Dang shoulda HODL'ed a bit longer

  • +1

Wow what's causing this decline in prices for monitors ? Used to be 300+

    • +17

OLED getting better and cheaper i think puts downward pressure on IPS pricing

    • +1

Lots of overstock of panels from COVID as well as this likely being clearance pricing to make way for new models.

    • these monitors came out in like 2020, 5 years worth of mass production will inevetibly have an effect in lowering the price of them :)

i bought 4 of the Dell equivalents (S2721DGF) 4 years ago at $479 each and they were good value then

      • Ya I remember the price and the I had to settle for one 32 inch lol

  • +1

Wow that’s amazing, my LG costed me ~$500 three years ago

    • if you knew you would of chuck that in gold

Nvidia's Earnings Report Will Be Out on Wednesday, Nov. 19

          watch the damage

      *cost

  • Thanks OP bought one

  • +2

If anyone here gets the LG panel revision L0I, not interested in BOE panel revison B0 (label on the box) please let us know, so I can buy another one. Awesome monitor (I bought it for around $270) and for this price its even better.

    • What's the difference, is the newer panel from a better manufacturer?

  • Good monitor for gaming and work imo. Scooped it for 280 in a previous deal last year

  • I have a PG279Q from like 10 years ago that cost nearly $1k back then, is this one very similar to that after all these years?

The only difference I can tell is mine has G-Sync.

  • +1

People who have this already, how is the screen in a bright room? Is it still good to see?

    • +3

I have mine right next to a window and at max brightness, even with the sun shining on it, it's still pretty visible IMO.

I pretty much have it on ~75% brightness all the time though. It's not the brightest monitor out there but it isn't poor by any means.

      • +1

        Thanks mate.

    • +2

According to the reviews it should be fine, 400 nits brightness. Not amazingly bright but pretty standard for budget monitors:

  • Nice pickup OP.. purchased ..

  • Thanks. Bought one..

  • Nice - thanks OP. Bought 2 in separate transactions. Almost didnt renew my eBay plus the other day too…..one thing like this can make it worth it

  • +2

Purchased 2x for work home office, replacing 2x LG 26WQ500-B 26" monitors. Increased resolution from FHD to QHD for (hopefully) better productivity/usability.

    • Did you have to purchase separately to get the discount on both ?

      • +1

I had to purchase both seperately. I tried both at once, but noticed discount only applying for one. When looking at the BLK30 code T&C's, you can use the voucher in 5 seperate transactions.

        • +2

Thanks. I've got two FHD LG 27"s either side of my 27" Omen for MS Flight Sim so this has me thinking about an upgrade :)

  • Can this monitor be VESA mounted??
Want to put it on to a dual monitor arm.

    I can't tell

  • Fantastic, grabbed one

  • Great deal, tempted but I don't even need it..

    • In the same boat. Using UWQHD so buying this would relegate it to a 2ndary monitor which just seems like a waste.

    • This is usually the case all the time right?

We don't reeeeally need it… Can live without it…..

      • Haha sure is, I just love a good bargain then bragging about it.. But definitely leaving out how many spares I have..

  • +1

I have this one and the 32in one of this model, couldn't be happier with my purchase, great price.

  • +3

I have two of the 32q version of this monitor (exact same specs, just 32"). Terrific bit of kit. At this price for the 27" its a no brainer… great buying.

If you want the bigger 32", probably wait till later in the month for the 'proper' Black Friday sales. I picked up the 32's on last year's Black Friday sales on Ebay HP for half price, so about $300.

    • What is the exact model of the 32"?

    • yes please, would like to know the model# as well

      • +3

        https://www.hp.com/au-en/shop/omen-by-hp-31-5-inch-qhd-165hz…

        $299 + 10% off with code BLACKFRIDAY
        2560 x 1440 not 4k

Still, for that price hard say no, bought 1. Now saying on back order 7-14 days.

        • +1

Yep, the one linked by sobie.

And as predicted now on sale for Black Friday! (it wasn't this price when I posted above)

Now under $300, plus another 10% off…. go get it!!

          • @UFO: Thank you @sobie2000 and @UFO, appreciate the inputs.

I bought the 27" from JB Hifi @$199, so do you reckon it is worth getting 32" for extra bucks? Or shall I consider setting up 2 x 27? :D
I need it for home office us BTW. I believe I should be able to return this to JB HIFI once you guys confirm. Cheers

    • Thanks mate, almost pulled the trigger for 3 of the 27". Lucky I held out and just placed an order for triple 32" as per your comment for sim racing upgrade without breaking the bank. Might be pushing it a bit with the RTX 3080.

  • Ooo I got the Lenovo legion equivalent few weeks back for about the same price. Which is better?

  • +3

Im glad I missed out on this last week for $199

  • Pivot Stand

Can someone confirm if this can rotate to a vertical position?
    Thanks

  • +2

Went to JB and look at there boxes, both were B0. Not sure whether to take the risk with these ones.

    • +2

There is an earlier comment regarding serial number, tied to different panel manufacturer/quality - that's the difference??

      • +2

For this money. It's no big deal.

    • +1

Bought earlier this year from eBay and it was B0

      • +1

        What is B0?

        • +3

Serial Number Prefix that indicates the panel is made by BOE.
The BOE Panel has a BGR pixel layout.
Previous versions of this monitor came with a panel made by LG with the preferred RGB pixel layout.

    • BOE has improved drastically compared to previous years

      https://www.macrumors.com/2025/07/08/boe-becomes-biggest-mac…

  • +1

Really good monitor, have since upgraded to OLED but the difference is a bit overhyped unless you really care about refresh rate for gaming / deeper blacks.

  • -1

    Got screwed by JB again.

    • same

    • Screwed? Just because the price changed with an eBay code for people with a subscription?

  • +1

Can anyone recommend a similar size/resolution spec monitor, albeit one with usb-c with power delivery and a hub built in?

I want to be able to use the monitor as a quasi dock to quickly connect a laptop - with keyboard/mouse attached to the monitor - and leveraging just the single usb-c cable.

    HP Series 5 Pro 27 inch QHD USB-C Monitor - 527pu is ~$600

I'd love to get sub 300.

I think possibly facebook marketplace is the way to go (albeit no warranty)

  • +1

How does this compare to the MSI MAG 275QF? Is the MSI monitor worth the extra $60+?

  • Just bought two of these bad boys, can anyone recommend me a dual monitor arm for this?

    • Did you buy it from HP ebay as well? and did you the get the LG panel version?

  • I can’t join eBay Plus due to a problem with my account.

Does anyone know of a way to get this for the same price elsewhere?

    • +1

Why not just make a new ebay account?

      • Fair point. Have had my eBay account for decades so don’t really want to abandon it.

  • Noice, been needing to replace my Samsung Secondary monitor, after 4-5 years i believe capacitors are failing as takes ages for anything to display

  • Cheers OP, bought 2.

  • Anyone know how many times the code can be used?

  • How is the build-in speaker quality

    • +9

As far as monitors without speakers go, probably quite average.

      • +3

I stared at your comment for 10 seconds before realising this monitor doesn't have speakers

  • For a screen for a Macbook, would this be OK, or pay more for a 4K monitor? Basically just for home use, emails/spreadsheets, and some gaming (BG3 and some adventure games etc).

    • The Omen 27Q is a QHD monitor, so it would be perfect for your needs. A 4K UHD screen is a bit nicer for productivity, but the downside is that it's significantly harder to drive at high framerates for gaming since you need a much more powerful CPU and GPU.

    • You always want the highest possible DPI for macOS, preferably 4K at 24", 5K at 27" and 6ak at 32". macOS looks noticeably worse on low-res displays, especially in more recent releases.

  • I thought edge lit isn’t good - esp for long term life

    Has this changed?

    • At this price point you're not going to get a proper HDR monitor with FALD, so you're stuck with edge lit.

  • +1

got one thanks OP. Don't tell my mrs I've spent $2k on my pc upgrades this week ok??

  • +2

Thanks, sending back my 2 x $199 monitor order and ordered 2 at $174.30 as posted here.

  • Thanks. Bought two to go with my existing one.

  • Thanks OP. Time to upgrade my WFH setup.

  • Thanks bought 2. Lets see how it goes.

    • +1

I will recommend to go individual arms as it gives you full control to change hight individually.

      • Thanks for your reply. The individual arm will be same as this monitor with stand. With stand both monitor can go up and down and sideways as well. What is the benefit of going with individual arms?

        • Free desk space

Two arms definitely offers more flexibility but a single arm provides a cleaner look. So it depends whether you prefer practicality over aesthetics

  • +2

Just got mine delivered (VIC) - it's BOE panel (rev B0).

    • is that good or bad im getting mine soon! coming today. what panels can you "randomly" get, sorry im not a monitor expert

      • +1

Not bad, just according to our fellow OZBs, it's not as good s previously used LG panel:

        AI Overview
The HP Omen 27q is sometimes equipped with either an LG or a BOE panel, leading to user concerns about panel lottery. Users report that the LG panel is generally preferred for better color vibrancy, while the BOE panel can have a more aggressive matte coating, reducing brightness and vibrancy. Performance differences are often subtle, but the specific panel can affect perceived picture quality.
        Key differences

        • Panel manufacturers: The Omen 27q may come with either an LG or a BOE panel.
        • Coating: The BOE panel often features a more aggressive matte coating, which can reduce brightness and vibrancy compared to the LG panel.
        • Perceived quality: Many users and reviewers consider the LG panel to be the slightly "better" option, citing more vibrant colors.
        • Other issues: Some users report issues like a yellowish tint or poor color calibration on BOE panels, though this can also be due to panel lottery variations within the same manufacturer.
