As far as I know, only Waterford Mastercraft items remain handmade in Ireland by artisans and their price reflects that, comparable with other artisan factories.
Most production of Fiskar Group items is done by machine in China, Indonesia and Slovenia, Slovakia.

While most crystal items are now made from alternative lead-free glass, some patterns are not.
- Saturn, Rain, Radial, Neptune, Highclere & Prism Decanter contain 24% Lead. (This list is not exhaustive). You must not store liquids in leaded crystal as the acidity will leach the lead out and cloud the glass.

    Royal Doulton quality is just shit nowadays. As an example, the decanter cap doesn’t even fit properly.

    Wedgwood makes pretty glasses but make the champagne / wine taste like shit.

    If you want to actually taste the wine, buy Riedel/Plumm

      Unfortunately there are very few makers of artisan quality anything anymore. Even Baccarat & St. Louis crystal are mostly machine-made or cut.

      Still, in terms of enshittification, Fiskars' brands will all be a step-above Kmart/Amazon quality, but you should absolutely not pay close to full price. Even at 80% off they are still making quite a bit of profit.

      I think decanter caps generally don't fit very well, and you don't want them to because the glass binds and becomes stuck. Some older decanters would have a gasket ring to seat & seal them but I'm not sure if these do or not.

      As for the taste, smell has a lot to do with that as does the shape of the glass, but I don't see why the glass itself should change the taste. If it does, that's very concerning!

      I agree Spiegelau / Riedel makes some very nice and clear glass which is also well-priced on sale!

    Woke up, saw the deal title and thougt my prayers had been answered. I wanted a new toilet, bath tub and wash basin to replace my 50-year old ones. Can't see any on that site :(
