Great deal if you dont mind Optus. I am on this plan from the sale last year. So far so good. Works well enough for me.

Requires activation within 28 days of purchase.

    • Damn. So what happens if you keep it longer than 28 days? Do you just lose the bonus data or would you be ineligible for cashback?

      • i would say you dont get the cashback

        • Use to be you could stock pile these Optus prepaid starter packs with cashrewards and qualify for the cashback. Not sure I want to take that risk with Shopback.

    • I'm on the same boat. Are you planning to renew? I'm keen to, but it says "new services only". Checked the T&Cs for Optus Flex Plus (which the Optus app tells me is what I have with this prepaid SIM) and it says: Optus Flex Plus plans are available to new customers joining Optus for the first time. All plans (except for the $35 plan) are also available to existing Optus customers who change rate plans or set up an additional service.

Does it mean we're just not eligible?

Update: I tried to purchase the prepaid sim on the website and when I verify my number it says I need to start a chat with their team to activate the esim on this number. So if we can't do the whole process online without having to go through the chat, I think getting the cashback is going to be tricky.

        • Yes, that's what I thought. I think I'll swap to Amaysim with this deal to avoid the port out / port in process: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/932861
Same network. Less data, but I still have 190Gb left on my plan from last year and it expires in 8 days. Definitely not a big data user lol.

      • how about $2 sim other network for a day and get back optus again ?

        • Yes that could be a way, but I can't be bothered I think, and Amaysim ends up being $10 (well, $12 with the SIM) less with more than enough data for my usage.

Pretty good. Does it have to be activated within a certain time? I have almost 4 months left

edit Looks like it's a no for me, ah well.

T&C - Prepaid cashback is eligible on new activations only. Requires activation within 28 days of purchase. Service must maintain an active recharge state for 90 days post activation.

    • yap. No love for existing customer recharging. Optus offered me deal to recharge for another 365 days, stacking it with this would have been ideal.

I did this last time, I had to BEG for my cash back.

  • Anyone’s cash back tracked and paid out from the last Optus deal?

    • For cashrewards yes. Not sure about Shopback.

      • Same, cashrewards worked fine last time but alas they no longer exist.

  • Is optus prepaid the same as if you are on a plan?

or do they prioritise plan over prepaid for network coverage and stuff?

    • Network coverage should be the same, prepaid plans generally have capped speed limits.

  • do we know the end date of this shopback promo ?
I could not seem to find that info

If this came with subhub and the free amazon prime subscription it would be a great deal. But without it I think I prefer the Amaysim one. It's a little slower and less data, but cheaper

  • Comparable to Vodafail Westpac deal.
I'll wait for BF deals thanks.

  • will this really works? You won't get Cashback on:

Store promotions, discounts or special deals unless otherwise stated

    • Same question here

  • anyone's purchase actually tracked? Show tracked by today but still not.

    • Wouldn’t hold my breath. It’s like winning the lottery with Optus and cashback!!

    • same boat. let's respond here the outcome for eachother ;)

    • Same here — it says “no purchase found”, so I guess the tracking totally failed. I’m now seeing if I can get a refund.

Same here. Have submitted miss cashback claim with shopback. Might looking to return and refund too…

let us know how you go with the refund.

After spending 3hr with more than 5 different representives from Optus, of which none of them even have clue about where to find the prepaid SIM order, finally landed to the right department that actually see the order and cancel/refund.

To save you some time, you can reach them directly on 1300929949. Good luck, I've cancelled mine.

          • +1

@pgsheng: Do you need to send the prepay pack back? or can they just cancel it on their end? Mine is out for delivery as we speak.. For $125 this was great, for $275 not so much

            • +1

@garvani: I was told to reject the parcel.

              • @pgsheng: ahh right, im not home so its going to the post office, i just wont pick it up and they can send it back :). Will call them over next couple of days

          • @pgsheng: Thanks for the number, I cancelled mine too.
I might try again via the SB app, surely it'll track then.

            • @gunslinger: Its not a matter of it not tracking. Its not an eligible purchase for the shop back promotion.

          • @pgsheng: Thanks for the number. Saved me a heap of time.

  • i cant get the ID validation thing to work when trying to order. have tried all 3 methods - does anybody have this issue?

Optus customer service has no idea - as expected.

  • Has this deal tracked for anyone?

    • Mine hasn't tracked since 14th

      • yeah i just sent through an expired thing through to admins, this doesnt track.
        However got the following reply:

"The deal is still being advertised, so it is still valid. Tracking issues can be discussed in comments."

  • Can anyone confirm if this deal is working or not? Thinking to buy if the deal still valid

    • The deal of $350 prepaid for $275 is working
the $150 cash back is not, a read of the above comments would have confirmed that.

    • Me too. Looking for buying. Please update here if
      anybody got cash back tracked

  • As per the exclusion criteria, we won’t get the cash back. This deal is misleading

  • What does this mean?

"Service must maintain an active recharge state for 90 days post activation."

  • Anyone got this to track?

    • +1

Answer is no, no one has had tracking.

  • damn i want to blacklist the OP. as this deal is not tested. Now i have to call optus and get refund

  • News just in. There was an issue with shopback. They emailed to say lodge a manual shopback and they will sort it. Awesome! I hadn't got around to refunding

  • Yeah update on my situation, put the missing cashback request, originally confirmed for $5.50, support after two emails gave me the remainder for a full $150 cashback. Had my SIM sitting in the post office until it was confirmed. Now all good :)

    • Niiice! Looks like most people would have refunded the sim.

I havn't been able to log my claim yet, as it won't let me select the 15th nov transaction to claim against, it says to come back on 10th December….. Sent through an email just now to their support so hopefully someone can get this moving along.

    • They put the missing cash back as $5.5 for me and confirmed it was correct after I emailed them… I've just sent them more proof showing its $150. What did you do to get the $150? This is what they said after I purchased it 2 days after this post and it was still active.

"We’ve reviewed your incorrect cashback claim and verified that the amount is correct based on the expected Cashback rate at the time of your purchase"

      • Unfortunately it seems it's who you get then. But I gave the receipt and that was it. Granted next message.
