All time low, enjoy!
Unsure if it can stack with the 10% cashback via ShopBack
Dang, hoping they would have the 256gb
Only 128g black.
For $500 something dollars, the camera samples look great. Not sure what you are expecting.
Above expected Pro quality at standard price
Was there a similar priced model that may have a better camera? Seems pretty good.
I love when people say something bad about a product without providing an equivalent or better alternative at the price point. 'oh thing bad… compared to something 2x its price' derp.
Yeah this thing doesn't even have the same quality output as an A7R. I'm out too.
I was comparing the image quality of this pixel to Hasselblad X2D II 100C. I think the latter is way better. NO DEAL!
Besides the latter is also on sale.
https://www.d1store.com.au/products/hasselblad-x2d-ii-100c?s…
Why would you compare this to an A7R?
I think he is perpetuating and exagerrating your initial garbage idea… Play along….
woosh
For a phone that is readily available on the shelf in Australia, I think its camera is pretty much unbeatable at this price point.
Looks worse than my 5D Mark IV. What a heap of garbage.
😂
Who's comparing to cameras? I just compared this to other Pixels.
huh? did we look at the same photos?
Thanks, code worked for me. Tried to activate SB but it kept turning off so didnt bother. I assume it wouldnt work anyway due to the goodguys code.
update - got SB tracked email, lets see if it converts
$54.27 tracked via SB
Got the same, fingers crossed
Feel sorry for those that bought from JB.
Don't forget to click on the lowest price button.
Where is that button?
11% Shopback plus tracked for me - let's see if it gets confirmed… Doesn't look like the bonus 8% Westpac tracked tho
Capped at $25
The bank bonus is, I see no mention of the cap on the regular 10%
No joy trying a price match with HN. They gave me a 50 buck voucher for cancelling the 400 buck pixel 9
Confirmed $54.27 Shopback after paying $527 at The Good Guys - Total price $472.73
It will track but likely not be approved. It's supposed to be a $25 cap so definitely won't get paid the $54.
D'oh!
Is the $25 cap for entire Cashback or just the 8% bank bonus?
Just the bank bonus, I see 0 mention of the cap on the regular cashback
I just got a notification from Shopback saying the 10% is uncapped.
HODL for Black and White Friday?
Yes.
This is a lot of phone for just over $500. Realistically this is where Pixels should be aiming to be priced imo. Average hardware with great software.

Nahhhhh a lot of us want the Pixel Pro/Pro XL models to be fully fledged competitors to the iPhone Pro/Pro Max & Galaxy Ultra series.
I think their strategy of doing both makes sense tbh. Something for those that don't want to spend big $ but also something for those who love the Pixel OS but want great hardware also. I don't think the Pixel Pro/Pro XL are yet where the iPhone or Galaxy Ultras are, but if they get there, they'd be awesome
Thinking back to the early Pixel models (and even further to the Nexus) their whole schtick was value. The base model handset was priced very competitively. Each subsequent generation has edged more towards competitors flagship prices while lagging behind in performance. Hell the 10 Pro XL is two grand. After a few years of using a Pixel I've grown to love the software but the performance compared to a similarly priced Samsung is night & day.
But if you ignore benchmarks, can you even notice the performance differences? (excluding say gaming too, I'd say mobile gaming is still fairly niche for a lot of people).
I'm on a Pixel 7 and it's fast enough - there's times it'll take a moment, but I can't see a faster phone making that moment seem any shorter outright that I'd notice or care enough.. I do plan to upgrade probably next year, when the 10 Pros are sub 700 perhaps. Or my battery gets even worse on my P7.. Either or.
@ReaperX22: I didn't mention benchmarks - this is all coming from being extremely underwhelmed by my Pixel's performance and having multiple similar Galaxy handsets to directly compare to. Yes I absolutely notice the performance difference.
I'm also not sure what to make of saying that playing games on phones is niche. In your world maybe?
I really don't think this is that hot of a take either - Pixels hardware has never been at the very top tier. My point is that they are pricing them that way more and more each generation. They're still great phones.
@Hinee: To be clear. My questions were genuine re the performance difference and the ignoring benchmarks part was a statement not a response to you directly sorry if that was how it came off.
Mobile gaming I should specify intensive mobile gaming perhaps? Like most mobile gamers aren't chasing 120fps. As long as it can play x game, it's not a big deal for most people. Whether it's at 30fps or 60+.
I agree that hardware needs to catchup. Ive been using Google phones since Nexus 4+5 which were great value at the time, with actual decent snapdragon chips for 50%+ less the cost vs other phones back then. Just wish we had similar today.
@ReaperX22: Answering your question mate, for someone who doesn't game on their phone or do anything really intensive at all as its mostly emails/browsing/banking etc for me, I notice no difference between my Pixel 10 Pro XL and my S25 Edge running with the Snapdragon 8 elite. SO many folks get so caught up on all those benchmark numbers that are completely irrelevant for the vast majority of people
@ReaperX22: Standard apps should be fine but gaming is still crap on tensor. Had the 9profold and it was so bad with Diablo and cod mobile. S24 was heaps better. Maybe casual puzzle games would be ok but wouldn’t use it for 3d gaming.
Yeah thats why I think they should do both. I loved the Nexus phones and I love the Pixels now.
They could easily do the Nexus range still for the cheap/midrange option which gives people Pixel OS etc at a low pricepoint. Then also compete with Apple & Samsung on the flagship with Pixels.
Ie. Get rid of the 'a' models and just revive Nexus
@jay889344: That'd be a cool idea but would probably confuse anyone who didn't know the history of Nexus/was in the know. I guess the a series is the closest thing to a nexus you can find. If they released a new nexus line all 5 of us would be excited haha. (it'd be more, but it's been almost a decade now since the last nexus?)
@ReaperX22: True! It would be super cool. Those Nexus phones were absolute fan favourites, which is probably why Google don't bring them back because a bunch of Pixel buyers would suddenly be 'downgrading' to a Nexus instead. LOL
What's a similarly-priced Samsung?
I found with the earlier Samsungs they had a similar proposition - beat iPhone specs and undercut on price. However I found they also failed to produce a comparable user experience (particularly with the camera) despite better hardware.
Now Samsung flagship models seem to be 'android iPhones' - premium pricing, hardware and experience. I'm wondering if the budget models still have the comparison described above, where despite having good hardware they don't seem to produce the best results from it.
$512.30 if you go the Shopback route instead.

Pixel vs Samsung-Galaxy…owners' experience & thanks.
Is it worth getting a 2 yr model on clearance?
As someone who owns both (a 10 Pro XL and an S25 Edge), and has owned both a Pixel and Galaxy the last 6 years (new one every year basically):
*Slightly prefer the cleaner OS of Pixel and the nice little Pixel features built in (which do make it to Samsung in time too)
*Samsung tends to have better battery performance and displays
*Processors on the Samsung are more powerful in terms of the benchmarks/numbers, but for many (including myself), this is irrelevant
*Cameras tend to be slightly better on Pixel pro models (though the Samsung Ultra phones are great too)
In short, if I picked one, it would be the Pixel because I value the camera & software experience more than I do the better chipset and display of the Samsung, but of course it really depends what your priorities are
Very helpful, thanks!
How noticable are the battery and display differences? Am I likely to regret going for the Pixel because of the battery performance or is it only marginal?
Battery - I'd say on average at the end of a full day out from 6am - 9pm or so, I end up with about 35-40% battery with the Galaxy and about 25-30% with the Pixel. So, not a super big difference in the day to day. You'd probably only really ever notice that on a full day of travel for example.
In terms of display, pretty damn negligible and in fact in terms fo the numbers, the new Pixel Pro/Pro XL models have higher PPI etc, but I just tend to prefer the brightness I get on a Samsung screen. Its honestly pretty negligible though, so definitely wouldn't base anything on it.
As said, I go Pixel because the camera and software are the most important features for me
Pixel has a nice and polished UI. But the quality of life improvements on OneUi is much better. Customisation, built in sms and spam call blocker powered by hiya, all the tweaks you get from Good Lock (navigation, ui customisation), side panel, secret folder, dual apps, Customisable sound profiles (I’ve got bad hearing) etc. Samsung wins in those regards (plus better gaming).
Good to see Good guys beating HN

This or Pixel 7 Pro for $329 from Amaysim?
9a, 7 too old.
Reminder the 7 line will lose support in 2 years time (OS/Security updates).
9a is good til 2032. Will it last that long? Maybe. But if you don't swap phones often/are a casual user, the battery will probably be fine for at least 4-5 years, and otherwise would work well up til then.
I'd get the 9a
My pixel 7a got swollen battery within 2 years. :(
Damn that sucks.. I knew the 6a had issues/even had a path to receive some money back but don't think the 7a was covered? https://support.google.com/pixelphone/workflow/16310202?hl=e…
@ReaperX22: It was covered, but I only got partial refund. I got a 9a now…. now I wait. Surely it's not common. I just got unlucky perhaps.
@Naigrabzo: I wouldn't think so… I've had a Nexus 4, 5, Nexus 6p, Pixel 2, 5, and 7, and none ever had swollen battery issues, even long after I had them sit in a drawer for years (which is when a similarly aged (to nexus 4/5) powerbank DID swell up recently, even without use. Pixel 2/5 still in drawer as backups/auth backups and my partner uses my 5 to dual-phone pokemon go using my account after I stopped playing. Still fine!
Battery in these things will become useless well before most people wanna attempt custom roms. I love the idea of extending their life etc with a custom rom, but it's unlikely 99% of people bother with em!

Just picked up. Taiwan stock, lol
What's the implication of this? Just ordered and not sure if I should be concerned.
It means we might not be able to get warranty direct from Google but only from TGG.
Mine got label in Chinese (translated to English below):
Importer: Taiwan Mobile Co., Ltd.
Which means this stock was either imported into Taiwan or being prepared to be imported into Taiwan.
I don't know if there are different versions for this model in different regions like iPhone and Samsung.
If invasion occurs the warranty is void
Nothing wrong with it. You still get the usual warranty.
Does this affect network frequencies? Need it to work in UK too. Also, just missed out on the 10% GG Cashback, gutted.
Also worth looking out for CommBank $50 cashback on step pay
10x zoom hahahahahahahahahaha
10 x ha
Just a reminder you can install Graphene OS on pixel phones for maximum privacy. They let you use a 'sandboxed' version of Google Play too so you can have all the apps you need.
I haven't been able to figure out e-sims just yet though - if you have any tips let me know.
Code doesn't work?
