ASUS ROG Strix XG32UCWMG 32" 4K 240Hz OLED Gaming Monitor $1499 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

181

$500 off for this Glossy 4K WOLED montior. Has dual mode 1080p 480hz mode. Seems to be one of the best monitors on the market. This discount brings it to a similar price as same size QD-OLED monitors. I was able to negotiate an additional $15 off the sale price in store, plus used JB perks $10 sign up voucher, but YMMV.

      • yours are 27" the 32" Alienware one is $2000 before the discount code https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/alienware-32-4k-qd-oled-gami…

Why would you pay 77% more for less pixel density and colour volume? Madness.

          • -1

@jasswolf: you are not comparing apple to apple. Madness

            • -4

@RichardF89: I am comparing two slightly different kinds of apple, with the second kind also injected with water to make it look bigger.

Whether you want 32" or not, this is a terrible deal, because it's worth $1299 at most.

@jasswolf: I don't understand how you are comparing a 32" curved semi-glossy 4K QD-OLED which is locked to 240hz, to a 32" flat panel full gloss 4K WOLED that also has a 480hz alt mode, which currently is $500 cheaper than the Alienware, which is not on sale.

The monitor I have listed is currently cheaper than it's 165/330hz counterpart, and cheaper than any other 32" 4K WOLED currently on the market.

                • @Value Fixation: I don't understand how you think I'm doing that either, because I'm not.

                  It's a flat 27" 4K 240Hz glossy QD-OLED monitor for $844.

          • @jasswolf: Because ASUS 😎

            • @Nillionaire: That would depend on the model, mostly the cooling solution, in which case sure, spend net $50 more.

But yes, ROG tax often sucks despite there sometimes being good extra features.

  • Been waiting for a discount on this for a while! Just bought one now thanks op.

    • how does it compare to Alienware? Is this one any better?
(assuming that Alienware one used to have similar discount)

For anyone wondering this is generally considered to be the best OLED 32" monitor available right now.

    • How does it compare to that $1400 LG 32" with the long name?

  • Is this a good monitor to pair with Evatech's 7800X3D x 5080 deal? Hoping to get a 4k monitor for gaming but also use it for 4 days wfh - am I delusional?

No idea where to start so any recs would be great

Congratulations, I just saved you around $1400 with a mere 15% performance drop when GPU bound. You can upgrade the storage space down the line if you want. Evatech deal is awful, this monitor deal is mediocre.

If you want to wait for a Techfast 5080 deal, it'll be around $300 cheaper than that with a 9800X3D, but you really aren't gaining much as much performance as you might normally associate with xx70ti —> xx80 (70 SM vs 84).

      • SFF is important to me with limited standing desk space and Techfast doesn't offer any of that unfourtunately :/

        Appreciate the reply though

        • Try emailing them or DM'ing Luke to see if they'll do a deal, can't imagine it'd cost more than the gap between the 5080 system prices. It's also mATX vs ATX, not a genuine SFF choice.

@jasswolf: Yeah I did, no mATX unfourtunately. Only what's available on their website

  • OLED monitors maxing out at 250 nits seems pretty uncomfortable? My LCD hits 400 and I don't think I'd enjoy using anything below that. Is that a problem for many?

      The SDR brightness is decent.
      The HDR brightness is decent.

Looks like brightness is the worst 'feature' of what otherwise looks like a great screen. Might be a problem in bright rooms.

    • I have the LG 32GS95UE, similar panel but matte, and use it around 60% brightness for desktop usage, which is about 140-150 nits and comfortable for this purpose. Plenty bright enough for desktop usage IMO, but YMMV. Some games look a bit dull in SDR mode but enabling HDR sorts that.

      • Yeah that seems way to dim to me. I'm using a 400nit screen at full brightness atm.

I might have to hold out til the technology improves

    Any 27” OLED 4K 240hz deals?

  • How does this compare to the Gigabyte Aorus which is also at the same price point at $1499?

      https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/asus-rog-strix-…

Pros for the Gigabyte: Better colour accuracy and coverage, brighter SDR content, better at diffusing reflections, has DP 2.1 (80GBPS), plus you get a $50 USD Steam voucher through your Scorptec link.
Cons for the Gigabyte: 240Hz max, QD-OLED tends to diffuse ambient light and raise black levels on the screen to look purplish tinge, lower HDR brightness.

Pros for Asus: proximity sensor that turns off the monitor when not in front of it to help mitigate burn-in, higher HDR brightness, mirror-like glossy screen, 480Hz mode, deeper blacks in ambient lighting situations, black frame insertion,
Cons: Lower SDR brightness, can have problems with direct reflections opposite the screen, higher flicker due to larger VRR range, can be "less vibrant" then QD-OLED, but can come down to user preference.

  • This or the MPG321URX?
