Black Friday Sale

First Month Free on all Buddy Telco NBN plans.

Obviously full price end of month but just leave if you want.

A ‘new customer’ is defined as an individual who has not had an active broadband service with Buddy Telco in the last six months or hasn’t been an authorised contact, residing at the same address as the primary contact, on an active broadband service with Buddy Telco in the last six months.

Buddy Telco is using the Aussie BB network to provide nbn.

IPv4 with CG-NAT and a static IPv6 /48 block.

CG-NAT works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, home server such as a Plex server and NAS or if you want to host online P2P games. If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

Static IP for IPv4 can be added for an extra $5/month and this turns off CG-NAT. You can do this from the Buddy Telco portal.

Buddy Telco are using a chatbot and live chat support.

Our Perth-based live chat team is available Monday to Friday, 11am-7pm (AEST). If you need help outside of these hours, our customer service chatbot offers a range of self-serve options.

Does Buddy Telco have a cancellation fee or notice period?

No - Buddy Telco does not charge any cancellation fees nor require any minimum notice period to close your service. While we would be sad to see you go, we understand that life happens and we want to make the process of closing your service as simple as the rest of the Buddy Telco experience. If you cancel your service mid-cycle, we will only charge you for the days you are connected. You can cancel your service in the Buddy Telco app.

  • Excellent, I’ll give this a go before I goto SL at the end of the month.

We need to stop supporting RSPs that have stupid 30 day notice periods to terminate your service. They claim it costs them money but it doesn't, it's simply to extract more money from you.

        I’m already connected to buddy.
Latency is better already from Arctel.

  • Thanks OP, perfect time as I just ditched Dodo after 7 days of the worst NBN I've ever had.

This will tide me over looking at all the other Black Friday offers :)

  • Can I schedule for a date a month or so from today?

    • +1

You can schedule a weekday up to 90 days in the future.

      • Weekend days are red but it still lets me select. Where does it say it has to be a weekday?

        • Weekend dates used to be blocked out.

I spoke to support and they said they can do nbn transfers on weekends. Note that tech support isn't open weekends. Most nbn transfers go through. There is a small chance you can be without internet until Monday if your nbn order gets stuck.

CG-Nat causes network issues for online gaming. Bummer that you have to pay $5/month to get off it.

    • +1

I'm hearing this a lot, high time I understand the impact of CG-Nat, cause myself and bunch of my mates always experience some sort of high ping or packets loss every 30 mins or so.

      • +2

Yep packet loss and high ping is part of it. It also causes my Xbox to have a 'moderate NAT' that makes for issues with hosting and joining private lobbies. Also chat conflicts and it all gets worse if you have multiple online consoles in the same household. CG-Nat is a disaster for online gaming. As soon as I opt out of CG-Nat my Xbox/s display an 'Open NAT' and all the problems go away.

That's not all it stuffs up!

      Common Issues with CGNAT
Port forwarding isn’t possible—users can’t open ports or host services accessible from outside their home network since they don’t have direct control over the public IP address.

Certain services, such as online gaming, peer-to-peer apps, some VPNs, and remote desktop services, may experience connectivity problems or degraded functionality.

If one customer’s activity leads to a ban or block (e.g., by a streaming service or website) due to abuse, others sharing the same public IP can also be affected.

      • Solution to your port forwarding issue can be sorted via tailscale very easily

  • Thanks OP, scheduled in future hopefully they honour it.

Aussie Broadband are selling this company to Tangerine.
    https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/aussie-broadband-sells-buddy-te…

    • My free month ends in a month. I’m sure it won’t effect the sale

Aussie Broadband expects to complete the sale, approximately valued at $8 million, by the second half of the 2026 financial year.

Other than probably subscriber numbers being up and down.

      • ABB don't even have the system to support Tangerine's 250k customer yet….they still building it lol….Notice ABB has also slowed down. So ABB is not the fastest in the market now but never the less still 1 month free yolo

        • Yeah my free month is slow, it's 730/80 with a static IP

While on Arctel, it was 940/95, though an out-of-Australia connection was so slow or wouldn't load.
SL has always been fast for me locally and overseas around 930/90

  • One of the better rsps out there. Tried back in July.

  • If I do 1000 plan, can I switch back to 500 after the free month at no cost etc?
