China finally back on sale with some $4xx prices! I've focused on the main two cities but have also seen sub $490 to X'ian, Chengdu, Chongqing, and more.

China Southern is a 4-star airline and a member of the SkyTeam alliance.

Flights transit in Guangzhou.

Also consider:

- Hainan Airlines Return: Melbourne/Sydney to China in Economy from $552 return, Business from $2149 Return

Summary:
Melbourne (Tullamarine) - Beijing return (15 May 26 - 25 Jun 26) from $418 return
Melbourne (Tullamarine) - Shanghai return (12 May 26 - 26 Jun 26) from $458 return

  • Clicking the sydney to beijing or shanghai links both link to $800 plus flights

Edit: Seems like there are some dates available for sydney, just need to change days as that direct link seems to not show that price.

thanks for pointing it out tho, that date was right at time of searching but of course while there's TONS of availability, Murphy's law would make me link the one that changed in the interim. Updated with better dates.

  • Chinese summer is brutal.

  • I've noticed lots of Jan-Mar deals and now May-Sep deals, does April not get any deals?!

    • April is school holidays in Australia, and their Canton Show in China.

      • What's Canton Show?

        • +1

The show has all the toys that made in China

    Great prices.

    Some long layovers in Guangzhou.

  • Ridiculous… Search Melbourne to Beijing for a specific date and it's a 31 hour trip for $430 with a 16 hour layover in Guangzhou… But if you search Melbourne to Guangzhou on the same date it's $650 with a 3 hour layover in Chengdu. Airline maths will never make sense to me.

probably way more people interested in going (home) to GZ than flying (home) to BJ

  • Can't find any flights for $450ish for Melbourne to Shanghai anymore.
