      Where???

      • +5

I’d take a punt where they will suggest AliExpress/taobao for around $90 - $130AUD. They are knockoffs but hey there’s something for everyone.

        • +2

I understand some of these are made with material overruns

          • @Caped Baldy: Yes and no, the material isn’t proprietary so people can make a counterfeit. There are plenty of bellroy bootlegs on those online platforms.

The differences would be with the zips, hardware, meshing etc - understand this is a backpack so it’s not rocket science to make.

To put it in a fair comparison, it’s like buying a counterfeit Seiko 5, so you can get a $500 rrp watch for maybe $150, it will be 95% identical, whether you see value in that remaining 5% at 3x the cost is up to the individual.

@fillit: I have original and two from Ali. No difference in quality

@DryScissors: I've also handled an original and one from Taobao, there are differences as highlighted above, if you don't notice the differences and acknowledge that you purchased a counterfeit then you got yourself a great deal.

                @DryScissors:

feel like sharing the ali link? :)

              • @DryScissors: I have the Go Pack 2 from from Rushfaster and had an Ali version.

The Ali version was mostly similar except it did not come in the Aer plastic, the Aer logo placement is slightly off and one major gripe for me - the main material feels significantly different from the og. The og material was so smooth and nicer to touch. The og version was made in Vietnam, which Aer confirmed that Vietnam now produces their bags too. YMMV

It's a backpack for those, like me, who had no idea what this was.

Edit: thumbnail updated, so I guess it's obvious now

$291 for a basic, cheap looking backpack? Yikes

    • +12

Yeah I don’t think you’re the target market for it

            @Nivlac: Thankyou.

@Nivlac: So, out of curiosity, who is?

            • +1

@astevens: As an EDC/manybaggers geek, I am the target market, sure I can use my work issued Dell backpack (true ozbargainer way) or I can get something more premium.

I’m not really concerned whether others sees the value in this.

        • +1

Not sure where you’re looking. I’m seeing $330 AUD + shipping, which brings the total to about $100 more than this price.

          • +1

@Winny182: Damn, you are right. I must have clicked the wrong model, sorry.

What is your option for a good city backback?

    • -3

Might as well go with Samsonite at this price

  • +1

Even $91 for this backpack feels pricey to me.

    • +2

Yeah I don’t think you’re the target market for it

Won one of these on OzB back in 2017!

Pretty great bag, sturdy keeps it's strong shape due to design.

Packing my lunch is a bit tricky due to the rigidness of the bag

  • +1

I love my AER, I tried a bunch on in Japan and found this was right for me, same as the City Pack 2 but with a third pocket

  • I have one of these, bought around $220 on sale a year back from memory.
Great bag, if you take your EDC seriously like I do, AER should be considered.
Excellent zips, material, stitching, etc. A little too many pockets and sections for my needs, but thats pretty hard to suit everyone.

    • I think this is the new model.

  • Are these really that much better (to justify the cost) vs the tomtoc T66, T66 liteway, and T67?

    • +1

That lineup for tomtoc are designed primarily for travel, this is for work/urban EDC. The approach to compartments, pockets, comfortability, durability etc is a fair bit different. Like the big duffel opening can be frustrating if left under packed and there aren't many compartments for actual organisation of daily things.

The T73 or T77 are closer on the Tomtoc side from what I can see and from there it's a matter what you prefer in look, layouts, materials and price.

      • Thank you!

I love my V1 - daily driver and i bring it on holidays as well. The size is perfect and super sturdy and comfy as well. Will defo buy again, but I suspect its gonna be a while!

  • Thanks OP, didnt get an AER backpack, but picked up a bellroy one decently cheap. cheers

  • Oh man, I just received my CPP2 last week. I wonder if they will give me 5% off.

The product details has this: "This is our best price, coupons don't apply. ". Did anyone succeed in checking out using the 5% off coupon?

    • You can message them for a voucher for the difference in the price you paid. The 5% off applies automatically in the cart. I bought the bag just before the sale and missed out on the 5%, so I got a voucher valid for 3 years for difference in price.

      • Thanks, I will reach out to RF.

  • Anyone with this bag able to check/test if a Nintendo Switch 2 would fit in the front-top pocket?
Looks like it wouldn't; or could be very tight?

    • Just tried it, it won't fit in either of the from pockets. The Switch 2 is a big boi.

  • It's a great quality bag but maybe a little heavy

  • I wish they made 32L version of this backpack (City pack). 24L is little too small for me and I don't like the design of Travel or Flight packs.

Decided to go with Osprey Nebula instead.
