Next week's upcoming Coles gift card deal!

The best card is TCN Shop, for 15% off Uber/Uber Eats, however Village Roadshow Theme Parks is listed on the "Choice" card, and given theme park tickets are rarely on sale, 15% off is pretty good.

    Now we’re talking.

    • +11

      No good stores though.

      • +1

Supercheap Auto and BCF make me want to get a few Choice cards.

      • +2

15% off Uber Eats save my lazy arse during work. Been too long with only 10% or even 8%.

        • +1

I guess but they are still ripping you off with that. The costco doordash ones might be better though

        • Which one to use for Uber?

      • rebel sport extra 15% off is good

    • i need to spend $100 a week for the points promotion, does the TCN card purchase count?

      • Nope, no gift cards are counted towards the promo target.

  • Is there some way to stop these gift card posts showing up for a search alert for "lego" deals?

    • +3

I'm no expert but perhaps setting the alert on something like:

      lego type:ozbdeal option:titleonly

    • +5

Remove your search alert for LEGO, which just alerts you to anything with the text 'LEGO'; and replace it with a subscription to the LEGO brand tag, which will generally only alert you to deals for LEGO products.

      • Thanks, that's a bit better although it still has "LEGOLAND discovery centre" in places 2500kms away from me. Still, better than non-stop gift card/Steam game alerts because the word 'lego' appeared somewhere.

  • No TCN Gift?

  • +1

do shops like BBQ galore and BCF ect limit the number of gift cards you can use for one large purchase ?

    • Following as keen to know too if anyone has tried using more than a few.

    • Hi, did you manage to confirm this?

    • +2

i was told no limit but need to come to the store to purchase

  • +5

    No JB or TGG anymore?

    • +13

Correct (unless TCN adds JB Hi-Fi or The Good Guys to one of these gift cards in the future, which I doubt would happen).

This deal is a carbon-copy of last year's Black Friday gift card deal at Coles. The last Black Friday gift card deal at Coles that featured JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys was in 2023.

      • So how dos one get discounted EB / Jbhifi cards now ?

  • +1

i didnt even know we had a theme park in this country aside from the very sad Luna Park.

    • +7

Probably because you’ve never been to the Gold Coast, QLD.

      • +3

        Or out of Sydney

        • +3

Or talk to anyone at all

    • Tasmazia awaits you!

      (insert Pissweak World gags)

    • +2

Apart from Luna Park Sydney, there are quite a few other around Australia.
      Magic Mountain
      Jamberoo Action Park
      Aussie World
      Dreamworld
      Sea World
      Warner Bros. Movie World
      Wet'n'Wild
      WhiteWater World
      Gumbuya World
      Luna Park, Melbourne
      Adventure World

  • +7

Beware of hacking. They take 24-48 hours to activate and make sure you use them within 24hours after activation. These are VERY prone to hacking.

    • +1

      I thought that was patched?

      • I highly doubt it, I hope so.

        • +6

It was national news and they gave the guy who found it his money back and they put a captcha on the page (I know what one it was because I figured out how they did it). It was fixed in about 3 days. I think you should be fine. I only asked that because I thought maybe there was another way but I don't think there is. Anyway you shouldn't just read the headline. Follow up so you know the result also.

          • @HaydosK: captcha just takes it from embarrassingly trivially easy to slightly harder

            • @realaccount627465746: Well the guy suggested rate limiting also. Ofc there are ways to get around it but it would slow you down a lot.

    • +3

I recently bought a TCN gift card that had been hacked. All the funds disappeared just two days after I bought it. Getting a refund was a real hassle.

      • +4

same here~ I am avoiding any TCN gift cards

      • How recently?

      • very true getting a refund was a real hassle. Need to do Statutory Declaration eventhou it was not our fault. I am avoiding TCN gift cards.

        • Hi @AppleLime. I bought 5x $200 TCN GoodFood and have been advised by support all five have been hacked and redeemed into digital. What was the process for you to get your money back?

      • Yep username got hacked confirm

    • +2

      How do they get hacked?

      • +1

Dodgy website that allowed brute force of pin's. It's been fixed for a couple of months now though, but yeah, leaves a bad taste in your mouth hey.

        • Definitely not looking to buy tcn anymore but I'm 99% sure it's fixed so I don't get why people are saying it's still happening

          • @HaydosK: My incident happened beginning of October (just checked) so it is quite recent. I do hope its fixed, but I wouldn't be so sure.

            • @joeiwu: Hmmm. It might have been tampered with them. That's a shame.

              • @HaydosK: Nope. 3 different gift cards all looked tamper free. Happens about 3-4 days after activation. Used in different NSW JB stores. I bought them and reside in VIC.

            • @joeiwu: Hi @joeiwu. I bought 5x $200 TCN GoodFood and have been advised by support all five have been hacked and redeemed into digital. What was the process for you to get your money back?

              • @UnnecessarySpendings: Hey, sorry to hear. Contact support straight away and prove possession and also with receipt. Call them first then lodge a ticket they will ask for photos etc..for me took about a week and half of chasing to get full refund into bank account.

                • +1

@joeiwu: Thank you! Luckily I scanned my Flybuys so I have the digital receipts. I will forward all of these to TCN support.

      • +1

I'm not sure but its not tampered or physically hacked. Its totally remote. Mine happened as recently as 2 months ago. 3 different gift cards, all interstate spent.

        • Well it was still a problem 2 months ago if you look at the video linked above. It should be fixed and hopefully you can get your money back as they said they would try and help people affected as it was national news and it was quite bad PR for the company. Still I don't like tcn for not caring about that guys emails until his video went viral.

          • @HaydosK: Just checked, my "incident" was more like 1 month ago (happened beginning of October) so really not all that long ago. I would hope its fixed, but I'm unsure given how recent it has happened to me.

          • +1

@HaydosK: I’ve got some that are ~a year old, unused and unopened. Is there something I should be doing to make sure I’m protected in case it’s been brute forced? Like physically open it in store? I don’t even know if that’s a thing but damn… that’s scary

            • @Dealzallday: Hate to break it to you, but more than likely some are already used. I’d check the balance online and see what the damage is. And if not, you are lucky! I’d use them up asap.

            • +1

@Dealzallday: You're doing it wrong keeping GC >1 year (I'm speaking as someone who's making same mistake). Not only do you risk forgetting about them, it's probably at risk of getting hacked.

    • They activate instantly

      • +1

Not in my experience a month ago. Tried and it didn’t swipe and receipt says up to 48 hours for activation.

        • Not sure about in person, I only ever use mine online. I always use them or swap them for vouchers straight after I buy and it always works.

  • Where EB :(

    • +4

Usually in any decent shopping centre

    • No jbHi fi? No buy for me.

  • +3

Just be aware that to use these card online you need to check whether the retailer accepts online and most likely you have to convert to the retailer voucher.

    • +2

This is the safest thing to do. These cards are prone to 'hacking'. By converting them to a specific retailers gift card immediately after purchasing the card your funds are 'locked away' as a retailers gift card.

  • Bit confused if Good Food is just accepted at listed venues or all Eating Places and Restaurants (MCC 5812) or Drinking Places (MCC 5813)?

    • +1

That gift card works at all merchants using MCC 5812 or MCC 5813 (except ShopBack), subject to individual merchant acceptance.

This comment from earlier today may be of interest to you.

      • I’m worried that the website still has only a few high end places and I just bought $300 worth! Hopefully you’re right :(

    • Also worked for me in

      5811: Caterers
      7011: Lodging: Hotels, Motels, Resorts

    • The TCN Restaurant card works on more places than this.

  • +1

Baby Bunting 15% is a good deal

    • +6

Not for those with zero babies

      • Good for colleagues or friends having babies and you need to buy them a gift

  • +1

Could these be used at a Nike/adidas/New Balance DFO store?

    • +4

I accidentally swiped a TCN Choice Card at the Nike Outlet at Birkenhead Point a few months ago and it approved, despite it not being a participating retailer on that exact card. Do this at your own risk though as it might not work.

      • interesting

    • +1

Hadn't been a problem for me in the past.

  • Limit 5 Gift Cards per customer

    Ugh

    • +2

      The workarounds are:

      • Purchase more gift cards in a separate transaction. However, considering there are usually signs at the gift card shelf saying there is a limit of 5 gift cards per customer, staff may make it very difficult for you to purchase more in the same visit (or even on the same day).

      • Go to a different Coles store and purchase more gift cards. I am of course assuming you are actually located in Sydney and not a small town with only one Coles in the area (e.g. Bathurst, Orange, Nowra). I am also assuming the other Coles stores you visit actually have the gift cards you want in stock.

Wear a jacket and a hat, go in, buy from a regular cashier, go to car, remove jacket and hat, go in, buy from service counter.

        • and one last purchase… just wear your undies :-))))

    Tempted to buy some Yeti

    • Yeti in BCF is more expensive than other shops

      • Looking for the YETI Rambler Straw Mug 42 oz for under $70

      • bcf prices matches

  • +1

How many gcs do you guys buy normally? I’m thinking of getting $500 worth of gcs, is it too much? :D

    • +1

If you know what you're buying, as much as you can. I remember buying $6k+ during the $250 Coles MC days…

      • I mean I shop a lot from H&M and Tkmaxx and use ubers after nights out every weekend so that’s the only reason I want to buy them lol

        • +2

Go ahead and stock up. But make sure you know how much each card has left on it. Uber if you can pre-load the cards onto a balance, thats best.

        • Do you take ubers back to a home you own or

          • +1

@King Steuart: Depends on the night ;) I hope tonight it won’t be mine haha

  • +1

    Waiting for JBHIFI / OFFICEWORKS…..

  • They take a picture of you through autocheckout when you buy gift cards and activate them them right there. Probably with checkout attendant with assisted checkout I imagine too. Happened when buying some Myers/David Jones GC for Mother's Day.

  • +4

15% off Uber is pretty darn good

    • +1

Just bought 10% off today haha

    • How about Good Food GC? It worked at Doordash before if I remember correctly. And that it holds more value if so.

      • If you're after DD why don't you get through Costco for 20% off?

        • I neither have costco member or live near the store.

I mean if Good Food works with DD then shall work with uber eat too since they both are under same category.

Unlike TCN Shop will always ozbargained, Good Food stock lasts longer and comes with higher face value.
