Time to say bye-bye to Arctel weirdness, and I'm going back to SL as a "new customer" aka new name, email and phone number and bank details.

Blah blah 30-day cancellation notice, if the service is good and the price is right, there's no need to cancel.

Returning customers, who have previously been with Superloop and already received a six (6) month discount promotion, will not be eligible for a new promotion for a period of twelve (12) months.

Credit Card Surcharge
A 1% surcharge applies to all payments by card. You can pay by Direct Debit from your bank to avoid this charge.

Cancelling Your Plan

If you contact us via email to process a cancellation, for security reasons, we will contact you over the phone before processing your cancellation. If you are unable to contact us over the phone, please reach out to us on live chat for assistance.

Damn just signed up through econnex 1 month ago

    • I just checked, and Econnex doesn’t have Superloop plans.

      • I signed up from econnex for superloop

  • +2

Had superloop 500/50 last time but I never had speed above 250mbps and their speed boost never seem to work.

    • What router are you using?

      Were you on 5g band?

      • +1

Cant recall the TP-link router model and yes I was on 5ghz. I doubt the issue is with my router as I've never had this problem with Exetel or Tangerine. Im consistently getting 500mbps with Tangerine now.

        • Exetel is owned by Superloop, so it is kinda strange you don't have the problem with Exetel.

        • I'm just finishing up my superloop 1gig plan and got the advertised speed regularly if tested with a hardwire connection.

If you're using wifi there's a good chance it's not day enough to saturate your connection

    • thats not their issue, thats your router or cable, if you call them up they should help you.

      • +2

Obviously not Superloop but I’m on 500mbps with Arctel and after extensive testing my 250mbps speed is “normal”. It only gets above that early in the morning. It’s not always our equipment it can be just shit infrastructure / provider.

        • +2

If they promised you a speed in the contract they have to provide it to you, otherwise you can refer them to the ACCC or atleast tell them you are going to do so then you'll get better help

I've also been with Superloop and had a limitation where their boost wasnt working, then I was told to test it without connecting to my router so I had a cable directly from the NBN box to my PC and then the speed was normal so I replaced the ethernet cable and then it got fixed

Just my use-case tho, others probably different.

Signed up last year for $69/12 months. Chances there'll be another BF 12 month offer? Would be nice to churn less frequently

    • +1

Chances of Superloop having a Blacker Friday deal? Probably nil. They haven’t had more than one concurrent black Friday offer before.

Chances of another provider doing a 12 month offer? Absolutely possible, but entirely unexpected.

      • Hopefully Exetel do lol

Ideally you just switch every 12 months and stay on the same network.

    • Nice.

    • Same. I don't think I'll get another 12 month deal like that but hoping for some great cashback deals like Dodo had a few weeks ago on top of their 6 month promo.

  • This or Dodo NBN500 $62.99 6 months?

    • This

      • +1

        Why?

        • +2

I'm on dodo get 510mb download wired connection.

          Around 420mb on wifi

        • +1

Dodo is owned by Vocus. I hope Vocus gives Dodo better treatment because with More and Tangerine (which basically resells Vocus), Vocus doesn't do the NBN churn right away, you generally have to wait till the next day. Vocus doesn't tell More / Tangerine when it is going to happen.

Superloop, from experience, does the churn quite quickly. However, be aware of the 30-day cancellation notice. Customer reps may be able to help you to get that waived, especially if you are moving to Exetel (which is the same company). Superloop supports IPv6.

Regardless of which one you pick, remember to opt out of CGNAT. TopCashback seems to have cashback offers for both of them.

    • +1

But dodo seems to have huge problems with their ips most blocked in services such as chatgpt, Claude. Does not work it is blocked most of the time and need to use VPN.

    • +1

This. I signed up to Dodo and have had 5 days or disconnections, dropouts and 5 hours of customer service hell. Trying to cancel for a refund currently, never again. Every other provider has been fine, not Dodo.

    • +1

Purely our experience, had Origin Internet (HFC Superloop) and it very regularly had connection issues. Was on Dodo previously and churned back again, a lot fewer issues. Most if not all were base NBN issues.
Enough Origin Internet issues to rethink about trying them again even being substantially cheaper than the rest during their half price 6m sale.

      This is Bayside Melb.

  • +7

Damn, looks my last years Black Friday 1000 for $85/month is coming to an end finally

    • +1

Me too. I went with the dodo 500.

    • Yep same. Churning away next week after giving my 30 days.

  • +2

It took me over 6 months and constant harrassment to get the cash from topcashback, didn't think it's their fault but Superloop's.

    • +6

yeah i dont bother with cashbacks tbh, never got anything unless i harrassed them

      • I don't know about others but I have a dedicated browser just shopping with TopCashBack & ShopBack.

For example, I use chrome for day to day but Firefox is my dedicated cashback app. I also always make sure I'm logged in to a website prior to beginning the cashback process.

        • for Shopback and Cashrewards never needed that

TopCashBack however, they never track anything, tried with app today instead of browser will see if its any different.

Already tried on browser again with the Adidas deal last week and it never tracked as well lol

          • @Freestyle: I use TopCashback weekly, only using a browser (Edge) and I've never not had anything track. Works well in my experience.
I also use Shopback, no issues with them either.

            • @SimAus007: Genuine question: if they're not tracking, what's in it for them and the company offering the rebate?

I thought it was all for the data and spending habits, hence why the banks are in on it.

              • @Big L: They want it to track, cash back company take their cut of sales commission from the retailer, and we get what's left after their cut has been taken.
That's where they make their money.
What banks are in on it? If you are talking about Cash Rewards, ANZ owned that but shut that down over a month ago now, and there is no bank that owns Top Cash Back or Shop Back.
I think the usual reason sales don't track is down to user error.

                • @SimAus007: When I said tracking, I meant shopback or topcashback tracking the user and their spending habits, etc.

Westpac push shopback pretty hard on their app, it's not just for client engagement or rebates for them.

                  • @Big L: Ah fair enough, not with any bank that pushes it, so I've never seen this.

            • @SimAus007: yeah not sure, I obviously dont close all my tabs (too many i cant do this each time) I disable adblock but have other extensions running that could effect it

But its topcashback specific, on the same browser never had any issues with the other two

      • Can't say I've ever had an issue. Everything has tracked and paid out fine for me.

  • What is defined as new customer? if I left them July, still counted as new customer?

    • Same question but I left last week

I know abb etc is 6m

      • +2

new customer is 12m, from their t&c -"Returning customers, who have previously been with Superloop and already received a six (6) month discount promotion, will not be eligible for a new promotion for a period of twelve (12) months."

        • +4

          Fwohh
          Thats rough

        • Wonder if that’s 12 months from date of port away

    • Before last Black Friday, i was on Superloop, and wanted their BF deal, so i gave my notice and signed up under my husbands email. It worked but they took their revenge by starting the plan 3 weeks earlier than my chosen date so i wasted almost a whole month which was already paid for.

    • T&Cs say 12 months, but I asked customer service and they said if you’ve been away for more than 6 months, you’re considered a new customer. From my own experience, I cancelled Superloop in March and rejoined in October (7 months later) using the same personal info and still got the new customer discount.

To be safe though, I’d still suggest signing up with a different name, email, and bank account just in case.

      • I was with Superloop until late May this year before switching to Leaptel. Have just switched back to SL yesterday (so slightly under 6 months) and was still eligible for the new customer discount.

If you've recently left Superloop, it's worth calling them and asking if you'd be considered a new customer. Their overseas customer service was surprisingly helpful when I called but I'm sure YMMV

  • +5

    Prefer 500/50 Leaptel for $79.95 a month (12months)

Previous BF SL deal was for 12 months

    • +1

Why do you prefer paying more for the same speeds? Just because you're locking in 12 months?

      • +5

        Australian support v offshore

        Leaptel isn’t locked in

        • -1

          ive never needed nbn support

          • +16

@Far Cough: ive never needed insurance until you do
ive never needed a dash cam until they reversed into me
ive never needed a job until I didnt have one
ive never needed public transport until my car didnt work
ive never needed health care until i got sick
You will never need NBN support until you do then once your on the phone line listening to hold music then you need fast local support

            • -1

@mrkorrupt: Telstra's customer service is nice.

        • this isnt locked in either no?

    • +1

Justifying your neg by saying you'd rather spend almost 20% more at a competitor is a wild take.

      • +4

Negged more so for the 30 day cancellation

  • +71

30 day cancellation notice period should be outlawed by ACCC.

    • Yes somebody file a lawsuit
Internet cannot be luxury but necessity and you cannot force anyone to stay with you

    • +9

      This.

Superloop's 30 day cancellation notice requirement classifies as a dark pattern (forced continuity - see link below). This opens them to potential legal ramifications should it be proven that this practise results in financial loss or a breach of consumer rights for a customer. I'd suggest it regularly causes both.

    • +5

"Thank you for writing to us about Superloop. We appreciate you reporting your matter to us. When we take action, it's to remedy market problems that cause widespread consumer or business detriment. We also act if these problems harm the competitive process. The information you have provided is helpful to that work.

The ACCC isn't a complaint handling body so we can't resolve individual disputes. However, while I acknowledge that you are reporting broader concerns about the conduct of the business and have made a record of this, we can offer you information on next steps to assist you to resolve this dispute with your telecommunications provider."

I reported them to the ACCC last year for this policy

    • +1

It's not enforceable anyway. Just block and/or chargeback if they try.

    • I managed to get a month free by submitting the 30 day cancel notice then cancelling it in the last minute and continuing their service under a cheaper deal. But still, (profanity) superloop for doing this.

    • I find it helpful to cancel in advance. If I am going to stay with superloop for 6 months, I let them know pretty much 6 month in advance.
      Super loop customer service:
      Phone: 1800 578 737 (Everyday 8:30am - 10:00pm AEST)
Live Chat: Via the chat bubble. I find the chat bubble helpful.

This way I am never in the loop for that 30 days and always hunting for next churn

  • +4

am leaving SL because end of 12 months. can not wait to be a new customer to join another. any good deals/suggestion?

    • +1

      500/50 with Leaptel - $79.95/month for 12 months

      • That's on my top list. They are awesome too. Thanks

        • Maybe wait a few days to see if they have a Black Friday deal

          • +1

@Kyogre89: Surely I will wait until the last minute to decide which one to go. Still a bit time till actual BF

  • I ma paying 74 for 100/20 from last BF deal, no upgrade. Anyone got any retainer promo from SL?

    • +1

I got offered $80 for 500/50 for 6m to stay, gave 30d notice and am switching to Dodo for $63 and $100 cashback from Topcashback. The lack of interest in retaining existing customers by all NBN providers is just rude.

  • Amazing Find! Just signed up for 1000/100 and got the $95 cashback and $30 cashback from the Viofo dashcam. Thanks again

    • what's $30 cashback from the Viofo dashcam?

  • +2

Currently on superloop and paying 89pm for 1000/100. My previous offer was $79pm for 6 months.
I hope leaptel has a good offer soon so I can swap over.

  • My Superloop 6month offer is almost up from the last one they ran - just switched to Arctel yesterday who are running 500/50 for $65 a month also. Not affiliated, wouldn't even know where a referral code is even if I wanted to give it out, just did my research and sharing

also doing 1000/100 for $80 if thats your flavour

    • +2

I’ve had terrible speeds on Arctel, half of advertised through most waking hours. Also OP is referring to Arctel weirdness, YMMV…

      • I'm on Arctel 500Mbps download in Melbourne and thought my speeds were a bit average. But after doing some testing when connecting directly to my modem I was getting 520Mbps down. Only when connecting through my router was that number reduced to 380Mbps.

This is my first time on this speed tier and my router is somewhat old so it might be a limiting factor. Obviously your situation might be completely different but just though I'd share my experience in case it helps.

        • For sure helps give data points for future use!

I tried all sort of combinations - found that my router had 100gbps LAN ports so got a new one. Tested it wired, wireless, across devices, heaps of settings. Along the way found out my AppleTV just doesn’t seem to be able to access more than 30mbps but that’s not Arctels fault, but in the end I did manage to get close to 500mbps wired but only early morning. I get congestion is a thing but when you’re practically only getting 250 for most of the usable hours to me it’s falsely advertised.

          • @zfind: Yeah half the advertised speed definitely sucks 😔

      • just ran a speedtest and got 510/47, 5pm sydney

no issues with arctel so far

  • +2

Thanks! Signed up before the cashback ends at midnight

    • +1

      anytime brother xx

    • Good call!

      • I’m also having my cashback tracked.

    • +1

Guess what!! It's $110 now after it expires!

  • Lost a billion. I just changed to it a week ago.

  • -1

Signed up after that amazing Telstra deal. TopCashBack tracked within 5 minutes.

    Thanks OP.

  • +1

Pretty disappointing offer from Superloop, I feel that they went too aggressive in their September speed enhancements and this is a weak Black Friday special for Superloop a few $$ and the same 6 month term is hardly anything to jump up and down for even if they made it 12 months that would’ve been better. Superloop no longer can pride themselves on great support, check product reviews and sort by recent very awful feedback coming through.

  • +3

i just do not like superloop. 30 day notice period. i hate being locked in

    • Do you just give 30days and after 30 days you sign up to another provider ? No extra costs right?

      • +2

You have to give 30 days notice, and then they will call you to "confirm cancellation" and will try to persuade you to stay, so it's not enough that you do it electronically, you also have to spend 3-5 mins with customer service and keep saying "no thank you, i want to switch" everytime they come up with an "offer". It's annoying.

        • +2

I submitted my cancellation request on the AI chat. 1st time on the 5th, then when i followed up on 8th,it said nothing noted on my account, so i did it again. And just got the email saying my cancellation date is the 5th. Good i dont have to talk to them
