  • Has been $227 ($237 minus generic $10 eBay voucher) recently with an LED work light included.
Not that I've used the work light and would still be very happy at $239.

    • Should've posted it!

I've been checking prices nearly daily for a few months now and this is the best I've seen. I've been looking at bundles as well because 4WDSC usually makes bundles cheaper than single items for some reason.

Depending on what you're using it for, I think the 65ah battery in battery box is the better deal with almost double capacity. Not quite as portable but could run a fridge for two or three days

    • Agreed. If you're not carrying it around much and are happy to wire it up, a battery box is better value. You can also easily replace the battery when it ages.

  • Any idea how long a 36Ah would power the fridge? I've got an older version of Ryobi inverter
I'm yet to test if it powers an escape 30L and for how long (granted I've got only 4Ah batteries, but I only need power for a couple of hours…)

I bought an Escape 30L recently and I wanted a battery, when I saw the 36AH on sale during week, I grabbed it.

On Sunday, I got to use it - the Escape 30 in the boot, I powered it on at 7:30 am and set it to 4 degrees.
at 4 PM, I checked the battery and it was around 3/4 full.

This was with the fridge in the boot of the car, outside temperature around 33; not sure what it was in the car.

I've got the 24AH one, if you pre-cool it using 240V and put cold drinks in it, it would last even longer. Had my 30L Escape going for 3 days without an issue - granted not in 33c days yet :)

That Ryobi inverter inverts 18V DC to 240V AC. The Kings fridge is 12V DC.

If you want to run a 12V DC appliance off an 18V DC battery then what you need is a step down converter, not an inverter.

      • Thanks for the heads up.
But I'm planning to use the official Kings AC to 12V Fridge Adapter so that will do the step down, right?

        So 18VDC > 240 AC > 12V DC. Probably not super efficient…

      • Nice, I had no idea. This is the official Ryobi. $99 hence can probably find cheaper.

Pretty inefficient, yeah. 5-15% loss each time you invert.
