If only this comes in Power colour reaper model instead…

    • +1

I always wonder what the difference between the different models could be.

      • +33

Satiate your wondering mind with this site that comprehensively covers anything you want to know:

        https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-9070-xt.c422…

The 9070 XT comes in 304 watt, 317w, 330w, 340w and 360w flavours, each step up has a slight bump up in corresponding core clock speeds.

The other difference comes down to, display output ports offered, cooler design and the thermal interface materials used, and the supplier of VRAM used, Hynix (runs warm) or Samsung (very slightly slower but runs cooler).

If you want to go even deeper, there is also the voltage regulation circuit design and quality/brands of parts used there. This really only matters if you're the nerdy enthusiast level exteme overclocking type though, lol

          OMFG. Who knew!

  • +3

And an XFX 7900xtx at the same store for $1200 as well.

    • +1

Nice! Also keep in mind that those are super long cards.

      • +2

also 7900xtx has better raw performance, but worse FSR (unless they implement FSR4 in the 7900xtx and earlier GPUs) and worse raytracing and worse power efficiency

still love my 7900xtx no regrets

  • Whats the cooler like on these?

    • beefy

    • +7

Very cromulent, well performing. Comes stock with a slightly aggressive fan curve that you can edit in the Tuning section of Adrenalin software. Set a gentle curve strating at 20% and ramping up to 50% fan speeds and you're golden.

It's a large boi so check compatability with your current PC case.

  • Great card and price!

Buy before DRAM prices ripple over

    • ?

      • +5

AI servers are the problem, taking it all. Power, hardware, sucking in all the resources to enable little Johnny to make AI meme videos.

Sounds like Nvidia have run out of DRAM for graphics cards, probably no Super versions and the cards they have out will have very little stock, causing price rises to infinity and beyond.

The Winter is coming for the cult of HODL.

    • +3

So people are holding for a 5090 priced 5080 super?

  • +1

Amazing price, i bought my 9070xt at launch for more and have 0 regrets so this is a no brainer.

  • Anyone upgrading from 3080 or HODL?

    • +1

i was but it seems like the super variants are delayed

    • +2

Still on 3080 10GB and HODLing.

    • Was gonna HODL for the super series but with that being delayed, I bit the bullet this weekend and picked up a 5080.

    • +1

Upgraded to this from a 3060Ti last week… is it really worth it yet for a 3080? I guess it depends what you play.

      • Mind if I ask what CPU you had paired with the 3060Ti and now this? What games you play and how you've found that upgrade path so far? On a 3060Ti myself paired with a Ryzen 5 3600.

        • +2

I originally had a 3600, but had upgraded to a 5700x3d. To be honest it was still plenty fine at 1440p with the games i play (older fps like PUBG, WoT, WoW), but wanted to give my son something to game on so he'd stop cooking his school laptop! 9800x3d and 9070 ti now and it feels rather overkill, but its nice. Went from SFF to MFF too though, so a bit less noise is also welcome.

          • @Arsenal: Thanks for info. That's a very tasty upgrade path you've been on. Even just from 3600 to 5700x3d would have been nice. But platform upgrade to 9800x3d along with the 9070xt.. night and day from where you started. Enjoy!

    • +2

I reckon it's not enough of an upgrade but YMMV. I'm on a launch 3080 10gb and installed the dlss fsr frame gen mod and now Borderlands 4 runs great in 3440x1440.

    • +1

      For me it's basically like 3080 + DLSS = 9070xt (no upscaling) @ 4k

      I don't think it's worth the ~$1k, stick with 3080 + DLSS imho.

    • +2

I think if you have a 3080, holding is fine - depending on what resolution you using.

  • +1

Was $815.32 earlier today when ebay accidently released the black friday coupon, if anyone feels daring to wait since this code Expires 23 November 2025. Max. discount $3,000. Limit 5 per buyer. and assumably ebay will re release the coupons during black friday?

    • +3

Amazing if true! Possibly would be the deal of the year for 2025 GPUs

    • Max disc $300 per usual, not $3k?!!

    • Is this eBay Plus coupon code? Or normal?

      • Code for everyone is 10% off, but the Plus code is 15% off.

  • Upgrade from 6900XT or Hold

  • What would you consider Best bang for buck. This or an RTX 5070 for $925-ish, after you factor in DLSS gains etc.

    • +1

With the Optiscaler mod, you can translate a very large percentage of games with DLSS into FSR4. This doesn't work with most online competitive games with anti cheat detections though.

      https://github.com/OptiScaler/OptiScaler

I would still pick a 16GB 9070 XT over a 12GB 5070 every day of the week and twice on Sundays, the only exception is if you're using it for a professional workload that specifically uses nvidia accelerated workflows.

    • -5

Get RTX 5070, I'm sick of AMD and their drivers issue, that keep on coming back, they fixed it, then later re-introduced it…i.e..Chrome crashing, whole PC freezes.

      • +2

to be honest the same could be said of Nvidia drivers these days.

      • +1

Haven't had any such issues. I went from a 3060 Ti (almost 5 years use) to a RX 9070 Non-XT. The only crashes I've had were due to an undervolt that wasn't stable.

My brother did have some freezing issues (7800 XT and Ryzen 3600, though he moved to AM5 anyway, no issues regardless since) but a DDU and chipset/GPU driver reinstall fixed all of it.

I've had a friend with a 3070 also have issues with random freezing, intel CPU. So I don't think your issue is isolated to AMD Drivers specifically.

It's just windows, tbh. Sometimes perfectly stable/no issues, other times not so much.

      • -2

This is the reason I went back to Intel, AMD break too many things

        • +1

Presumably you're talking about CPUs in this context but uh… Did you see all the issues with 13th/14th gen or we just gonna ignore that?

  • +2

A shame ram and shit is going up. Its making me not want to upgrade.

Thinking i might go a 9070 that will run on a 650w psu and do that until prices settle

    • Yep, ram prices and gen 4 ssds have almost doubled.

    • +1

The XT will run on the 650w tbh if it's a quality unit, but I have no qualms about getting the non XT model, I'm at 3440x1440 and runs BF6 smooth with a mix of high/ultra/medium settings (reduced settings that don't do a lot) with no upscaling getting 100-130fps (monitor can do 160). And the sapphire pulse I got runs surprisingly cool and quiet! And that's in my airflow limited case too. I was insanely surprised how cool it runs tbh - cooler than my recently cleaned and re-pasted RTX 3060 Ti!

  • I am looking for 5060 Ti (16GB) deals, any recommendation on where/when to buy?

    • +1

use pcpartpicker.com.au as its usaly pretty uptodate and it tracks this sort of question

    • +2

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/335916847366

      • same code as this deal = 679.2. Certainly not the lowest, though, and frankly hard to recommend when a Non-XT 9070 can be had for sub 800.

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-geforce-rtx-5060-ti-g… as an example. The non XT 9070 is up to ~45% faster at 1440p relative performance numbers.

IMO, if you must stick to Nvidia, you'd be better off with a ~800 dollar RTX 5070 deal unless you specifically need/want the 16GB of VRAM vs 12GB on the 70 class. (sadly I can't find a reasonably priced 5070 from futuonline that you'd be able to utilise this code for currently at a glance). But previous example: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/925959

Edit: Actually the palit is.. pretty close to current ATL on ozbargain. For the 5060 Ti. Lowest was 665 on the PNY model that I can see.

      • +2

thanks mate, I need the 16G for occasional code testing, and now tend to wait til black Friday for new low

  • +1

thanks mate, I finally took the plunge and got this.

  • I have a little steam machine (bazzite on a and 5600 and 660oxt in a LianliA4,-h2o). Wondering if this will is a good idea ?

  • Would this pair well with r7 7800x3d?

    • Depends on your display resolution and what games you're playing, but overall I'd say yes.

    • +1

I don't really think the depends response applies here personally. Answer is yes.
