    Jetstar Melbourne Avalon Sale

    Avalon is not in Melbourne.

    It's right next to Geelong.

      Bit peDANtic

Avalon Airport is a domestic airport, located in Avalon in the City of Greater Geelong in Victoria, Australia.

Normally I love to pile on the jv negs but I'm not sure why you are being negged for this - Avalon is not in Melbourne. Good deal for people who live in Geelong or the far south western suburbs, though.

          • +2

@xyron: Agreed. Back when I was young and foolish I booked flights to Avalon.

Not sure if it's changed in the last decade or so but my god it was a piece of shit when i went there.

@Mr-NPC: Tbh the taxi is about the same duration / price to the south east suburbs as compared to Tullamarine. Maybe 10 minutes longer.

              • @BarneyKB: lol SE suburbs to Tullamarine is nowhere near the same duration as Avalon. I'm in Malvern and the trip to Tullamarine is about 35 min (non peak hour), whereas to Avalon is more like an hour.

                • @MrZ: I'm talking more about coastal e.g.: Sandringham/ black rock. It's 50 mins vs 1 hour to Avalon.

                  • @BarneyKB: Hmm, don't know what it's like during the day but checking the travel times now, it's showing 42 min from Black Rock to Tullamarine, vs 1 hr to Avalon.

              • +1

@BarneyKB: No tolls to pay to Avalon too.

          • @xyron: It's almost exactly like saying Wollongong is in Sydney

            • -2

@jv: Not really. Wollongong to Sydney is a much further distance than Melb to Avalon (84km vs 58km).

Really, Geelong and Avalon should be part of Melbourne, considering Portsea is over 100km from the CBD and still considered to be Melbourne.

                Not really.

                Yes really…

  • What’s there to do in Avalon?

What’s there to do in Avalon?

      Fishing in the river…

      Walking on the beach…

Taking your dog for a swim…

Why waste $29 flying to the Gold Coast ?

    • +3

      Wait for the next airshow

    • +4

What's there to do in Tullamarine? What's there to do in Mascot NSW?

    • faster transport to great ocean road :D

  • +4

Bus from avalon to melbourne cbd going to cost the same as the flight haha

    • +2

Parking is only $12 a day and it's right next to the terminal.

      • +1

Parking at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport is $12 a day with a 5 minute shuttle?

        • It's sneakily gone up in price recently, parked there this week and it was $16 per day. $14 pd if booked online.

I once flew from Avalon to Bali on AirAsia X Indonesia.

The airport terminal is tiny, but there is plenty of parking.

  • +2

Used it last month for JQ 634 and 635 to/from Brisbane. Not a bad little airport, nothing like the hustle and bustle of MEL. Very limited options for food understandably. Parked my car for a few days with zero issues which was pretty affordable, but take note it's an outdoor carpark.

  • +5

So $58 for same day return flights, that's awesome for someone that likes to fly for the sake of flying like me

    • +4

Yep plus it is only 30 min turn around. Just enough to see it all. 😅

  • Tx OP. Me and the kids going to gold coast in May lol. Guess i need a Ozbargain for accommodation next

  • +3

I do also think it's more appropriate to refer to Avalon Airport as Geelong Avalon not Melbourne Avalon

  • $29 to fly from Avalon to Melbourne?

    • I get to visit Saber!

Nice for those who live on the wrong side of the yarra

    • Not sure what the Yarra has to do with Avalon… do you mean the West Gate?

      • the Yarra literally runs directly underneath the westgate.
