This previously popular CPU is back on sale for a new all time low price. Given that this is an AM4 CPU it's best suited for those with an existing build who want to maximise their core/thread count for productivity tasks instead of gaming.

For further savings stack with upsized TCB/SB cashback and join Team OzBargain to get 10% back as AliExpress shopping credit.

This one features16 cores, 32 threads, base clock of 3.4GHz, boost clock of 4.9GHz and 105W default TDP. Obviously if you're doing a brand new build for gaming you'll want to skip this one and go for the newer AM5 platform. This isn't a CPU designed for gaming.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

AliExpress trade in USD and the ~ before the AUD price in the deal means about or roughly. Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate.

5800x3d or event 5700x3d would be more tempting… upgrading from 3900x

Good luck ever getting X3D's on sale for a good price. Stock is pretty much exhausted.

Kicking myself for not picking up a cheap 5700x earlier this year.

    • Same. Left it too late and I had to settle for a 5800x.

This isn't good for gaming? Would it be better than a 1700X for gaming?

    • you'd get a decent performance boost, first gen ryzens weren't great for gaming,

      • +1

I've had no problems with my 1700X, even in CPU-bound games at 1440p - so even though I keep hearing people say it's bad for gaming, it sounds like that's really true.

What they mean is that if you're only interested in gaming, not running VMs, encoding video or working on complex spreadsheets, there are better options for the same or less money. But if you want to do those other things as well as play games, this still looks like an excellent choice.

    • Yep it's definitely an improvement. My statement is more going from like a 5600X or 5700X to this.

    • Massively so.

In 2022, I swapped out a 1700 for a 5600 with minor PBO tweaks to get 4650mhz all core,
~40% better on single core, ~25% better on multicore with 2 less CPUs.

If you're staying on AM4 - Zen 1 -> Zen 3 is well worth the effort.

      • Which mobo do you have? I've got the top gigabyte X370 board but my RAM is stuck at 2333, and I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading the CPU - but this is the best one for AM4 and the price is extremely tempting.

Didn't expect there are still stocks for 5950x.

Tempting. But my 5800x is still solid as fxxk.

  • Wait what am I doing wrong only getting AU$433.29 huh

    • +3

Change your pricing into USD at the top right.

Then at checkout, with the coupon it will be USD$225.83, which is currently $346.79 AUD at Mastercard's going rate.

PayPal also has worse rates for currency conversion, so you have to change into USD and pay your bank's international fee which will be lower.

  • im loving mine with a 4070 super for BF6

  • I got one of these in an earlier deal and single core performance is fine, but I don't seem to be getting the multi-core performance. eg, 100 seconds for linux kernel compile vs 77 average benchmark result. Could this be due to using a cheap motherboard with poor VRMs?

  • Worth upgrading from a 3700x ? Mainly gaming
