    Damnit!
I'm completing my 75days on the shopback deal the 25th!
Do I roll the dice and switch on the 25th or let this one slide?

    • +1

Same, 75 days to stay with provider where the days doesn't start until the bill start. Am I right?

    • +2

Sign up late in the day on 21/11 (a Friday) and almost certain you won’t be connected until after the 25th

      • Sounds like a valid suggestion..
        Thanks legend..

  • +1

I have contacted customer support, they said that gift car need to be 90 to 120 days to be received as per term and condition. I have changed early August thru them and they said I may receive gift card from early Dec to mid of Dec, that is really long and it is not just about 45 days.

    • +4

I think the theory is that the gift card is secured after staying 45 days even if the delivery is made 120 days after the switch. I'm not sure if anyone has tested this.

      • +4

I have. Terminated my gas connection just over 45 days into the switch and can confirm that I did get the gift card for my gas after about 120 days

      • +1

That's correct. I switched in June, met the 45 days requirement in August and got the gift card in October. In September, I had switched to another retailer and this evidently did not impact the gift card.

        • I joined the mid September jump. The electricity provider was quick but my gas (from globird to alinta) is still outstanding. They said they don't switch over until a meter read and when I login to alinta there are no details. I stopped receiving globird bills after September too. Not sure what's happening there.

      • I want to know as well …

      • Yes, tested multiple times this year and it works.

    • +1

It is long, but if there’s a decent signup credit on top of this promotion, and the card(s) land in 90 days, it’d still be worth it, imo.

    • +2

You don't need to stay until you get the gift card. I just got mine from my August switch, and I've changed twice since then. Just make sure you stay at least 45 days after they switch your service over.

    • +12

As per the Econnex Terms & Conditions when you sign up:

You need to stay connected 45 days from connection (not sign up) to be eliigible for the Mastercard Gift Card.
Mastercard Gift card is then sent 120 days from connection (not sign up).

      My experience:

      21/02/2025 - Signup
      27/02/2025 - Electricity Connected
      26/03/2025 - Gas Connected
11/06/2025 - Received Karta Gift Card $200 (for electricity) after 104 days from connection.
12/06/2025 - Received Karta Gift Card $100 (for gas) after 78 days from connection

Around this time you should also regularly check for emails from "Karta Rewards" as the Mastercard must be activated within 30 days!

      • did you switch after staying on for 45 days?

        • Didnt change for a while after that

      • Can I ask if you moved provider before the 45 days?

        • +1

No, because that would invalidate getting the Gift Card

          • +1

@darkly: Sorry, was meant to say "after" the 45 days, but before getting the gift card….

            • @JuryWheel: he replied above "Didnt change for a while after that" so expected he stayed on after getting the gift card

      • +1

Thanks mate , just checked and I received my karts rewards gift card for my 12th July econnex switch. It must’ve gone to my junk mail

  • +3

I just received the gift cards from signing up in July. A bit long but worth it. I stacked this with Powershop's sign up credit, which is back to $200 apparently.

    • -1

Nice one. Did you still get the Econnex GC despite not using their direct promo link?

      • +2

The Powershop $200 signup credit was available through the econnex promo link in July.

      • +1

I did sign up through Econnex. That doesn't disqualify you from PS' sign up credit. I haven't checked if Powershop was available this time though.

    • +2

Powershop credit only applies after 90 days now and is $100 each for electricity/gas.

Receive up to $200 in sign-up credits
when you combine selected electricity and gas plans.
The credit is applied 90 days after your Powershop account becomes active.

      • Ok not so interesting anymore then. Thanks for spotting / sharing.

  • Anyone done this with a future date - like i want to change the provider in December

    • +2

Worked for me a few months ago when I scheduled a couple of connections about 1 month in advance

      • Are you saying it may be possible to have the connections start a month later?

  • +1

If we did this in July can we switch again now and get another GC?

    • yes - as long as you stay connected for 45 days, you will get it

      • 45 days

Is it normal days or business days ?

  • Once you have earned the last offer, can you get this offer also or is there a limit per year or per customer?

    • No limit as long as you meet the criteria for the previous offer (usually staying 45 days). That said most energy providers do credit checks on you when you sign up, and if you change too often you might start getting rejected by some. Hasn't happened to me but I've seen comments here from people it's happened to.

  • Is there a way to track progress? I haven’t received my gc from switching to AGL and it’s been over 2 month. Do I need to wait for the 2nd invoice to arrive?

  • +1

Just got $150+75 cash back from the last one. Time to dip in again

  • -2

so this is only available starting 15 Nov

    Some tips:

Sign up date for next available Econnex Deal is 45d after Connection date by Retailer.
[Signed up to Econnex Deal 20/10.
    Retailer Connection date 30/10 email.
Will have to wait… for a Deal after 14 December]

You have 10 business days to cancel switch of retailer - but lose Econnex offer. Returns to previous Retailer.

*Set a reminder in Econnex Deal for 45d after Connection Date to sign up in next available Deal.

Check offers inside Econnex Deal Link from Retailers at your address. Some may have up to $250 Bill Credits that can only be used to pay your Bill. Credit is lost if leave! Usually only available once a year.

*Screenshot T&C on first page of Deal Link as it disappears after Deal closes!

Only feedback from Econnex is Confirmation email just after sign up to Deal.
Then receive email of switch from new Retailer.

*Set an alarm to check for Karta email 90-120d after Connection Date.
    Activate MC within 30d!!
Use MC by short expiry date shown in Karta app!!
Can add MC to mobile wallet.

Signed up many times a year for years.
Always received Econnex incentive about 120d later.

PM Econnex Rep Manyo if there is a problem. Don't waste your time contacting Econnex other ways.

    • Rates offered through Econnex aren't necessarily lowest available.
Best suited to those churning Retailers for incentives offered.
Not those wanting to stay long term!

    • +2

some people have had the gift cards go to spam, I added this

      Matches: from:(@karta.com.au)
Do this: Never send it to Spam, Categorise as Primary

  • +3

    Screenshot everything and retain.

  • +1

No available offers for my postcode, VIC 3032.

    Electricity only with solar.

    Oh well.

    • yeah, my postcode in VIC often had lots of offers.

none now (for gas or elec with solar).

      • Even tried for internet and it initially said we have found plans for you, then a pop over came up and said they found energy plans to.

Got to the screen where they want your email and mobile, then lo and behold, no plans.

But they have my details. Well they have a random series of numbers at least as I didn't give my exact number.

    • +3

Check again when Deal goes live in 4d
Different offers depend on your location.

      • yeah I was going to. usually they should show up though

        • Never before seen an Econnex Deal posted before sign up date🤔

  • +3

This November 2025 promo, increases the gift-card for Electricity, to $200.

Signed up 20 October @$200 for electricity
Payout varies from $100 to $200 depending on how much Retailers want your business.

  • Has anyone's got experience with getting credit refunded from Engie? I have some credit left (which is mixed with $75 govt rebate), hoping to find no issues so can jump on this one.

  • +2

If only gas connections didn’t take so long to switch, I’ve served my 45 days with electricity but gas just recently got connected and I signed up both at the same time

  • I am with Engie. They moved my accounts yesterday. I have to wait till next month :(

  • I checked them out a couple of weeks ago when switching to Engie, but bear in mind not all offers come up through the site. Engie's EV plan didn't come up so I had to just sign up through Engie's site.

    • If you sign directly through Engie site, do you still get the gift cards?

      • +4

No. You have to sign up through the Econnex link to receive the cards. As others have said, not all plans are available. This deal works best for people who will regularly churn.

  • If I still have a credit balance from the Energy Bill Relief with my existing provider, will it transfer over to the new provider?

    • +1

Will be refunded to your account bills are paid from. Always received it.

Some retailers wait for you to ask for refund of any payments made to your Bill.
Others automatically refund it when you leave.

      • Good to know, cheers.

        • +2

Had $1150 credit with Origin a while back. They waited for request.
          Was from unspent Qld $1000 payment & 2 X $75 payments.
Turned up in my bank account after another request

          Note:
Bill Credits applied when you joined a retailer are NOT refunded. It's use to pay Bills or lose it!

  • I did this with the previous deal, but now want to change plans but still stay with the same energy provider (still within the 45 days). Will I still be eligible for the bonus as I am still staying with the same provider?

    • +1

      Risky!!!
That's NOT switching to qualify in this Deal!!
And switching before 45d will likely mean losing MC from previous Econnex Deal you signed up for!!

Switching Retailer is the basis of this Deal!
That's how Econnex makes their money, to give us some of it!! If they don't get paid, we won't receive the MC up to 120d later!!

      (still within the 45 days)

Switch needs to be made 45 or more days AFTER Retailer connected you in previous Econnex Deal. Switch before that - you won't qualify in previous Deal!!

      BUT…
Switching to another Plan with same retailer may work. AFTER 45 days with existing Retailer Plan.
Some Retailers have more than 1 plan in Econnex Deal. No idea if works.

Is the Plan you want to change to listed in current Econnex Deal at your address??

Carefully read the T&C for this Deal!
Jackofspade commented in earlier Deal that worked when switching to a different Plan with ENGIE.

So - your Plan may be switched, but unlikely will qualify for a MC in this Deal.
Switching now may mean your previous switch may not qualify for that older MC offer…

      PM Manyo for advice.

  • @INFIDEL
I have been with powershop twice earlier; in your experience are they likely to give sign up credit again if I switch back to them again this time? Thanks

    • +1

Haven't signed up with PowerShop since earlier this year.
It was my preferred electricity Retailer based on good & prompt customer service.
Will try again 1 year after last signup.
But there was no PowerShop offer in recent Econnex Deal.

Discussion in old Deals suggest now only available once per customer / address.
New owners have changed how it operates.

  • Anyone had experience moving from Superloop and avoiding paying the notice period?

    • +1

Yeah just complain about the service speed - I got out of the fee

  • Are welcome credit exclusion periods based on address, account or person?

For example if I received welcome credit from Engie a few months ago, I'm not eligible for it for another 12 months.

Given that was connected under my name only, could my partner then use their details instead to get the welcome credit again within 12 months?

Or is move-in/move out and reconnecting used as a variable in this to prove it's a new resident?

    • If the current account is in your name, then you will need to move out and obtain your final bill. Your partner can move in afterwards. Move-in and move-out can be done on the same day. You don't need to prove it's a new resident. I did that to take advantage of the Engie $500 offer twice. I also did the same for Powershop. NOTE: A disconnection fee (or final bill reading fee) applies if your meter is not digital.

      • Does your partner have the same surname ?

  • +3

Make sure to claim the GC within 30 days from when the email is sent. Apparently in the fine print. I was a couple of days over that, link expired and they refused to send a new one.

  • Did Ovo remove the 3 hours free electricity from their EV plan?

    • +1

Pretty sure you can only have one or the other now. The EV plan has the 8c 12-6am rates, and the Free 3 has the 11am to 2pm free period.

  • -2

    Looks like deal is dead

    • +5

Yeah, returning 404. Still 4 days though so link might get live then.

      • Yes, it's strange how this "latest" deal [ https://www.econnex.com.au/promo-november-2025 ] is unavailable now, ie. Error 404 ,

however, the older deal here (29 SEP 2025) is 'available' and has the following time-frame:

Promotion available on qualifying Energy plan and/or Internet plan applications made between 26th September 2025  (“Promotional Period”) and 31st December 2025 or untill Econnex withdraws the offer. Econnex Comparison retain the right to change or alter the terms of this offer.  1

        • +2

Now, the description of the older deal (29 SEP 2025) says this:

Switch and connect your Electricity, Gas or Internet plan before 31st December 2025 and receive a $100 Digital Prepaid Mastercard* for each service. Simply stay connected for 45 days, and you could be rewarded. T&Cs apply*.  1

It does not have the 'start date' anymore.
Somebody from Econnex is reading these OzB forums :-D

      • +1

I actually called up Econnex. They've told me the deal will go live tomorrow until the 21st Nov. I think there's been a bit of a mixup.

  • what is their billing period? monthly?

  • +2

Think I'm going to skip Econnex this month. Got offered 40,000 Everyday Rewards points in the app to switch to Origin Electricity for 30 days, so I'll probably do that instead as it's 15 days less for the same amount.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/929627

    • I wish Origin also offered the Amazon Prime membership too, for electricity and/or gas,
but it's only for their internet services.

    • This is good deal somehow missed it. Need to check if Engie will refund the account credit before move. Also, Origin pricing PDF shows billing period to be 3 months. Hoping with smart meter moving after 30 days will be possible.

  • Is it 45 days from day of sign up through Econnex? or 45 days from the first day electricity has transferred to the new electricity provider?

    • +2

and stay connected for a minimum of 45 days

  • 12.30 and ol ot live yet

  • +1

I don't know if the latest deal with the $200 gift-card for Electricity is available anymore.

It's strange how this "latest" deal [ https://www.econnex.com.au/promo-november-2025 ] is unavailable now, ie. Error 404 ,

however, the older deal here (29 SEP 2025) is 'available' and has the following time-frame, without mentioning what the 'start date' is/was.

Switch and connect your Electricity, Gas or Internet plan before 31st December 2025 and receive a $100 Digital Prepaid Mastercard* for each service. Simply stay connected for 45 days, and you could be rewarded. T&Cs apply*.  1

Somebody from Econnex is reading these OzB forums :-D

  • +3

    Link is 404

  • Broken link…

  • Damn, does not appear to be live anymore…

    • It hasn't gone live (yet).

      • Ahh, right - link is probably just broken (as others have correctly pointed out).

      • The link WAS live, until a few days and the previous deal has had its start date removed, but now ends on 31 December 2025.

So, I think there is still a deal, but the gift card is now $100 for switching Electricity, instead of a $200 gift-card for Electricity.

        • Thats not good value then.
