Have been waiting for a deal on an induction cooktop, this Bosch one ticked all the boxes (for me).
I bought last night because:-
1. Great price $3338
2. Bosch extended warranty 5 YEARS, but you have to buy before midnight tonight for that

Im not affiliated with applicanesonline, this is the 1st puchase I made from them, noting:-
Several $100 cheaper than others advertising this product
Purchased for $315 the install (which I hope works out well) <- This in itself a bargain.

      then it's a wiser choice to go with Ikea, even their top of the range leave you plenty of changes.

      Our kitchen can fit 90cm but we valued aesthetics and benchspace (yes I know you can use the scratch-prone glass induction cooktop as benchspace) and went for 60cm, 4 burners. Realistically when are you using 6 burners?

      Love our bosch oven/induction/rangehood though. Looks great. I don't cook, personally.

      Edit: just further to this, my mum got her dream boomer oven/stove combo a few years back and constantly complains about it. It's full of wasted space and regrets.

        Same here. Big bench, originally planned a 90 crm went with an 60 cm 8 series 4 “burners” with a flex zone. Means the bench looks very spacious and uncluttered even with a kitchenaid mixer and a breville espresso machine on the same bench.

        Also looked at a lower spec (flex zone on one side) 80 cm one but once cutting back from 90 went all the way. I would also add that going smaller stove meant we also had more flexibility (more storage) in the overhead cupboards as we didn’t need as big a hood.

        I would say I find the flex zone is a bit overrated though. I mean we do use it occasionally but I now regard it as a purchase point and looks cool (or hot, stovetop description preference).

    Its acutally more close to $3k, you want a more expensive one theres heaps of them, look at the Miele equivalant for near $6k

    Better than ceramic, not as good as gas.
    We have the 60cm version of this. I mean it is quicker than other forms of electric, and more controllable, that is true. I had to buy a whole new set of pots and pans. But to be realistic, it is just that compared with gas still not as controllable.

    I do.
    We are on our way of getting rid of gas from our house. Having seen this in operation from a friend who has one, I reckon its great. Been pondering about 3 years doing my research, this price and extra warranty convinced me. If you dont think its good value, please let me know what you think is better

      I have the Bosch PXE875DC1E which is the same size and $1000 cheaper at various places. It has a "flex" area only on the left which I suppose is the differentiator? But damn, it's a big premium to get that "flex" all over, and I can't think of a situation where I'd really need that. If that's what's really important to you maybe it's good a good buy for that particular model right now? But I suspect it's a bit of a niche product.

      I don't agree with the haters though - induction is vastly superior to gas in most respects.

      I hope you have the right sized cutout in your benchtop because if you had gas beforehand, you might find it's a much smaller cutout. If you have engineered stone for your benchtop the installers are going to flat out refuse to install as nobody will cut that stuff in situ (or pretty much anywhere) anymore.

        Agree, induction is easily better than gas or electric element, unless you're cooking massive woks of food back to back (then gas is the go).

        Re cut out: This is exactly the issue I have, I've got a Smeg 1000mm induction hob, nobody seems to make new induction hobs in a 1000mm form factor :-(

        Unless it’s a true flex zone they can just call it 2 zones because a true flex has overlap all throughout the coils between the 2 zones otherwise you’re left with 2 hot spots and a cold centre as it is on most

          @WhatsThisThenSlaat: Yes I reckon the flex zone on my 60 cm version of this is a tad overrated. It works, but not as well as I expected and not used as often as I thought I would.
          Its purpose is for roasting pans or chefs pans.

          Only in one side is all that is needed really.

  I'm not an expert so happy to be corrected but I believe you'll need a new circuit from your switchboard to your new induction cooktop and this won't be included in the installation cost. You'd also want to find out if the gas disconnection and capping is included.

    Not a sparky, but yeah, generally need a high amp circuit just for these appliances.

      Had a chat with sparky - electric cooktop has to be a separate circuit - can't be combined with any existing circuit.
      Also for new install you will need an isolation switch easily accessible (not inside the cabinet) no further than 2m from the stove (safety feature).
      I was told isolation switch was required for open heating elements stove before but now the requirement is extended to any electric cooktops.

        The above is true^.

        $316 for OP is going to be just plug in and install.

        No gas capping.
        No separate 32A line.
        No circuit breakers.

    You'd usually just get this if you're part of new builds that can't go gas anymore. There aren't any incentives going induction from gas, unlike HVAC and hot water.

    generally you do need a dedicated 32A circuit, although there are some limited 'power lite' or 'low current' variations. what happens is when you max out the capacity, it automatically lowers the setting on the other hobs. its probably a lot easier/cheaper than installing a new circuit, if you're not planning on using all hobs on max at the same time.

  There are other options for 80cm flex induction at lower price with options previous to extend the warranty to 5 year.

  I still think Electrolux or ikea (which I’m told are Electrolux guts) are the best bang for buck.

  However after using so many, I would pay for one that doesn’t have such an annoying chime when moving pots or wiping down the capacitive buttons due to oil or water droppings…gotta be the most annoying thing about induction, that and trying to lift a pan off for half a second to manoeuvre the contents in the pot/pan

    Our bosch had a timer where you could take off for say 60 seconds before it would switch off. Miss the feature on our older stove we have now.

  You're paying a significant premium for that accent line look, and the 'flex' arrangement.
  I have the 90cm version of this and have used the flex cooktop option exactly once (and mostly just to try it :) )

  Also, various Bosch items regularly pop up on clearance sale for ex demo or factory seconds at their online homeclearance site (which is winning appliances/appliances online outlet front), for those that wanna save a few more $$

  Great cooktop, but can't say it's a 'bargain' compared to their more entry level 80cm models
