Apparently I already have details with Westpac but have never had an account. They've asked me to go to a branch

    • how do you check?

      • I tried to open n account. And that was the message I got

        • Is it to do with verification? You may be able to verify at a branch and then sign up via SB app for the cashback. Worth a try.

          • @trixieb:

You may be able to verify at a branch and then sign up via SB app for the cashback.

@gotyourback, can you please confirm if signing up via SB and then completing ID verification in branch, counts for the cashback? When I tried the other day it also told me to go into a branch to complete the ID verification. Although I did not already have any details with Westpac (unlike @crackman).

        • @amorn @crackman Update from GYB here.

Stacks with $50 Westpac cashback offer so please shop for that offer too.

        • got same message. how did you go?

          • @amorn: Tried again same message. Too hard to get to a branch so I will forgo this deal. Have you had any success?

  • @gotyourback Can you please confirm if the $40 ShopBack offer stacks with this separate $50 Westpac offer? It opens to the $50 offer page. Thanks.

    • Hey there! 👋 Good question — the $40 ShopBack offer and the $50 Westpac offer are separate promotions, but they don’t officially stack since they’re both tied to the same account-opening action.

If you apply through the ShopBack app, you’ll only be eligible for the $40 Cashback from ShopBack, which comes via our tracked link. If you go through the Westpac site directly (the one showing the $50 offer), that would count under Westpac’s own promotion, not tracked by ShopBack.

      So basically:
➡️ ShopBack app link = $40 Cashback from ShopBack
➡️ Westpac direct link = $50 bonus from Westpac

Only one offer can apply per account opening 😊

      • Thanks for the quick response.

      • Ah so that's why i got zero tracked

        • Do you mean it tracked at $0 or no tracking? If it tracked at $0, it seems you have signed up via the SB link for the $40 offer. That link opens the $50 offer which is a bit confusing. Hence I thought they would stack. The offers have different T&Cs.

          • @trixieb: It tracked but got 0 returns. Damn hope i got the 50

            • @Mokr: Best to contact GYB as it tracked but should be $40. I don't know if you would get $50 either as it tracked on SB. $50 has different terms and you need to shop to get the $50. Do both just in case.

            • +1

@Mokr: @gotyourback Someone else mentioned $0 tracking too. Will it change to $40?

              • +3

@trixieb: @trixieb just a quick update — turns out the $40 and $50 Westpac offers actually do stack! Sorry for the earlier mix-up 😅

We’ve seen a few reports of it tracking at $0 too, and the team’s checking on that now to make sure it updates correctly 👍 will keep you all posted once it’s sorted!

the best deals are always in the comments

      • Westpac T&C have nothing to say about the way you open account for $50 promotion, which means SB opening action should be eligible for $50 as well

    • Search "Westpac" in the SB app. I already have a Westpac Choice account linked to SB and would be surprised if it's targeted.

  • +1

I got 2 "Westpac Debit" items tracked (both with same ID, 1 minute apart), but both are Purchase amount = $0.00 and Cashback tracked = $0.00.

    • +1

@gotyourback Seems to be tracking at $0. Can you please look into it? Thanks.

      @devilbabies Update from GYB here.

Stacks with $50 Westpac cashback offer so please shop for that offer too.

  • No returns for a 'Westpac' search in the SB app :(

    • +2

@jspaceman It no longer shows under a direct Westpac search. However it now shows in the banner in search section of SB app.

Worth getting for $90 cashback that stacks with $50 Westpac cashback offer so please shop for that offer too.

The offer doesn't appear to be targeted. I already have this Westpac account but have been bombarded with a few notifications today and yesterday in the SB app. I joined without any cashback incentive.

  • I already have a Westpac Choice account in my name, and its debit card is linked to my Shopback account. Would I still be eligible for the cashback if I use the Shopback link to open a Westpac Choice account for my wife? She’s never had a Westpac Choice account before.

    • It cannot be done in your ShopBack account under your name.

Your wife would be considered separate to you. Your wife would be eligible in her own ShopBack account and she would apply through the link in her ShopBack app. Stack with $50 Westpac cashback offer so please shop for that offer too. Total = $90 cashback.

      • Do the Shopback account name and the Westpac account name need to match? I couldn’t see anything about that in the eligibility criteria. It also doesn’t say that you can’t already have a Westpac Choice debit card linked to your Shopback account.

        • Will ask the rep @gotyourback

        • Any update? @gotyourback

          • @xanxustyle: Good question! I’m just double-checking this with the team to confirm whether your ShopBack and Westpac account names need to match, and if existing linked Westpac cards are still eligible. I’ll update here as soon as I hear back 👍

            • +2

@gotyourback: Just confirmed with the team — your ShopBack and Westpac account names don’t need to match, Westpac doesn’t validate based on that. This offer’s only for new Westpac debit users, though. If you already have a Westpac debit card linked to your ShopBack account, you won’t be eligible for the bonus. You can still have a Westpac credit card linked — that doesn’t affect it 👍

              • @gotyourback: Great, thanks!

              • @gotyourback: I already had another family member's westpac debit card linked (that's already been expired for ~6 months, so therefore not even working). Any chance I can still get the shopback bonus?
I can't see anything about "already having a Westpac debit card linked to your ShopBack account" mentioned in Shopback's "Things you should know" section.

Being a "new Westpac debit user" doesn't seem to be mentioned in the original Ts&Cs either, only "not have held a Westpac Choice account in the last two years". It is possible to have a Westpac debit card (via a different Westpac transaction account) without having a Choice account.

Is anyone getting a web page has moved or doesn't exist when using the link and trying to sign up using a customer id?

    • The offer is available on the ShopBack app only as per title and post description. OzBargain doesn't seem to link when the offer is in the ShopBack app.

I've checked again and it works via the ShopBack app. Please read the post description as a guide to find the offer. It also stacks with another Westpac offer as per post description.

    • +1

Yep I have this same issue.

      • Use the ShopBack app to find the deal as per the post description. It doesn't link from OzB.

        • This is via the Shopback app. When I activate the offer to sign up, it opens the Westpac mobile site withing the built in Shopback app browser.

When I select 'yes' to being an existing Westpac customer, it gives the same error msg @chadayy described above.

It does this in both the Shopback browser and my regular mobile web browser, so it's a fault with Westpac.

I'm following it up with them now.

  • Got the same error on WBC side:
web page has moved or doesn't exist

    • +1

I contacted Westpac about it but didn't get very far. Once I could actually connect with a person, they weren't helpful at all.

In the end I sent in a 'complaint' on their website, see if that leads to anything…

      • @gotyourback Seems to be an issue with the Westpac website as per several comments. Can you please check with your team? Thanks.

  • For those who had issues with the mobile site for existing customers, it now seems to be fixed.
