Recently sold a Nintendo switch for $300, minus all Ebay junk fees, payout $222.

When scumbag marketplace lowballers make better offers, you know its a waste of time.

So I'll ask for a 20 percent discount next time i go cash

      • +2

I'll take your 20% discount over a 26% worth of Enshitification fees.

        • What other Ebay fees are there besides the 14% final value fee?

          • @MrZ: they try make you pay for a bunch of sponsors which takes more of a cut, then there's also a fixed value fee of $0.30

    • +3

      26% in fees, what a total rip-off.
It would have been cheaper to sell it at an auction house with a $300 reserve.

And don't eBay take a cut of the postage paid by the buyer from the seller as well anyway?

    • +3

Also add the risk of the buyer returning the item there goes return shipping costs and more time wasted reselling. Gone are the days of 0% final value fee promos

Been on the platform since the start but now longer worth it.

FB loweballers were offering $250 pickup. Wasted my time and money selling on Ebay.

        • +4

Same I stopped using it since they ended final value fee promos sure FB marketplace can be frustrating at times but its a much more worthwhile considering there no fees involved. eBay only ever makes sense if you're not in a major city or in a rural area

    • You must mean with postage too right?

    • +2

kinda your own fault for promoting the listing, not adding postage etc.

      • -1

Yeah but let the truth get in the way of someone hating.

FB as an alternative lol. No just no.

    • $300 for a Switch?? Was it an OLED? On FB the non-OLED Switches typically sell for $150-$200.

  • and can I just use it but not for ebay orders?

    • Only available for ebay orders.

    • +3

You definitely can't get people to buy via your ebay store for like a $1 item and you create a label that way, definitely don't go doing that

        Wink wink

Extra small is good price but most others are cheaper on band 1 with my post business.

  • This explains why my calculated OS postage rates charged by ebay declined over the weekend, eating into any band savings differences. Had to add a few extra dollars handling today to help offset :/

  • I was excited to hear this offer, but I just sold something and eBay gives 2% off…

This covers the cost of ink and paper that would otherwise be free if buying directly at the post office! (Bris -> SA)

I imagine this will be like one of the Shopback bonus "Up to" deals where its super rare to get the max bargain.

was your buyer in like rural WA or something? the 25% is if you're in Metro city and the buyer is also in the same metro city

      • Brisbane -> Quite a few hours from Adelaide.

I find the postage rates charts hard to decipher, so thanks for the info :) You're correct, a low rate because its rural I guess, but I was expecting more than 2%

        • +2

yeah unfortunately that's the case, even with Auspost Business Band 5, 40% savings is only same capitial city. Once it's rural interstate it drops to like 5% or less
