Software updates expected to January 2028 apparently (but only to os to android 16?)

    • Note 13 released January 2024 and Pro September 2023 so I'd say they've had a good update schedule. Part of the reason why they're so affordable now.

      • +2

Wow what a price drop! I bought the 13 Pro+ 1.75 years ago for $720!

        • No headphone jack.
          No sdCard support.

          • +1

@shegeloaf: 512 is sufficient for most users at this category. And a cheap USD to headphone connector will solve your other problem.

Yeah this is really good specs at this price point.

    • yeah - thats probably the finishing OS (Android 16)

    • Users of phone without security-update & older version of Android: pls share real world experience?

      • I use android 12.
        S10 , 512 expanded memory card.
        Its brilliant.

  • Esim?

    • -1

Doest look like it, esim is not listed under network connectivity, just dual SIM or 1 SIM an 1 uSD. Counts me out

      • +4

A good reminder that physical eSIM adapters exist. Obviously some would prefer native eSIM support but it's an option many don't know about.

    • +3

they take esim. I have one.

      • Second this. I have seen a redmi note 13 pro with esim

        • I believe it varies by region, so not all note 13 pro have them.

          • @the1doood: In general, China does not sell eSIM phones internally, as I think the authorities need to be able to have an audit trail with physical SIM cards.

You can take eSIM phones with data-services to China anyway, but I haven't heard of anyone getting voice services with eSIM in China.

          • +1

@the1doood: Ah good to know. To clarify the one I saw was at jb hi-fi if that helps

      • From product page:

        *Note: Hybrid Dual SIM (nano-SIM + nano-SIM/micro-SD)

  • +4

Nope. These are really bad deals for 2-gen old phones

    • +4

They literally came out last year and are still being sold by Xiaomi. I've got one it's an awesome phone.

      • +3

        15 and 14 are both out. 13 was 2023. I would NOT pay $400 for a Note 13 Pro+ 5g regardless.

      • You sure you don't have the 14+ Pro?

        Released 2023, September 21

        • +1

The global version was released in 2024 in August and I purchased mine in Singapore from the Xiaomi store in November 2024 then it was released in Australia at JB Hi Fi December/January from what I remember.

      • I would say these are late 2013. Thats why android 16 will be the last update.

        • +1

Android 16 back then, that's not bad at all

          • @DannyBoy: Thats fine then (I agree!) - but not getting 1 update is going to suck ass now.

        • +1

Android 16 back then, that's not bad at all

  • +4

isnt the pixel 7 pro at 299 better?

    • +8

Not necessarily. Might be unpopular option but after owning the pixel 8 pro I seriously think pixels are terrible phones. They are slow, hot, and lack features. Camera was probably the only highlight, but a phone camera is a phone camera.

      • Must have a dud. My p8 pro has been fantastic.

        • I thought so too but no I think it’s normal. The tensor chips are not great.

          • +1

@immrnonamehello: I've heard the same issues from a pixel 8 owner I know, but everything I see online makes it out like a perfect phone in the price range.

          • @immrnonamehello: To be fair I don't game on phones so might be an area that exposes the issues? Beyond that it's been solid.

  • +1

    $399 is really tempting 😮

    • +3

If you like eSIMs, get a new, cheap Google Pixel 7 phone for under $250.

I am biased because the Xiaomis are worth it for the 3.5mm stereo jack and Infra-red blaster :-)

      • Sold out them pixels

        • Wait for the Black Friday sales, for other Pixel models (if not the Pixel 7)

  • Is it possible cloning data from first gen Redmi note to this one

    • +4

They have a built in app called 'mi mover' , which does a brilliant job.

  • +3

It's interesting that the non-Pro+ has a microSD card slot and a headphone jack but the Pro+ doesn't.

  • The Moto G86 Power 5G has a Dimensity 7300 which I assume is at least equal to a 7200 Ultra.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/932987

    • it's not as clear cut, the 7300 is more efficient, but in certain benchmarks 7200 ultra beats it in performance.

  • Keep in mind that Android 16 is the last OS Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ gets.

  • Outdated phones. Already two generations behind.

  • +3

    This or moto g86?

    • Moto

    • +1

Moto g86 has excellent reception and battery life

    • +1

Redmi-Note-13 vs Moto-G86: why would people chose Redmi? https://nanoreview.net/en/phone-compare/xiaomi-redmi-note-13…

Moto-G86: has features that should meet many-users…look past the brand?

How many users will be using their new phone as main-phone in its 4th year of ownership?

  • My 10 is still going strong. Prob won't need to upgrade for another five years lol

    • +2

My 11 stopped working because it is imported and Telstra banned it because of the 3G shutdown/emergency calls excuse.

      • +1

It’s apparently carrier-dependent. Mine is on amaysim. Bought it from Ali initially.

  • non stop having so many cheap phone deals out these few days, very hard to pick …

  • Looks like it doesn't come with a charger - so you'll need to shell out for a Xiaomi compatible charger to make the most of the fast charging.

The fast charging is awesome though.

    • Xiaomi compatible charger

Compatible? Currently using an old samsung charger

      • Probably should get a xiaomi compatible charger.

To make the most of the fast charging.

    • Battery-longevity: medium & high-end users: give consideration, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/17002622/redir

      • Yeah I blast the crap out of my battery with 90w and 120w for convenience with the general plan to replace my phone before it becomes a proper issue.

For better or worse, it hasn't gone to plan cause this phone remains very usable and I can't bring myself to replace it.

Still, battery seems great and if it DOES run down - it goes back up in like 7 mins.

  • Does it work with Google Pay/Wallet?

    • Yes, think of it as "android on steroids"

  • BulletFor Mi Valentine?

  • Why don't any of these have wireless charging capabilities.

  • Anyone else have issues with the promi code?

  • The coupon code isn't valid. Verify the code and try again. ??

Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G 12-256 model 24090RA29G (global) can be bought over the counter in Singapore for $458AUD $100SGD more for 12-512gb.

    • But but but it's not in OZ……

  • Excellent phone, can't fault it. I've been using Xiaomi phones for over 15 years and I've been very happy with all of them.

  • Moto g86 vs this vs Pixel 9 Pro??
    Which of the 3 plzz
