Not as good as just expired Voda $119 deal which had 300GB data and overseas free Zone 1 and 2 calls.
    Waiting for better.

    • +17

Optus vs Voda network. Not like for like for some people

      • -2

        They are sharing towers now.

        • +4

Some are still reporting different coverage in earlier comments. Not going to argue as I’m just posting for the deals only :)

Also not true for this for Voda:

overseas free Zone 1 and 2 calls.

Voda website says 6000 mins to Zone 1, 1200 mins to Zone 2. amaysim is unlimited international calls and text to 28 countries

          • -1

@BargainsGrabber: Horses for courses I suppose. I prefer a wider list of countries to choose from and am not a heavy caller to any of them given other communication options such as Signal, WhatsApp etc.

        • +2

It's not just coverage, it's capacity. When I was with them, I couldn't even phone or SMS in busy shopping centres.

          • @Make it so: Voda or Optus?

            • @Tiggrrrrr: Voda of course. They've got only 1 shared tower around my area. But also TPG (Voda) were the only one to provide me with 5G home broadband. Weird.

            • @Tiggrrrrr: Voda. Optus has generally always been good for me. At my home, Voda barely had reception despite being a suburb within 15 minutes of Perth CBD (haven't checked very recently though)

              • @Make it so: Oh cool. Thanks for verifying. I changed my parents' service to Optus, as the service at their place (near Serpentine) is actually better using Optus than either Telstra (who they were with) or Vodafone (mobile NBN). Constant drop outs before, now been rock solid.

        • +1

          regional areas only

        • Optus is fine for me. Vodafone is terrible. I'm currently using Felix and it's almost unusable in inner city Melbourne. The key difference is that 5G is poor at penetrating buildings, so you need a good 4G network to fall back on. Optus has that, whereas Vodafone doesn't.

        • +1

          Coverage isn't shared though.

I get reception with Optus when I'm on the company potty but Voda gets nothing.

      • Yea Vodafone is the worst network in my area.

        • +2

Telstra is worst in my area too, and only Optus has stronger signal

          So YMMW :)

  • -1

What if you are already with Amaysim?

    • +4

Im guessing you have to port out first

      • How about getting a new number?

    • Usually I let it get near to expire until they send a renewal offer, I think I renewed last November for $129

      • -1

Yeah think Amaysim's parent company, Optus, is getting greedy.
My plan renews in less than 2 weeks and still no offer. Contacted their support twice, and both occasions told I've never paid full price (renewal offers, hello!)
And if there is an offer sent, to keep an eye out on my emails.
I have found Amaysim's support to now not be as friendly and helpful, and on both occasions it took ages to connect to a rep.
Im guessing Optus will ruin Amaysim and what they once were in no time too.
Reality is, I wont pay their "loyalty tax" and will just move elsewhere with heaps of Black Friday deals.

        • +4

I will report back. I am about to contact them for my son's yearly prepaid renewal.

          • @amsaini15: Please do!

            • @Funky-munky: No luck. The best they can do is 50% off on $270 plan (220gb) which is $135. But this deal is $115. So contemplating if it is worth changing provider and coming back for $20 difference.

        • +1

I've renewed in may. I'm on the grandfathered $120 plan for 4 years now. I got 50%, 50%, 25% (max they would allow) and this year I didn't want to negotiate hence I just told them I'd be happy with 15% off and they gave it to me straight away - paid $102.

          • @ShouldIBuyIt: Yeah you're lucky. They're not offering me anything (at this stage)
Im more than happy to port though in 12 days. Not fussed

          • @ShouldIBuyIt: Do you renew/ recharge before the expiry date or on the expiry date to roll over unuse data?

            • @bargainfinder: I renewed before the expiry date as I wanted to keep my options open in case I had to port out. Didn't want to leave it to last day and be stuck with whatever was available that day as alternative…

        • Call up and ask for the Retentions Team. They seem to be able to do more than the frontline help.
I'm on a pretty good legacy plan that I have to call up every six months to renew but they've always been accommodating. When you get the deal, ask for a receipt number for the call and take note of who you spoke to and what time and day in case they try to back out (never happened to me, just in case. Good luck.

Anyone can comment on 5g network strength in Melbourne cbd area? Assuming 5g is supported on this plan. Cheers!

    • +2

5G struggles to penetrate buildings in the inner city, so it depends where you are.

  • +6

Grabbed one for one of the kids. Less than $10 a month can't go wrong.

    • +1

I wouldn't mind getting one for my nephew's so they could play pogo, but $120.. hmm that's testing how much I love them :/

Aggravatingly there's a of a desert with yearly Sims. Id much prefer a $50 option that had say 50gb of data, but you either get $30 a year with frick all data or $100 with more data than a kid would need

      • +1

Low data and low price long expiry sims are things of the past.

      • Yep we keep ending the year with about 95% of the data unused

    • Disappointed that this purchase didn't track. Not sure what's going on with TCB for me lately but this will be the third untracked purchase to be resolved. Temu, Amazon and now Amaysim.

      • Same for me, AliExpress tracked but not Amaysim.. same device ,same setup. Lodged a claim with all details, will be gutted if they don't honor the cash back.

      • Yeh mine didn't track either - first one that hasn't tracked with TC.

  • +4

YMMV - I purchased this when it had the $40 offer and it didn't track.

Purchased heaps of times on TCB with no problems. Same networks, settings device etc and Amaysim is the first retailer that didn't work.

Now have a manual ticket in with TCB which says could take up to a few months to resolve :(

    • +3

Speak directly with TA, guys a legend

      • Who’s TA? Mine also didn’t track

      • I did on the other deal. Just got told to put in a ticket which I did. Didn't realise it could take 2-3 months to be resolved though.

  • Literally bought this 2 days ago with $40 cashback :(

  • +4

    When does this deal expires?

  • Can you buy 2 sim cards on 2 separate transactions?

    • I think you can, as long as you purchase in two transactions and click through from TCB each time

    • Confirm it worked for me, two transactions both tracked

      • May i ask how long does it take to get tracked?

        • I've bought three now - first two tracked within an hour, third one took half a day

      • My first one hasn't tracked.

        • has it been tracked yet?

          • @hattori9x: Nope. I have raised a missing cashback claim again. They are normally good with missing cashback claims.

  • how long to activate? i just started a new monthly deal that is good to renew for 6 months. I was planning on getting this and activating it 6 months from now.

    • +2

      20 days.

      • dang it

      • It says on the website 'Ongoing is $270 for 200GB/365 days. Ends 23/11/25. Activate by 22/12/25. T&Cs and Fair Go Policy apply'

        • +4

eligibility for the cashback states "Mobile Terms: SIM must be activated within 20 days of purchase and must remain active on that plan for a minimum of 30 days. Failure to do so will result in cashback being declined"

  • +1

I am currently with Optus , since amaysim uses Optus network, can I get this deal?

    • +5

Yeah porting between MVNOs that share the same network provider is not an issue nowadays.

      • +1

        Thanks @vawiyoci

I am in the same situation (currently with Optus pre-paid and want to port to this Amaysim deal).

        • +4

I did it last night. Smooth as butter

  • Great deal with calls and texts overseas too!

Purchased and tracked 15 mins later ;)

  • Was previously with Amaysim (more than 6 months ago) and has an online account but no active service. During the purchase process, do I choose new to Amaysim and use a new email address or log into the existing account; and will that void my cashback?

    • +5

Terms and conditions says it should be fine, "Cashback is eligible for new & existing amaysim customers on purchase of a new service (SIM)"

  • +1

When will this end? Looking at moving at the start of next month. Assuming esim activation cannot be delayed after purchase?

  • Bought it 4 hours ago and it's not tracked. Helped my partner to buy a Vodafone deal last week and it was tracked within half an hour..

    • Strange, should have tracked within 15 mins or so

      • Rip I guess it didn't track the transaction then

    • Same, bought at around 11am.. Still no tracking.

  • So if existing Amaysim customer do we need to port out for like few hours and then we can sign up again?

  • "Engaging with plugins such as … and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking."
Click the link, and it opens Amaysim in Brave on my phone.

ShopBack have the same offer but opens in a browser within their app. Much more reassuring it will be tracked!

    • I manually make Chrome my default browser temporarily in these situations so the link opens in Chrome

      • Yeah for sure. Just extra steps (before and after) for no real guarantee…

I prefer the ShopBack green light at the top of their in app browser.

  • +1

$115 is really tempting. Will Black Friday get any better?

  • Can confirm that ShopBack has the same offer.

    • It doesnot specified eligible for existing customer on SB, so not sure if you were previously customer for Amaysim, and login when purchase the simcard, it will still be tracked and qualified?

  • bought it yesterday, Can I cancel the order and buy it again?

  • I keep getting cart broken - anyone else get this?

    • I did too… Maybe it's a sign to go for the Vodafone one instead :S

  • +1

This is a great deal, effectively $115 for 12 months. But this will renew at $270 (RRP), so not worth carrying on for another year.
I'm waiting for a sub-$99 deal, like Catch Connect in Jan'2025.

  • +3

Quite a few people are reporting missing cashback lately :(

My Oodie and AliExpress purchases from last few days weren’t tracked either. I’ve already raised a ticket, but honestly, this $60 deal doesn’t seem worth the risk.

    • My tcb tracking has also been shocking lately. 3 in a row for the past 2 weeks and its a pita to wait like a week or whatever to file a claim, then it goes to some other place where you have to login again to check on it. Weirdly, shopback has done a flip and has had great tracking lately

  • +3

When does the cashback and discount from amaysim end?

  • After 2 hrs, still not tracked..

    • +1

purchased through shopback.Tracked in just under 2 hours

      • Using app or website?

        • App

  • +1

Tracked within 10 minutes using Edge on Windows with TopCashback. Porting from last year's Optus 280GB $220 ($100 cashback = $120) Black Friday deal.

  • still not tracked……

  • Has been 22 hours and still not tracked… Not happy because I was also trying to get the referral bonus

    • @tightarse

      • Mine's not tracked either, It's been well over 30 hours. Should I wait for 7 days before raising a claim ?

    • I bought three and ShopBack tracked within 2 hours.

Hopefully this gets sorted for you!

    • Same boat. Purchased $175 pack last night, and still waiting to be tracked. When I submitted the ticket, it asked the order number, but no such thing from amaysim, only a confirmation letter, so i had to put my mobile number that is being transferred. Ta, please investigate as many people having the same issue.

      • Did it track yet? Mine same still waiting

        • Unfortunately not

          • +1

@lzaonne: I've lodge missing claim too, 29th is the ticket. Hopefully sorted soon before the 20 days activation!

            • @Ozb003: do you have any update about the missing claim?
