Pay a visit to damnitjeff on YouTube to jailbreak your kindle

What's the chances of this having a firmware version that you can jailbreak?

    • I have a bunch of epubs from libby books that I use with my old kobo, thinking of upgrading for a better screen. Do I need to jailbreak it to get all the epubs onto the Kindle?

      • nah they made it sm easier, I get all my books off libgen.
used to have to use calibre to get convert/transfer them, now you can just email them directly to ur account.

  • Signature Edition worth the extra $30?

      Hell no.

No. The auto brightness adjustment is wonky and I switch it off. Wireless charging is pointless on a device that needs to be charged once a month. Extra memory has no use.

    Hodl for prime day!

  • Side quest:
Baby ereader for your pocket, or slap it to the back of you phone with the inbuilt magnets. New ereader company and very active on reddit. 10% off when you sub to their site. Reddit users seems to enjoy it.

    • Why would people choose to attach it to their phone? It's just adding a bunch of bulk and 180g of non functional weight to your tiny e reader, and a bunch of bulk and extra weight to your phone.

Leave them separate, and use one at a time, I reckon. Does look like a cool device, but I wouldn't pay 100 bucks for it.

      • Guess it depends on how much ‘on the go’ reading you do. Ever since my yotaphone 2 died, this is probably the next best alternative.

Reading on my phone is clearer and easier. Don't need another device on my work commute.

    • Would be cool if they incorporated a built-in Qi(2) charger, even at the expense of being thicker and heavier with a slightly larger battery + components.

I see this device akin to a hardware version of OS/app features that block distracting notifications and/or lock down access to other select apps. Allows you to focus on notification-free reading content.

I don’t think the added bulk is as big of a deal as others might. I often prefer how I can hold my phone with a magsafe battery attached - the added thickness and the step-down from the edges of the phone to the edges of the battery allows comfortable grip.

In saying that, I wouldn’t buy it at this price.

  • Kindle or Kobo?

  • probably better off waiting for amazon, they always have big deals on their devices + good cashback for their stuff too

  • +2

This is cheaper than previous Amazon deals

  • +1

    Amazon is cheaper after cashback
