HODL! Their eBay store will be synced and you can save further with the eBay spend and save codes

    • +1

Well they'll be HODLing for at least 4 days .. lol

      • The EB Games sale only start from this Friday, and the eBay price will sync normally within the day

    • +2

yeah I still not wanting to give up my OG ps5 with disc drive included. and my added 2tb ssd :D its interesting how the OG disc edition model goes for around 650 to 750 on ebay still lol. Brand new in box however goes or 1000 bucks.

      • OG PS5 on really old firmware can be jailbroken (that's probably why brand new in a box is still expensive). Traded mine to EB for PS5 Pro. Mine was already on latest firmware at the time, the inside part of the plates was slightly scratched (a bit careless installing the SSD). OG PS5 comes with a vertical stand.

Not sure whether the PS5 slim with disc drive is the older 1TB SSD version of the newer, reduced 825GB SSD one. Pro is 2TB. You generally get the latest revision of the DualSense controller.

    • Would the eBay store also sell it at the EB World Plus price tho

      • No. Just the price that’s for non EB world plus

    • you can't earn carrots when you buy on ebay right? just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing anything here

  • +1

Excited for Amazon to match Astrobot

    • +7

Can't believe astrobot haven't had any meaningful discounts for a whole year. Last sale was probably this time last BF.

      • +3

Sony must be taken the Nintendo first party approach

    • +2

My son bought it at full price on my account and I'm not mad because it's so good

    • can you share when this deal happens??

      • $64 now but the target deal is more enticing if they produce stock. $49 with newsletter sign-up

  • +14

everyone will knock these console prices..

but $598 on PC gets you what? Maybe a GPU on its own if you're on a budget

sure you gotta pay to play online, but F2P games like Warzone, Fortnite, apex, Roblox etc etc all free.

    • +6

i mean techfast deals are close like the ITX - close the gap with game emulation, compatibility. better pricea on software or even sailing the seas

    • +5

Do we think the Steam Machine will come in at under $800?

      • +7

        Over 1k

        • +1

          Without a controller.

      • +3

$499 USD so about $765 AUD

        • +4

Generally its not just a currency conversion.

          • @BusMan247: I did say about, but yeah it could be $799. Current steam deck is $399 USD which is $611 AUD but it sells for $649 so not far off currency conversion

            • +1

@wayno13: I wish it was.. always australia tax :) sometimes its preposterous!!

          • +1

@BusMan247: Yep Steam Deck released much higher than MSRP converted and GST.

      • -4

I strongly think the Steam Machine/ SteamBox/ GabeCube IS the way to go.
Sony & Ninty - its about time they have some good competition.

Hopefully, it will be priced well, like under $400 USD

I feel this is the sort of product I've always wanted but didn't know. (I am a console gamer only 99% of the time)

A console experience, no tinkering with settings, free online, small form factor, those Steam sales and Valve's pro-consumer practices.
Also doubles down as an emulator box/ PC.

        • -3

Valve have worked hard on the steam frontend in steam-os but there is still settings tinkering for games as well as games that just won't work well (or at all). It is still a pc, and "console-like" is not the same as a console experience.

      • +5

That’s just not true and you know it. Even with a 3070, you’re not getting 4K output on PC. Let alone CPU bottlenecks in those workstations. No Gen4 SSD fast loading either unless you keep upgrading. Happy to be corrected.

        • -1

You're not getting 4K on the base PS5 either.

          • -1

@miicah: All PS5 games output in 4K on any PS5.

            • @Hybroid: There are select games that output native 4K, but most of the time you are getting upscaled 4K (from 1440p).

              • -3

@miicah: Correct. They still all output at 4K.

                • @Hybroid: So it's disingenuous to say that a 3070 can't output 4K. Because outputting 4K and rendering 4K are two completely different things. And with DLSS you can very easily get 30fps 4K on a 3070.

                  • -2

@miicah: No one mentioned rendering at all. You’re not getting 4K gaming output on a used 3070 akin to a PS5 with a $100 ex-business workstation. That was the context.

      • +11

If secondhand is acceptable then a PS5 is $300 on Marketplace. It's relative.

      • +4

Firstly that's not really the case, secondly, as someone with a PS5, and a PC with a 3900X and a 3070 (so a tad more powerful than a PS5), I play on the PS5 unless I literally cannot, because the experience on console is so much better. Yes it may not be the highest framerates or resolution, but it just works, updates in the background, and is ready to play when I want to. No tweaking of settings required, no driver updates required, the games just work.

        • but certain game genres are better on PC

          • +1

@sticky8anana: Oh sure, and if you like them, then PC will be your choice, but you wouldn't be cross-shopping PC and consoles in the first place as the games you prefer have made up your mind for you. As someone that prefers to game on a TV, with a controller, that is how I play on PC as well, so those genres that are better suited to Mouse and Keyboard etc are not my focus.

    • 598 on a pc gives you a shitty pc can't even do 1440p gaming lol My PC currently can do 100+ fps on almost all games at 4k maxed out settings. some games even 200 to 300fps no way would that kind of performance cost you under a grand lol. 5070 ti alone would be above a grand.

    • I ain't knocking the prices, I'm knocking how long it'll be before the console is replaced by the next gen. PC is forever

      • Kinda? Generally, you get cross gen for 3 years into the next gen. So at this point, you will still get another 4 years.

And also, if you're a bargainer, that's the best time to jump into a console, you get $5 physical games everywhere.

    • -3

The price is great, but with just a console you cannot:
      - Work on office documents
      - Browse net fluidly with multiple tabs
      - Play ultrawide res games
      - Play ALL games online for free
      - Edit photos
      - Edit videos
      etc etc etc

I personally have both. Each has a use case.
If all you want to do is play games, sure.

      • "Play ALL games online for free"

Can't on a PC either as a few games need a subscription.

        • It's ok, not trying to argue. But all games I play are free. I've never played subscription games.

    • a PC is not a single use machine like a console, idk why people dont have the sense to think of that. Stop being so salty

  • +4

The jailbreak scene is taking off, might be the time to buy

    • +2

Probably find the Firmware on new PS5's to be too high for now

  • +1

Anyone have idea of the software version of the slim? TIA

    • +2

      jailbreak much :P

all the retail units would be over the latest JB version as 10. is pretty old

  • +2

DS2 is the deal of the email I reckon.
    Half price at $57

  • +7

With the news of GTA6 being delayed im in no rush to get a ps5 pro now

    • +10

at this rate, we'll see the ps6 being released before gta6.

  • +2

Wait for an eBay spend and save code.

It's been as low as $979 without the member BS: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/910165

  • +5

I don't find the EB plus membership worth it. Will wait for the non-member discount.

  • +1

Is $598 a good deal for the slim disc version?
(Sorry, been out of touch of gaming for many years)

    • +1

Goes as low as $500 on Black Friday, but sells out quickly at that price, otherwise $550

      • Thanks mate.

      • That was once, 2 years ago, it sold out in 15 minutes and it's because they were clearing stock for the slim. It's not a common thing

  • +4

Reminder. 2 years ago, fat disk with Spiderman 2 disk, for 504 delivered.

  • I am hoping other retailers price match it especially everday market with 18% cashback on top

  • -3

No love for Xbox EB? Xbox Game Pass is the only thing that makes it worthwhile getting a console.

    • +1

EB is doing $749 for Series X for Black Friday. EB probably could potentially sell PS5 slim digital edition at a price of current Series S console price ($499).

XBox Series S & X are in show Micro$oft the money state. GamePass Ultimate is now AU$35.95/month. GamePass Premium is AU$17.95/month. Micro$soft told its gaming division to deliver 30% profit like the other divisions.

      • +1

The current price of GP ultimate is IMO exorbitant for what is actually delivered, it’s just too much. It would be different if we could pick and choose from various titles but having no option means many of the games are indie or just not interesting (again of course my opinion). At least from my perspective it’s too costly.

      • EB has been doing $749 every now and then throughout the year so can't really call it a deal. I agree that Xbox game pass prices have become exorbitant and I would really want to not use a gaming console ever again due to this never ending greed of these evil corporations. But I am not at a stage where I can build my own PC and use it. So just going with whatever is best in the time being. Isn't PS Plus prices also similarly expensive?

        • +1

After the most recent price increases, GamePass Ultimate is now $12 more expensive than PS Plus Deluxe. Granted, PS Plus Deluxe doesn't have first day first party exclusives. Problem is, Sony does offer 12 month discount and the difference becomes $17 per month.

The main issue is Microsoft told the court the Microsoft Activision merger will not lead to GamePass subscription price increases. Microsoft selling titles on Sony PS5 shows that they are desperate enough to tap into the pool of customers traditionally willing to buy games.

        • +1

Microsoft has essentially thrown in the towel at least on the current generation of console war. Initially, Microsoft was hoping Bethesda and Activision could turn things around quickly for XBox Series S|X. That didn't happen. However, Microsoft already knew concentrating on console gaming is not a long term solution.

The shift to service / gaming publisher is unfortunately necessary for Microsoft. The tough part now is balance this shift with the expectations of its loyal console fans avoiding alienation during the expansion into PC, mobile, and even competing platforms like PlayStation and Switch. Microsoft is now PlayStation's top publisher.

As someone who supports both camps, I am surprised that Microsoft took such an approach (essentially give XBox supporters all the bad news in one hit). Sadly, it doesn't matter which platform Xbox fans decide to switch to, Microsoft now pretty much have them covered (maybe not quite on Nintendo Switch yet). If you can't defeat your competitor, buy the number 1 publisher on that platform quickly let you tap into that market.

Xbox is dead, Microsofts interested in software sales not hardware

If they bundled a disc drive with the Pro, it would DEFINITELY be a must-buy for me.

  • +1

Get an extra $50 off using code APAYBF when you checkout with AfterPay via the EB Games eBay store.

The Gamesmen will no doubt come to the party as well.

  • JB updated their PS5 Slim (both digital and disc) listings to 825GB storage. Old bundled deals with game appear to still being listed as 1TB. It's probably not a big issue, but would like to know whether EB is actually selling the 1TB version or the 825GB version.

  • 988 is decent but then there is the stand and disk drive… Prices are crazy nowadays.

  • Jb on black friday might beat this price?

    • Interestingly, JB did not do a sale on the PS5 this year.

  • +1

    That's expensive for a ps5 pro! I don't think I'll get it over my ps5 anytime soon!

  • if any trade in available in EB or JB?

  • Anyone know what the best way of securing a disc console? Rang lock store and they advised having a decent amount of stock and to click and collect, but would from experience anyone know if delivery may be a better option given that failing that stores sell out quickly, they will ship from a warehouse? Looking for insider knowledge possibly hahaah

  • I’m an Xbox guy myself but these days I don’t have much time for it but plan on getting into it again, have a very large collection of games yet to even use.

My son is 9 yrs old 10yrs old in 3 months and he has always been a switch fan, was a big fan of Mario and sort of us but I think he might be growing out of it or he just does not use as much these days.
He has been asking for a laptop but i personally think he is to young and I really just don’t see him using it much.
We thought about the switch 2 but i believe it’s basically the same games with a bit of improvement but maybe I’m wrong.
But seems a waste to get that when his switch currently works fine and he does have a lot of games for it.

His older sister got a switch but I don’t think she actually uses it much if at all.

I thought a ps5 and disc drive as me being a Xbox guy I like to buy actual games and not digital.
So how old is the ps5 disc version and does this come in fat and slim? I dont really want to buy old tech but then these machines are always getting something bigger and better.
What memory does the ps5 disc have and is slim a newer model but still is disc, as you can tell not been into PlayStation

  • Anyone know if they are going to have a new trade deal? They are selling their disc console for $598 but if you trade a ps4 pro and two games it is $649 at level 4 lol you basically pay them to collect your ps4 pro

  • I got a model CFI 2102a from eb games with 1TB - i believe this is the newer revision of the ps5 and i thought they only came with 825gb.

Does anyone if its still a slim model?
