@boomramada: I think some people here developed knee-jerk reflex when they see jv + bold + something they don't understand. lmao

No, none of them do unless add alcohol/sugar or some sugar substitutes.

      • sugar substitutes

        Such as allulose

      • +1

rum or bourbon seem like a good choice! Now to just sell the idea to MrsKnowItAll that it's "for the kids"

    • Nah you need to add glycerine as food safe antifreeze

  • Do aldi still do 60 day returns?

  • +1

No idea how it stacks up, but Kmart do a slushie maker for $20 less (if you can get your hands on one): https://www.kmart.com.au/product/slushie-maker-black-4361023…

Good luck finding one. Or maybe now they will mysteriously have ample stock prior to these Aldi ones.

Kmart ones Built poorly full Of plastic components but does similer job. Never find one tho

      • +1

what's wrong with plastic for cold/wet things?

  • How does it work?

You add milk and cream (sugar etc) and it will turn it into ice cream?

    • Same theory as the Ninja Creami, based on the pacojet.
Freeze the "custard" and the device blends it into a smooth, ice cream-like texture

      • so it's basically a glorified blender?

        • Honestly, yeah. It moves the blade vertically, and there would be some considerations for the motor + blade to ensure it can go through frozen stuffs, but yeah its basically a specialised blender.

      • That's a little annoying.

I think I'll just save some money and buy 2L of Bulla ice cream for $5.50 lol

  • $199 is a lot of slurpees.

  • Just curious how it compares to the Kmart one… I've seen the Kmart one doing soft serve etc so not just slushies

    • Ice Cream and Frozen Treat Maker

      • That's a different product than what muddrex was asking about. The Kmart Slushie maker advertises it can do ice cream while the Aldi Slushie maker does not.

They are in essence the same product with a compressor and screw to churn mixture.

Maybe the Kmart one can get colder which is why it advertises it can, maybe the Aldi one can get even colder than the Kmart one but doesn't advertise it can make ice cream because they are selling a separate ice cream maker (that appears to work like the Ninja Creami). Maybe that design is just terrible at making ice cream which is why Aldi doesn't advertise it but Kmart does.

        • Exactly… while the Kmart one, the Ninja one, and this Aldi one all seems to be similar/same type of product. I haven't heard much review on the Ninja one being able to make good soft serve while the Kmart has definitely had fb groups with multiple posts that it successfully made soft serve. That's why I'm hesitant if they are indeed "the same" kind of product with comparable functionality.

        • Its important to understand that the Kmart device can only make ice cream with very specific ingredients and sugar/fat ratio.

I would more call it accidental ice cream more then an ice cream machine.

For example, you can't make healthy ice cream with the Kmart one, you need the Ninja or potentially the Aldi ice cream machine listed here.

          • @samfisher5986: Yeah it doesn't seem like it's a good way to make ice cream.

Ninja Creami or Aldi alternative that can turn a protein shake into ice cream is much better.

          • @samfisher5986: I wasnt expecting ice cream but soft serve. There had been many successful posts around making soft serve. Personally, when i make soft serve, im not really thinking healthy but thats just my personal preference,

In 5 years time at the rubbish tip there will be a pile of slushie machines and there will be sign commemorating “the slushie machine wars of 2025”…😅

    • +1

i assume it'll be an art installation in Fed Square, melted slushie machines showing the juxtaposition of how the rise of the slushie wars lead to peak global warming, which in turn melted the machines which symbolically help caused it.

not if we throw them into the ocean instead!

  • The ninja is $358 through everyday rewards. After the 28% cashback (providing you actually get it) that's around $260

    • Bought and it tracked in about 20min. See how it goes

      • How's it looking now? Did you get it?

        • Got the ninja, cashback is 90days. Received the email saying $100ish is coming in cashback. Hopefully

  • Got one today. There was about 15-20 in stock at store open. This batch sold out in the first half hour.

    Missed Kmart
    Missed Bunnings
    Missed Spotlight

Happy now. We made our first slushie.

Was hoping to get one with the soft serve setting, but this will do.

Does anyone have the soft serve recipe from Kmart/Bunnings etc. Would like to try it in this machine.

    • Have you used it yet? Thoughts? What drinks if you have tested.
      Thanks

      • Yes, Have made slushies every day (haven't even tried the other settings yet).

        Generally happy with the unit.

If the ingredients are cold it's ready in about 10 minutes. 20 minutes otherwise.

I have it set at the lowest setting, as we prefer the drinks more runny.

Only Negative issue so far that had occurred twice so far, if left running for a while without being used there would be a frozen bit at the exit causing a blockage at the outlet.

The blades are not great at keeping the outlet clear, but a poke with your finger can easily unblock it.
