Showing $3364 for me with code SAVENOV. Dirt cheap imo.

Yeah that’s right just entered it wrong

Is just me that finds it very frustrating that every other Android device has specifications on CPU, memory, storage, etc…, while TV makers only give you Sh*te info!
You might pay $8K+ for a TV but the specifications are at least 10 years behind even the cheapest mobile phones!!!!

      Bravia 8 uses a pentatonic 1000 SoC
      https://www.mediatek.com/products/pentonic/1000

I own one and it's great. Very responsive, plays everything I throw at it via plex or jellyfin

      • Will it direct play AV1 in Plex?

        • The MediaTek Pentonic 1000 is a flagship Smart TV SoC with integrated MEMC, designed for 4K 120Hz HDR displays and up to 4K 144Hz VRR for gaming. High performance compute includes multicore CPU, dual‑core GPU, a dedicated AI processing unit (NPU), and video decoding engines. Hardware‑based video decoding ensures broadcast and streaming playback is reliable and power‑efficient, whether the content is encoded with popular HEVC, AV1, AVS3, and even the latest VVC (H.266).

    • In the past I used displayspecifications.com but it seems all the new ones just say "XR Processor".

I got the LG C5 77 from JB last month for $3003 delivered and the $450 GC making it $2553.

    1. Appliance central price match done online
    2. Went instore and got rep to add 20% perks code
    3. Called the store after delivery and said my GC haddn't been sent by email - I was told that the manager on the day of the transaction messed up and was supossed to have given me GC on the day.. please come right in and we'll issue you one right away

Don't do all the steps in store.. better to seperate the process. Always be covert about it. They'll eventually patch it out

    • +1

That's a really great price. Been happy with mine back from the $3400 perks deal

    • +2

Damn, that’s an absolutely crazy price for the 77. But with technology advancing so quickly, we should start seeing 65”> OLEDs drop below $3k within the next two to three years, hopefully even sooner.

      • $5800 for the LG OLED G5 83" + $800 JB voucher and LG Soundbar + Sub.

    • +4

Better option, because there's really no reason to buy this particular Sony model over the LG C5. The LG has a newer WOLED panel that's noticeably brighter, and you're trading blows in most of the picture processing, plus they support the same HDR formats.

It's just the built-in OS, which you can just as easily buy around for far cheaper than the price gap, and would be replacing later in the TVs life anyway. DTS is arguably a non-factor, particularly given Google and Samsung are pushing an open format going forward.

      • Buying a TV isn't purely about panel tech. Sony's motion processing has always been a cut above the rest.

My QD-OLED S90D doesn't give me the same cinematic experience or quality of picture as our older X95J FALD.

        • I did cover processing. LG is right up there, and it's 40% brighter on measurements.

I haven't really struck much of an issue on an S95B, I just can't have motion processing set to zero due to how long a static image is otherwise held for.

I also don't encounter much slow panning 24 FPS content.

    • I'm confused, what are you trying to explain here? Everyone was able to get the 20% Perks Discount including a Gift Card not long ago. JB weren't the only retailer doing it either.

      • +1

Stacking a price match with perks, hence the $3003 price. You can't add your perks to a PM item, you need a store manager to do it manually. I got rejected twice in 2 different stores when I did steps 1 and 2 in store(can still work but as I said much better to get the PM done online 1st)

Its a loophole - seperating the steps makes it significantly less obvious that you're exploiting the loophole. I didn't ask for my gift card in store because I had already asked for free delivery(appliance central price included delivery) and he said 'no its already a great price' so I calibrated and did step 3 after delivery

      • Whats the 20% perks discount and how can I get it?

  • +1

I got our 98" TCL c8k premium mini led for $4100, RRP $8k. Bargains to be had with electronics, if you know when. Ozbargainers love you guys.

    • How big is your room to need a 98-inch TV?

      • +1

It's only 2m wide. Would easily fit any 3m+ wall.

How far away you sit for it is subjective to each person. Beanbags or low couch 3m away is ideal for immersivity.

    • +1

Looking at pulling the trigger on this one at ~4k. When you did pick that one up? Was it stacked discounts?

      • HN surprisingly last week Saturday. They had 10% gift card value. The guy reduced the tv to $4.5k and with voucher value stacked, it was $4050, delivered, installed on the wall inc bracket. Awesome deal.

    • That is a wild price, how did you get the C8K down that low?

    • What made you choose a non-OLED?

      • Price & it's honestly an awesome tv.

      • My C7K I feel is a better overall picture (once calibrated) than my CS OLED.

It’s hard to have a direct comparison as they’re in different rooms with different lighting. But the Mini led in a lit room seems better than the OLED in a dark room. The extra brightness really makes HDR lights pop waaay more and (at least in a room with ambient light) the black levels are still great.

Also seems to get a better colour tone, not sure if that’s just OLEDs tendency to push blue and struggle with white, or the extra brightness in general.

I’d trade the 77 OLED for a 98 C7K in a flash. No doubt in my mind that the extra size and brightness would outweigh any minor drop in dark details.

    • That’s an awesome price. I got the 85” C8K for effectively $1664

      • How? That's a great price

        • +5

During the Good Guys sale early last month. Stack a TV and soundbar and get 20% off. 85” C8K was $3295, soundbar was $499 - came to $3094 ($2636 + $399.2 + $59 delivery). They also had a deal where with that tv you got a $700 visa gift card and they also had 12% cashback through topcashback. I returned the soundbar as I didn’t need it and got confirmed $331 cash back. So effectively I paid $2636 - $700 GC - $331 cashback + $59 delivery

          • @Doherz87: This is some epic stacking! Well done mate

          • @Doherz87: Did you get the full price of the soundbar back or the discounted price?

            • +1

@Mr Maths Debater: Just the discounted price which was $399.20

              • @Doherz87: So you are saying that you returned the soundbar in-store and they gave you a refund? $331 was a cashback, meaning what? I am after an 85' C8K as well. But can't see to get any offer on it close to what you paid!

      • Awesome price indeed.

I have got the LG 77 G4, about to return it and get this sony instead. Japanese technology is always superior than Koreans. The LG just sucks in every aspect

    • What don't you like about it? The G series are the top of the range series, even if it's a previous years model.

    • +2

      lol what a troll post

    • -2

      lol samsung bought out sony

    • +2

This Sony uses a WOLED Panel from LG (Korean) most comparable to the C4 (except performs a bit worse)…so it’ll be a solid downgrade from the G4 (which has MLA) at least in terms of panel quality.

OS will be different (better) but that’s about it.

    • +3

      You're replacing a G4 for a Bravia 8? Not sure if serious?

  • Have had issues with the operating system+ wifi+ dead pixels which is why it is being returned. And very dishonest coustomer service

    • If you are expecting Sony's customer service to be any better, you are in for a treat. This coming from someone who bought three Sony TV's in the last 10 years.

  • -6

I found a closed product Kogan 75" Mini-LED QLED 4K 144Hz Smart AI Google TV - MQ9T just cost $425 at Dick Smith. Compare it with Sony 77" BRAVIA 8 4K HDR OLED Google TV, it looks like better than Sony one. Not sure what the reason why buy this one. You can do a google search.

A few years ago I decided to buy a Bravia TV expecting quality but it had a major fault 2 months after the 2yr warranty. Even with Australian consumer law protecting me, I had the worst 'premium brand' customer service experience of my life.

In short, the premium you will pay for a Bravia TV is not worth it as they will treat you as a cheap brand customer, or worse.
