How are you even competitive with the likes of leaptel and superloop?

    • This is very similarly priced to my superloop plan

    • Yes.. I don’t find this a ‘Deal’

    • Superloop is better

      Lightspeed Plan (1,000/100)
      $85.00/mth for 6 months
      Then $109.00/mth

      • for 6 months vs for 12 months

is the important bit. The 1000/100.is the only one cheaper over 12mths.

Their dodgy 30days notice is designed to stop you from leaving.

        • Agreed 1000/100 is the only one cheaper there but look at the math as Superloop is still a better option over 12 months. Yes they want 30 days notice but Ive successfully bypassed it before using this…

          Superloop:
          (6 x $85.00 = $510) + (6 x $109.00 = $654) = $1164.00

          Tangerine:
          12 x $99.90 = $1198.80

Dont forget that Topcashback also have a $95 cashback for Suuperloop. Whereas Tangerine only gets 15% back on the first months plan, approx $15).

Superloop has that 30 day notice period, very annoying

      • It is annoying, I just noticed them today, getting ready for Black Fri broadband deals.

  • These are the same prices that have been available for a while now.

    • Yup but 6 months.

I was able to see 12 via Bupa

  • Are they reliable?

    • +1

I didn't find them reliable at all and had issues watching tv shows etc

  • +5

Given this is Tangerine, I'd avoid it like the plague

    • +1

Why? Im looking to sign up, any feedback please?

      • -3

Based in Richmond Melbourne. May not appeal to those in Sydney.

      • +1

Probs better off going with Buddy Telco

      • Data breach in 2024. If you trust a small company to secure your data 2nd time around…

        • That's a strange take

          • @Big L: Meanwhile we trusted big companies like Opus, MedibankPublic, LackTitude, QanDust…

            • @dlovep: Exactly. I don't know why there's less trust in a smaller mob.

              • @Big L:

I don't know why there's less trust in a smaller mob

                LOL

                • @mickeyjuiceman: Just realised that I'm trying to ask Temu marshmallow a question about his assertion despite evidence to the contrary.

Anyone that thinks that a tier 2 or 3 provider is inadequate after repeated breaches from Optus and Telstra is using emotion instead of logic.

          • @Big L: I don't trust any company that has had a breach/leak. They go on my lifetime avoid list. Optus, latitide, qantas, plus any charity that uses Pareto or even shares my info with a 3rd party (I went from giving to 7 charities down to 1). I guess a company that has had a breach is more likely not to have another due to fixing issues and being more aware of vulnerabe avenues of attack. Qantas is obviously proof this isn't true.

nothing wrong with the network, just the customer service

  • +1

when you need to cancel you'll need to talk to an overseas person which might get angry with you for cancelling just before the promo price about to end
    true story..
i think there were multiple reviews on productreview that says the same

    service wise, they're ok though

    • Curious why you need to call to cancel the service? Can we just switch to another provider without calling?

      • It depends on each RSPs terms and conditions.

  • Has anyone in Brisbane used Tangerine and can share what their speeds are like, please? That 500/50 is a very compelling price - a lot better than Leaptel and Superloop, who are my go-to churn buddies.

    • +3

Edit: read the ProductReview reviews. The positive reviews are good, but the negative ones trigger my PTSD of being with Spintel, so I’ll, as @mickeyjuiceman recommends, avoid like the plague.

    • +1

I'm in Brisbane south west and on HFC with Tangerine since this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/916035.
Speeds are 540ish x 45 and pings of 6 to 8 ms normally. I have no issues but then again no service problems so far.
I was with Superloop before and will go back after the six months as like having a back up phone line.

    • -1

absolutely nothing wrong with Vocus which is their network

  • No thanks. I'll take my money elsewhere

  • +2

Avoid tangerine on principle, they allowed 230k+ customers personal data to get breached, a chunk of which weren't even currently active customers.

      • They have all been breached just that most of them dont know it.

        • got a confession to spill?

    • Like Optus, but less accounts?

    • -1

this can happen to any company hardly a reason to give them the flick

      • Can happen, sure…. but if it has happened, why would you trust that company with your data again? If you're so casual about it can I have your email address, phone number, home address, and date of birth?

        • i was part of their data breach so just go to the dark web. When you signup to anything you're at risk its just a fact of life, They would have plugged the problem

          • @narrowroad: The problem was a 3rd party contractor. Can't find more details than that. They are also going to ensure they delete outdated data sooner. Considering they are required by law to retain records for 7 years that dosn't really mean much.

  • This or Exetel $80 with $100 cashback?

  • My current plan with Optus (though negotiated) for 500/50 is cheaper

    • Online or in store?

    • Me too. However, it took over an hour to negotiate (over chat online). I'm on 750/50 Mbps plan.

  • +1

The Value Plan (25/10) was $39.90 yesterday (for first 6 months). This new deal seems more like a price increase unless staying for a full year.

    • +1

Correct. I was going to have my sister sign up to this today for activation on 1st December (her current NBN will be disconnected end of November) but they pulled the offer. It was supposed to be available until end of this year. I have sent them a message.

I am on it and have been for a month. I had some issues with my NBN connection box disconnecting several times but it seems I was never sent the PPoE login details to set up on my router so I was connecting via Dynamic IP which was causing authentication errors. As soon as I put the PPoE details in, it's been fine. Consistently hitting 26Mbps down

    • +1

Yes, i have that plan for 6 months at 3ó.90, after which i will move back to fubar for $50 a month. No deal here

      • I'm waiting for my CBA Yellow Platinum offer to come through for More NBN (affiliated with Tangerine). It should give me $40p/m off for 36 months on NBN plans so once my 6 months are up on Tangerine @ $39.90p/m, it will be $38p/m for 36 months (unless their prices go up again).

  • -1

^ nbn® Speed Tier refers to the theoretical maximum speed attainable under this plan.

With Superloop, I get more than the 'theoretical maximum'.

Constantly getting around 270/90 on my 250/100 plan

    • Depends on your location. My relatives in WA on 50/20 plan gets 20/10. Even turning on the boost option barely made a difference. FTTC.

      • So why don't they switch to a 25/10 plan and save money?

  • +1

Tangerine still use Vocus for now, cheaper to go with Dodo on the same network especially when you combine it with $100 cashback https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/930512

  • +4

Speeds fell off a cliff so left. Cancelled as of paid to date but kept on getting invoices past this point. Huuuuge wait times to speak to someone and no email contact. 2 years later getting debt collection notices over the $69.95 that is apparently outstanding (which isn't!!). Would avoid like the plague. Lazy service and systems like this should not be supported.

  • Went with $39 plan with $100 voucher after 45 days.

  • By far the worst customer service

You call them and they hang up asking you to call back later

  • As an existing customer who is paying $69.90/mth I find it insulting that they are selling the same product to someone else for $49.90/mth, which is all it’s worth. I guess loyalty means nothing to them, therefore I think I will be changing providers. My advice to others is go with one of the more honest IP’s who are offering $50/mth without playing games.

    • It's the same across most ISPs. They offer a discount for X amount of time to capture new business.
Its not just ISPs, look at Telco's, Energy Providers, Private Medical Insurance and so on. These days it's up to the end user to stay on top of best offers out there and switch accordingly.
I agree though and if a pain to keep changing, then choose one that offers a decent FLAT rate from the get go.

  • Been porting in and out with Tangerine and they are okay. Never had a problem unlike Mate where i always get a dropout and need to reset my router again and again.

  • +1

Inconsistent speeds and dropouts unlike other ISPs. Avoid if possible.

    • -1

unlikely them, it's 99% the user issue usually
