Ahhh, here it is. Excellent work!

    • +4

I've been F5'ing all morning, credit still goes to the previous OP @whyisave

      • +1

        Thanks.

That November promotion was supposed to have started today, but Econnex removed that link, and simply extended the end-date of an 'older' promotion, from September.

The $200 gift-card for switching electricity has been offered now and upped the gas offer to $125, so that's good still :-)

Never had one not come through, received 5 or more

      • They take a long time to come through, and don't always come within the stated time range, but they do always eventually turn up.

        • I’ve never had one not turn up between 90-120 days which is what they quote

          • @Brick50: Same here. They always turn up within quoted time frame although I didn't swtich as much as some others here.

            • @apple0604: They were about 130 for me last time, but seemed incapable of wrapping their heads around it. Insisted that it was 90 - 120 days which meant it would be 1 Nov to 15 Nov (never mind that 1-15 is not a 30 day range, nor that 120 days was at 3 Nov).

But they did come through, as they did the time before, so I've signed up again (unfortunately on a deal a few days ago not quite as good as this one).

  • If I sign up with RedEnergy, will I get qantas signup bonus? (No place to put in QF# on Exconnx)

    • I signed up through econnex and did not get any bonus (previous econnex deal). Also seemingly no way to add qf# after the face either

    • +6

Qantas signup bonus is on the Red Energy Qantas Red Saver plan.

Econnex only offer the Red Energy Red Living Energy Saver plan

    • Was at least 12 months ago. But have had shopback cashback, econnex gift card and agl credit stack in one deal..

    • Be careful Red tried to put me on a demand charge after not advertising anywhere before the welcome pack.

Then they said it was the distributors fault as they dont offer anything besides demand so "not their fault".

I called them about their bs because my previous retailer offered a flat rate.

Thank god for cooling off periods.

Having an expensive plan is one thing but be truthful about it. Trying to trick people to sign up to your plan by hiding hidden charges until after you signed up is just not on.

I would stay far away. Just posting this in case anyone else sees it.

  • If one person keeps signing up these deals with one address, would there be any issues?

    • +3

Nah I've been doing it for 3 years, maybe longer. I've never had an issue.

      • +8

        Username checks out

      • Thanks heaps!

So once we stay for 45 days, we just switch to another provider with another similar Econnex deal, and wait for the Prepaid Mastercards from this deal?

        • +3

Yeah I usually leave a few days extra just in case. 45 days from connection date, not signup date. So just watch that.

          • @churningNburning: Do you find it always offsets the connection and disconnection fees? How many churns per year?

            • +2

              @UnrealMacaw:

Do you find it always offsets the connection and disconnection fees? How

if you arent moving house there should be no connection/disconnection fees.

            • +1

@UnrealMacaw: I've never had to pay connection or disconnection fee's, they seem to save that for people moving house. Churns per year? 5 or 6 is my estimate. It was easier to do more when the connection period was 30 days.

            • @UnrealMacaw: You need to be actually doing connection and disconnection to get charged these fees. Simply selecting a "move-in" date on Econnex does not trigger a fee, despite what Econnex might tell you. It is a good way to use a promo for a future port if you current one is still not 45 days yet.

      • How often do you swap providers? I've heard it negatively impacts your credit score overtime if you swap too often.

        • You should check your credit score. I get the impression it has some but minimal impact if you're otherwise paying everything

        • Done a few and my credit score only goes up. Don’t think it matters anyways.

  • Any extra sign up bonus offers with provider , we can go this time currently with power shop

  • I was with Powershop before and now with another provider, if I resign with Powershop again, am I still eligible to get the gift card?

  • +1

FYI its $75 for internet, but title says $70

  • -1

Rates are worse than my current rates.

    • +3

Stay for sign up bonus from the retailer and 45 days for the gift cards then swap. Don't stay for the rates.

      • +1

Seems no signup bonuses showing up via econnex search engine.

        • +1

Did not see any sign up credits on econex either with Powershop

  • Took the bait
    Hopefully they will send

  • Has anyone successfully gone from Engie (under their name) to Engie (under their partners name) and claimed the $125 welcome bonus credit?

    • +2

      Yes, it's worked for us.

      • Awesome, thanks for confirming 👍

        • Will try that one myself

      • Did you have to select 'Yes' for the 'Are you moving' question or is it fine to select 'No'.

        • I want to know this too. Thanks for asking!

        • +1

"Moving" is simply a way to schedule a port. If you want a future port, then choose yes. If you want an immediate port then no.

    • Seems no signup bonuses showing up via econnex search engine.

      • +1

Different areas have different deals. For example I can see a $125 signup bonus for Engie and a $50 for Momentum Energy (both gas and electricity) It's hit and miss.

        • Anyone found a way to get the ev flex plan from engie through econnex?

          • @kulprit: I'll second that. Signed up for EV Flex for the feed in…but have basically no use for Chargefox bonus here. Be good to get the $$ instead.

    • Yeah oddly worked for me. Didnt think it would but it did. Be aware their solar feed in rates for some plans are abysmal, at least for Vic customers.

  • +1

Switch to power shop. Will you also get $200 credit from them ?

    • Yes

      • +1

Powershop site says must be first market contract.

        • +2

I think you will get whatever it says on the econnex page. If the $200 is listed there at the top of quote "card" you should get it (I got the credit and the gift card a couple times ago).

    • Same question. Allow double dip?

      • +2

Yup, I got 200+200 last round

    • Doing that now as well. However can’t see the credit pop up yet.

      • Seems no signup bonuses showing up via econnex search engine.

  • Can this be stacked with the topcashback deal? Or you can’t as you need to click through this link? Thanks

    • +2

No. Has to be this link.

      • Ok good to know. Thanks!

  • Is this 45 days from sign up with Econnex or 45 days after connection? Gas always takes forever to switch

  • Signed up to Momentum Energy because of the $50 Electricity + $50 Gas bonus credit but I've been a member with them at the same address before so curious to see if I'm still eligible for those.

    • +1

I was in the same situation. I got $50 sign up credit

    • +1

It worked for me from a deal a few months ago, I have received the $50 signup bonus from Momentum twice this year.

    • +1

Also signed up to momentum energy. Unfortunately superloop is cheaper before the cashback than after, and it has that stupid 1 month clause making is impossible to use this

  • Is it possible to get AGL sign on bonus as well?

    • +1

Do you see that bonus on the retailer selection in the list?

  • If I am with Ovo, can I switch to Ovo again?

    • +1

Someone above mentioned they did that under the name of their partner

    • Why not?

  • What can you use the gift card for? For example if I want to buy something from JB Hi-fi, can I use the gift card at checkout?

    • +2

      It's a prepaid visa card.
I just add to my Google wallet and pay from my phone NFC/paywave. I use mine for groceries

      • +1

        Prepaid Mastercard

        • +1

Correct, I guessed wrong as was too lazy to login to the app to check :)

  • +2

with the providers giving credit on your first bill, if they do 3-month billing cycle and you churn say in month 2 after allowing for at least 45 days for econnex counter, would you still get said credit in your first, final & only bill?

do y'all find churning for gas plans troublesome? Quarterly reads/billing can cause delays with the new connection becoming active and Econnex needs the connection to go live within 45 days.
Timing is hard (scenario example: if gas read 28th Nov//econnex offer starts now// new gas provider waits 10 business days before initiating the transfer = miss 28th Nov read — wait 3 extra months or chase new provider/jemena for out of cycle read.)

    • +2

Yes, I’m having the same issue with gas as well. May just churn electricity for now.

    • +2

I churn the gas if I think it's going to hit the 45 day connection requirement before the meter read.

    • +1

you can get any gas provider to do a special read and it will be done fairly quickly.

usually costs about $8. Mine was done within a few days

      • +1

I put in a request and was rejected early this month.

        • +1

          that's odd.

I had a meter read , received a bill, and then decided to change providers so I called up and had another one done within days.

    • +1

      @snorkey, @Killua27, @AmexReferralPlease, @bohn, @apple0604

Are we certain that the gas connection needs to be activated within 45 days of application?

All of the references to a 45 day period in the T&Cs is in regard to staying connected for 45 days after activation (i.e. after the next scheduled read). I can't find anywhere that is specifies any period between application and activation (i.e. before the next scheduled read).

In my example, my next scheduled read is in 2 months (about 61 days). My read of the T&Cs is this doesn't make me ineligible for the promotion, as long as I stay connected before churning again for 45 days after that next scheduled read (so about 3.5 months forward from now).

      Any clarity on this guys?

      • +1

you are right - the only thing I am saying about getting a special read done is so you can commence the 45 days period sooner - so you can change to another provider after that.

You do not need to be connected within 45 days - people who churn regularly will want to be connected ASAP though.

        • +1

          @muwu @bohn

i read it as the first and second bold part of the sentence being linked. I might be wrong. and only the cancellation bit is linked to the 45 days.
          .
When the request for a switch or connection cannot be completed, is unsuccessful, or a request is made for the cancellation of your Electricity Plan and/or Gas Plan within the first 45 days from the date of activation, you will not be eligible to receive any Card. There may be additional fees charged to the Customer by the chosen retailer in these events.

          • +1

            @snorkey:

within the first 45 days from the date of activation

You need to be activated first. Activation is not the same as applying.

Activation could occur 60 days after you apply for instance.

  • So if you switch electricity and gas together it’s $325 gift card in total ?

    • +1

It will be a $200 gift card + another $125 gift card. Usually sent together but depending on when the gas switches sometimes a little later.

  • signed up to engie on 6 September and $200 shopback comparethemarket tracked with a confirm date by 4 Jan 2026. Terms note that i have to be with engie for a minimum 75 days in order to be eligible for cashback.

Would it work if i sign up for this offer and future date it to 6 December (to be safe) and still get cashback for both? or safer to give this a pass and wait for shopback's cashback to clear

    • +2

As long as you serve the full 75 days you'll get the cashback but I'm unsure if you can do the future connection with these deals as this one expires in a few days. I think your best bet would be to wait for the next Econnex deal and just do it then. These deal usually pop up monthly, sometimes twice a month.

    • +1

      Stuck in this 75 days.
Signed up and the account start date is months apart.

  • Still havnt got my full amount credit.

  • +2

Damn. Signed up this morning when the offer was $100 for gas.

    • sign up again to the provider again with this link

      • Yeah, I had to do that. Rang up Econnex and they said I signed up with no promotion at all. Asked them to cancel and signed up again after that.

  • When I go through the link, besides momentum energy with the $50 sign up credit, no other ones I can see have any extra credit.

If it's just the $200 prepaid mastercard, it's less than the previous $120 cashback + $250 engie sign up bonus.

Or is it just my postcode that doesn't have other sign up bonuses?

    • I got the same thing. My post code is 2170

  • +1

Thanks OP! Been meaning to look for better rates but have been procrastinating for some time. This post gave me the impetus and I have applied for a new gas / elec plan.

  • Switch and stay connected for a minimum of 45 days
Moving electric happen quick like few days.
But gas account take months to move to new provide. When will the 45days start counting?
Say switch 15/11/2025 when can start churn again?
    TIA
