  • Can someone please share their experience with these? I have an iPhone 13 Pro and mainly mount for maps in my older car (without carplay) - are they better then the $20 Amazon vent mounts?

    • +7

They're way better. I use the suction mount (previous model) and have never even had my phone look like it was going to fall off. I reckon the vented mount is similar quality.
I've tried so many mounts over the years but this beast is incredible even in my ute.
They're spenno but worth it. I'm getting a second for my work car!

      • I went from the suction mount in both cars to the vent mount in both. IMHO : Vent mount is much better. Suction mount was great but started to loose suction and fall off over time (especially on hot days). Vent mount screws in, has adjustability, and is rock solid.

    • +1

Quad lock is top quality. I've been using their cases and mounts for years, and I have never had one breakor fail. They've all lasted longer than the vehicles or devices I've installed them on. Car, push bike, motorbike… even at 100km/h+ in the open it doesn't budge. I've not used suction ones though.

    • +1

I've had a flexible adhesive mount on my car for nearly 3 years and it hasn't moved, just had a 12K trip with 2 different phones mounted and no one issue.

    • They're the best in the business and it's not particularly close.

    • Can vouch for these Quadlock mounts, especially when they are on sale like this.

I also noticed UGreen also has some vent mount w/ this sort of hook quite similar to QuadLock https://amzn.asia/d/27oMnUG. You can try it out if you're not happy you can always return easily.

    • It's primarily targeting outdoor and motorsport applications, where the phone is exposed to elements and vibrations.

I know many people use it in cars because they are already in the ecosystem, i.e. push bikes, motorbikes, side-by-sides, etc. So it makes sense to have that one case for all.

If you are only going to use it in a car, just get a normal case, why bother with a super thick case or a case with a big lump when you don't need the extra protection. The thick case also interferes with wireless charging.

      • +1

The old cases interfered with wireless charging, the new lower profile ones work just fine.

      • The cases don’t interfere with wireless charging

    • There's no other phone mount as good, which is why they're able to get away with charging so much.
Because of that I'd only go for them if you have an actual need for them (motorcycling, mountain biking etc), no point buying into the ecosystem otherwise.

  • +10

Just be mindful the cases are quite thick and they don’t really allow wireless charging unless you have their wireless charger. It gets really hot because of increased distance.

    • +5

this needs to be reinforced, so many people rated quad lock but don't actually note this fact. for me it was a deal breaker on how big the case actually is + the wireless charging limitations.

      • Switched to Peak design, which is arguably more expensive but more elegant, thinner and thus can still wirelessly charge. Use it with the stem mount.

    • +2

Note in general that you should avoid wireless charging where possible. Kills your battery much faster than standard charging. It's a cool tech but the downsides aren't worth it IMO.

      • i think previously it kills the battery quite a bit by overheating, but I've found with the new phones they moderate the heat quite well now (Android anyways)

My remedy, Ive found it helps alot is I charge wireless via the aircon vent mounts and the aircon when it's on cools it.

    • +2

I personally haven't found that. I've had QL cases for a few years now (iphone 12 and 17 pro max) and wireless charging hasn't ever been a problem for me

      • +1

My old iPhone 12 wouldn't charge at magsafe speeds, only slow 5W speeds.

    • Just get the mag safe case and use any mag safe wireless charger and works flawlessly

    • I really liked my Pixel 5 case as it was slim around the edges and only bulky in the middle.

But I am disappointed that the Pixel 10 case is the same thickness as the camera bump for the entire case.

  • +4

Mag plate needs to glue down

    • Yeah agreed. The ring.. mine broke. Got it replaced under warranty.

But the case for the s23 ultra is slippery and bulky. I leave mine in my car to switch out from my belroy case.

    • Yep. I just bought 2 replacement rings, and I'll glue them in. The plastic tabs are too flimsy.

    • It took me a while to realise where my mag plate had gone. When I got back to the car it was still sticking to the car mount. A few dots of super glue fixed that.

Crossing everything hoping Piastri wins F1 WDC and then they'll drop the 50% off sale.
Kidding but do hope the lad can pull it off.

  • Has anyone got experience using the pixel 9 pro xl with the case and magnetic wireless car charger? Read mixed things about the wireless charger not working well with that case.

    • Using this as we speak. No issues so far over about a month.

Using the mag lock is awesome. I also used another brand 15W wireless charger with the case on. No issues.

One of the better features that isn't really talked about is the fact you can use the mag lock case to stick your phone to a vertical metal surface. Handy for tradies.

  • The 17 Pro Max case doesn't look like it covers the camera plateau completely, like some other cases do. So that's something to take note of.

    • I have the 17 Pro Max in the magsafe case, it has ~1mm overlap around the edge of the camera plateau, and a raised lip so the camera lenses are kept clear of the table when you put it down.

Using their own proprietary cases makes Quad Lock a no go for me. Quad lock is just too limiting. There are galores of better options out there at a much better price.

  • Ive had mixed results with this ecosystem, my first quadlock with the suction cup, worked for about a year, until it came off with the heat, after that, it was never the same. It would come off every day. But the connection between the phone and the stem was 100% faultless…now i have the heavy duty suction cup ( version 2) and the suction cup bit is far superior in build terms to the first version 1 had, but the connection between the mount on the back of the phone to the stalk is poor, they have changed something..

  • -3

Why do they integrate the lock into the case. Very annoying. New phone, means i have to buy a specific case to use the mount.
Looking for something compatible with quad lock mount but can cradle existing phone in case

  • Used to run quad lock till I found peak designs cases far better in terms of usability and ease to mount and unmount, and it's significantly thinner cases.

Plus it opens up all accessories with magsafe off the bike too, regardless of phone.

  • Still the go to for your motorcycle.
Just upgrading mine now to the wireless version!

Buy from SuperCheap auto if you want to buy for 2+ products, and collect your points, or if you want to pick it up.
