[VIC] RODRET Wireless Dimmer/Power Switch, Smart White $5 @ IKEA (Springvale)

250

On sale at $5 at Springvale in store. https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/rodret-wireless-dimmer-power-sw… Listed as $10 online I'm not sure whether other stores would have them on sale as well.
Seems like a good option for Zigbee wireless switches. Much better deal than the Ikea SOMRIG which only has one button.

Requires 1x AAA battery but not included.

Speaking of…not sure where to put this but there were stack and stacks of Ikea LADDA 1900/2450mAh batteries for $10/4p and $15/4p respectively. Lots of AAAs as well. They seem to be wiped out from the website but definitely plenty of them.

I also did notice that a lot of the items that were listed as "Last chance to buy" had substantial discounts as well

Here's the proof for the AA batteries. https://pasteboard.co/E9dMIcBrrUKD.jpg

Sorry, I was too busy trying rush through the store instead of taking photos for OzB so I don't have that many nice photos of everything

    • That looks like a stack of picture frames, was it near their smart electricals section?
I was there a couple of weeks ago and wanted to see if they had it back in stock but couldn't see any but I'll be kicking myself if they had them stocked back then too but I just didn't look in the right section.

      • In the lighting section. Market Hall

Yes next to smart lighting I think

Must be making way for their new 21 product Matter range.

This is it. Hold out for their Matter devices.

      • Exactly.

        • For those wondering, I was in an IKEA today and they have 3 of the Matter range so far.

Door sensor, motion sensor, temperature sensor.

Shame, I wanted the buttons mostly but glad to see them at least start with something now.

I have a couple of these. They work great with home assistant. They can function as dimmers as well as switches. Single press light on or off, double press brighter or darker.

    • Do you have to "link" them to Ikea smart lights, or could that be any smart lights? Or do you set them up through home assistant automations?

      • It's all running through home assistant using zigbee. My globes are all LIFX.

        • Thanks. Sorry but I'm not familiar with zigbee, do you need a hub? All my smart lights are connected to my wifi. Should they connect to the zigbee hub instead?

@ShouldIBuyIt: These switches need zigbee. I have a Home Assistant Yellow which has the zigbee hub built in. You can pick up a decent USB hub for ~20AUD delivered on AliExpress.

You need to hook them up to a ZigBee integration in home assistant (using ZHA or zigbee2mqtt via a compatible hub/dongle), then you can integrate them with whatever devices Home Assistant supports (so pretty much anything).

I bought two. One paired fine and the other couldn't complete the handshake. While Ikea devices are cheap, I find there's a good chance they fail to pair.

    • I found them to be pretty flaky in HA. Connected via Zigbee2mqtt and a Conbee II USB. How do you have yours set up?

I'm using a few of IKEA Somrig (similar to these but with extra actions) with Z2M and Sonoff USB dongle and find them great. No issues at all.

IKEA Adelaide had the SOMRIG out for $9 yesterday. Less another 10% if you use their app.

There was a few other things out cheaper but forget exactly what, SYMFONISK wall bracket was one of them for $15.

    • I went yesterday to the Adelaide store and these were $5 too with the shortcut ones for $6. Also the motion sensors for $6.50. Couldn’t find the AAA batteries though

  • I checked at Tempe earlier this week (knowing that the switch to Matter was coming) but there weren't any markdowns. Not sure if that's changed.

  • Thanks! Bought some batteries at IKEA Rhodes in NSW, plenty of stock there: https://easyrebuild.com/stock?country=au&itemNo=505.046.92
They can be scanned with the app but adding to shopping cart fails with an error, so no 10% app discount in store for now :-(
