Jetstar Platinum Mastercard - Nearly 12 months is up and $149 fee!

For those that got a fee free platinum card for the 1st year, the $149 card fee is about to be charged. Refer to http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64166

I milked mine for the 30000 free and another 40000 in spend, and off to Hong Kong in April :)

But no need for it now, so just cancelled it.

I rang 1300 150 100, Option 0, and took less than 4 minutes to cancel over the phone

Cheers

  • U spent $40k on your card in one year?

    • Wouldn't be too difficult to do with a bit of concenrated effort, without necessarily going into debt to do it, given that to be eligible for a platinum card you'd need a substantial income to start with.

    • +1

A family of 4 means a cc spend of nearly 75k. We rarely use cash btw, only where we have to

  • theres a new macquarie card with a good incentive and free for the first year. ill be swapping the jetstar card out for that

    • Nice, will check it out. Currently have the Westpac platinum, while the 3x pts for Amex is great, the $295 fee eats away at rewards. Also finding I am buying travel insurance instead of relying on the free, and there is now a $200 claim fee for purchases insurance so the benefits are reduced.

  • the australian frequent flyer forum has a section on credit card promotions. its the best place to keep an eye out for this stuff
