Bands are playing in a separate space, I believe. The concert ticket includes a ground pass naturally.

    • +3

It says AO Live events are separately ticketed in the Ts + Cs.

  • +3

This is qualifiers not the first week of tournament play (e.g. Day 1, Day 2).

    • Almost booked Tuesday 13th for $10 but won't go to these "qualifiers."

  • +1

Sorry my bad yeah it’s qualifying week. I’ll be going purely for the $10 concerts.

    • Are you sure you can get into the music? Last I checked, I nearly thought the same, and then found it was a separate 99 buck ticket.

If you can't in the end (idk) the Presets are doing some beer festival thing in the next month or two (I don't remember specifics, have to Google) and it was around 15 or so entry to that whole thing. I'll be there with all of my people ;)

      • +3

I’m not sure I’m on hold now with tennis Aus. The whole thing has been poorly advertised. It’s quite confusing.
The Presets gig doesn’t say dj set so I’m hoping it’ll be the real deal. I saw their dj set and I didn’t enjoy it as much as their live shows.

        • Pretty crap lineup apart from the Presets anyways

Try this link, the concerts are a different ticketed event. - https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/ausopen?_gl=1*1hjvhwv*_gcl_a…

        • +2

Yeah the whole thing has been poorly worded. I’ll in post it now

    • +1

AO Live is not included in the $10 ticket. Click "View Inclusions" on the page you linked to.

  • +1

Qualifying only. Tournament starts a week later. Can still be interesting but I wouldn't pay much more, personally.

  • Doesn't seem like there are any happy hour deals this year.

  • +1

Good deal for true tennisheads, but casual fans should be aware that qualifiers will mostly feature fringe players. Don't expect to see the stars

  • +5

Qualifiers used to be free until 2023. :( I went multiple years pre-2023 and, unless it's changed, the entertainment/food areas won't be open yet. You go for the tennis and the tennis only.

The AO Live stuff is totally unrelated to qualifying as it starts the week after. See https://ausopen.com/schedule#!pre-tournament

    • +1

Right! Totally free, I'd just walk-in to see play after work. Tickets for qualifying is just meh.

    • CORRECTION: Looks like they're opening up more "experiences" in the week before the tournament proper and calling it "opening week" (which is going to confuse the hell out of people as it's traditionally used to describe the first week of the tournament proper). They're also doing some AO Live stuff that week, which is not included in the $10 ticket. In short, looks like AO is trying to get more attendance ($$$).

      • In short, looks like AO is trying to get more attendance ($$$).

It's not just the money either, they want to make the news headlines for 'record breaking attendance', even if technically the vast majority are just attending due to the cheaper gound passes.

Last year I went with my brand new camera with 70-300 lens - I checked the Rod Laver Arena website which said it was allowed. Unfortunately, AO is a special event with its own rules with 200 being the maximum. So I had to put my camera in a locker - I complained to AO online and explained what happened (pretty much a sulky whinge that I didn't get to take any photos with my camera…) and didn't expect them to do anything, but they surprisingly offered me a free ground pass - I think this was partly because I would inflate their attendance numbers (and obviously just good customer service to shut me up haha).

  • Does this include access to kids areas? Is there any kids entertainment on at this time?

  • +1

The concerts at AOLive are not included - the ticket costs $69 extra for "HotChip" !!! So don't buy these and think you get a $10 concert.

It's $10 for the tennis - when reading the description I feel like I get the concert too ("That also lets you see any of the following acts.") … so a negative vote as a bit of a warning.

Yeah the whole thing is a shambles the way they’ve worded it. From what I can gather the first 3 days have free concerts and the rest are ticketed events.

      This is from the blurb
From Tuesday 13 to Friday 16 January 2026, fan-favourite precinct TOPCOURT, located at Birrarung Marr’s middle terrace, will transform into a buzzing open-air stage for four nights of world-class electronic music including Hot Chip, Elderbrook, Cassian and The Presets.

But then later it says it’s in John Cain arena and when u click on tix for the event it sends u to the tennis with tickets for $109. It’s all over the shop. I guess that’s why I can’t get through to them on the phone

      • They sell tickets to HotChip (which includes a Ground Pass) for $69 - the $10 ground pass says in the inclusions that AOLive is ticketed separately. The AOLive stage seems to be first the Topcourt stage and then seems to swap to the John Cain Arena for the concerts. I agree - a bit confusing.

    • +2

$69 to see Hot Chip is a bargain these days tbh

  • From what I can gather the to fri of opening week will get u the concerts at top court. I’ll delete the rest of the concerts. Btw it’s not qualifying, $10 gets u a ground pass for the opening week of the actual Aus Open

    • +1

If you click "View Inclusions" on the page you mentioned it clearly says AO Live is not included and requires a separate ticket.

The tournament proper starts 18-Jan. So all they're really "advertising" is that qualifying has been expanded from previous years, for the same price. "View Inclusions" spells it all out.

      • +2

I cannot wait for the 2027 "qualifying" where we get to view the live ball-person auditions for the low price of $14.99. Bargain.

  • +4

I just spoke with Tennis Aus. Every other year they’ve had entertainment for free within the ground pass on the stage. This year they haven’t worded it to tell you that they’ve changed it and now they’re gonna have separate music with a separate ticket event and then you also get a $10 ground pass thrown in as part of the $69 ticket if they just come out and word it properly then there would be none of this confusion instead of just wasted time trying to get to the bottom of it. It’s very misleading because the article that I read mentions $10 ground passes within the ad for the music.

    • +4

The whole "Ground passes from $10" is becoming a bait nightmare.
Qualifying week was free before Covid. Now its a small revenue scheme for the organizers and shareholders are reaping the profitable rewards.

I can see the backlash from fans.
I can see their solution- to have free sessions but all you are viewing is the ball-person "practices."
Prices keep rising and rising and the quality of tennis is getting worse and worse.

Man the AO Live lineup is pretty great - something for absolutely everyone. Hot Chip are amazing, and the double bill of Sofi Tukker + Veronicas would be awesome fun.

    • +1

Here I am looking for AO bargains but find out Sofi Tukker are here. Headlining in Feb. Thank you!
