Man that is not a good price

    • Elaborate? It looks like it's the cheapest it's ever been.

    • 12GB? Don’t they usually come in sticks of 16GB?

      • Soldered ram. They’re all 12gb for some reason.

        • Must be a rare earth shortage

          • @BatmanAU: Well, it does require an improbable combination of astrophysical and geological events and circumstances.

I have one of these and it's brilliant. Running trunas, reverse proxy W/SSL cert, immich and some other apps.

    • +1

I plan to migrate my Proxmox setup with OMV, Plex, Immich, and a few others over to it. I also run a Windows VM for Media Center Master which has to run on Windows so I'm a bit worried about capping out on RAM usage - the laptop has 32 GB. I'll schedule it to fire up in the middle of the night and shut off during the day so hopefully it's not too much of an issue.

      • +1

Not sure how much Plex uses, my use case half the RAM is still free,.thus a large amount is assigned to truenas cache

    • +4

I had to return mine - was overall faulty (HDMI, one of the Ethernet ports, slow speeds, etc.). Received, probably, one of the best customer service experiences in my life. They are very responsive. Beelink reimbursed the return postage, as well as gave me a discount for the 16GB RAM version. The 12 GB one has serious power issues as it is expected to run NVME PCIE 3.0 while most people use NVME PCIE 4.0. This issue has been addressed in the updated version.

      • Was your replacement the 16GB with or with out emmc?

        • -1

Without. They have removed the emmc in the 16GB version. Instead they have added 1TB SSD (at an extra cost of course).

          • +1

@Ozico: My purchase says '16GB, 64Gb emmc no ssd' so seems like there is another 16GB version with emmc!

            Shown here 4 option along - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009085036068.html?spm=a2…

            • @donniedarko3000: Yes, that's weird. But I ordered from the official site - they might have added this option. The one in your link is showing out-of-stock, btw :)
The official website only offers "16GB LPDDR5-4800 memory (soldered)+1TB Crucial SSD (Pre-order)"

              • +1

@Ozico: was in stock when I ordered and they have just replied saying its 64 GB with emmc so must be an updated version - this version seems to appear on reddit forum discussions around the issue on older emmc versions

  • Anything special about this other then n150? I want it more as a nas.

    • +5

Its main claim to fame is the 6x NVME slots and the big heat sink they screw onto as well as an integrated power supply. It's a neat little package.

      • 4tb max though :-/

        • +4

          4TB x 6 = 24TB.

          • -6

            @Indomietable: 8TB x 6 = 48TB, which it can't do :-/

            • +6

@dna level c: It's ok, your wallet can't do this either.

            • +6

              @dna level c: If you're putting $9k+ of SSD's into a $300 machine, I question your technical knowledge.

              • -2

                @abowen: Question yourself mate.

It's not necessarily about now, it's about the future as well, prices do drop over time.

                • +2

@dna level c: Sure but SSD prices took a decade to go down by 1/3.

So if that continued, it's $3k into a $300 machine in 10 years.

There would surely be better ones available that you'd be silly not to consider given it's still only 1/10 of PC

AND on top of that, you'd have been using this PC for a decade, so you'd likely want to replace it anyway if it hadn't died already

Once again, can't think of a scenario where this SSD limitation makes logical sense

  • +4

NVMe prices are through the roof at the moment - make sure you have a robust plan to source drives !

    • +2

My robust plan is to wait and hope :-D, suggestions for a better one?

      • +3

Just use mechanical hard drives like everyone else - unless you've got some very specific use cases, you don't need an SSD NAS.

This only has 2.5Gb networking so it's speed limited to 250MB/s and you can get this from a modern large mechanical drive in a normal NAS when transferring large files👌

        • I can't use 3.5" drives; space and noise are an issue in my small apartment. I'm currently using high capacity 2.5" drives but eventually I'd like to shift to an array of M.2 SSDs. I can wait if I need to and just supplement my maxed storage in the meantime with some 1 TB spare M.2s I have kicking around.

    • An NVME to SATA adapter for 6 HDDs installed into one of the NVME slots fixes the issue (partially!) :)

  • damn i'd have loved to grab the 16GB for that :( but none left

    • +2

I can see stock for the 16gb?

      • Not sure if I made a mistake there or if it genuinely wasn't showing at the time but I did managed to snag the "12G 64G no SSD" version for $277.55

        • 16GB showing for me for 195USD/298 AUD delivered

  • +2

Wow no stock left already! The 16GB would have been tempting. I already have the 12GB with 1TB and 4x 4TB and it is working great.

    • +1

I managed to snag a 16GB - may I ask what NVME you are using as Ill need to get some!?

  • It isn't really a good deal considering there's been this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/898533

    • +1

this has 6x NVMe M.2 slots
