    • Why does it say that the deal expired yesterday?

    • nah, doesn't include calls to 18xx numbers, 13xx numbers and MMS

  • +5

Good deal, but 2 asterisks for me.

    • 4G only network, no 5G.

    • No Critical Information Summary available for that specific plan.

    Otherwise not bad.

    • +6

I've turned off 5G on my phone to try and slow down battery drain. For my basic internet use it's fine. I usually watch YT on 480p anyway.

      • +3

What I find interesting is that YT is so compressed nowadays that 480p sometimes doesn't even look that much different to 720p or 1080p

    • +1

I'd add no calls or text outside AUS. But still pretty good.

    • +1

4g only is a bonus. Better for battery.

  • Which one is better: Lyca or Kogan?

    • +4

Haha have you ever read the comments on a Lyca post?

      • I didnt have a problem with turning off auto payment (did use a normally empty debit card anyway) but the internet was pretty shit

    • maybe Vodafone. lol

  • +1

    Uses vodafone network

  • +3

Shame not much of a deal on the medium plan this time. Small plan has actually gone up.

    • On the site now, Small has +60Gb (making it 200Gb) for $149, not too far off previous deals.

      • Yep noticed that too so grabbed one for my tween. Guess it’s the best it’s gonna get moving forward.

      • +2

true though, but I only need 100 GB per year 😂

  • +3

have my renewal timed so it's always just after this promo, been waiting for this one, thanks!

can confirm from the voucher email:

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 31/12/2025.

I'm currently with Kogan and the reception is terrible. Going to another provider even if it costs more.

    • +9

Reception is better than Telstra where I live so I guess it depends on your location.

      • +1

Vodafone is actually really bad. I use to get call dropouts while I was driving.

    • +2

Boost are the only MVNO that uses the full Telstra network. They do 12 month prepaid too - https://boost.com.au/shop/boost-mobile-12-month-sims Can often be found with a discount. And probably some cashback. Obvs may not suit your use-case, but for all my family we just do these. You get some international calling and basically I think in practical terms the only real difference between Boost and Telstra is that Boost may be speed-capped/QoS'd. But there's only so fast my TikToks can load so that doesn't bother me.

  • Any big 5G plans available?
So I use this instead of NBN as I'm not home alot (FIFO)…

    • +2

      Hit up Felix.

      https://felixmobile.com.au/plan

Capped at 40Mbps, but thats still plenty fast for 1-2 users; its not 'fast' by today's standards, but none of your online activities will bottleneck (4k netflix fine, gaming fine, remote meetings fine, etc).

You'll want it in an actual phone, not a 4g router though, as while it works, they say 'not an nbn replacement'; so don't get flagged with a wrong device ;)

    Stacked with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/932759

    $170 + $11 gift card remaining!

    • Great… It looks fairly straight forward just need to add credit into your Kogan.com account then buy the plan. Nice one with using a coupon.

    • can you explain maths here please.

      • +1

        Kogan plan $189:

Buy 2x TCN Shop $100 gift cards from Coles at 15% off, brings the gift cards down to $170 ($30 saving).
Use the gift card online at Kogan to purchase the $189 plan and $11 remaining in the TCN Shop gift card.

        • thanks. legend

        • i am finding very difficult to include tcn card to kogan credit/gift card section. asking 10 digit number but tcn shop card has so many mumbers

  • +1

My existing plan doesn't expire until May but I doubt the data will stretch that far. What a dilemma to decide to cut it short..

    • +3

Kogan does do lots of these 'sales' every couple of months so there's probably one before your existing one expires

    • As above, plus you can usually fill in a month on a cheap 30 day-er if a 365 deal isn't current. There's pretty much always a way to deal hop with Kogan, I've never paid full price and have been on them for nearly a decade.

  • Be warned, if you have an old phone like the galaxy note 10+ I have, they will ban your phone from connecting and there's nothing you can do.

    Wasted my plan with them.

It's to do with the triple 0 incidents. Two days ago they just banned my phone even though it has the latest updates and volte switched on
