The fact that this retails for $999 absolutely boggles the mind.
RRP was lower originally. Apple increased it!
Still way better value compared to many premium/'audiophile' wireless earphones/IEMs which cost just as much but will probably break in 2 years of sporadic use.
Premium maybe, audiophile no. For Airpods Pro money there are a lot more better IEMs at lower prices. Not wireless though of course.

In terms of design Sony XM4/5/6 and AirPod Max have the most clout amongst mainstream consumers, the others are seen as catering to audioheads.
I still don't understand who these are for when you can get the significantly better APP3 for less.

The only benefit of the AirPods Max that I can see is the continuous battery life but the APP3 beats it for total battery life. So unless you need to use headphones for more than 9 hours straight or you simply don’t like in-ear headphones, the APP3 is still the better buy.
different people have different heads and find headphones more comfortable than earbuds, they're not equivalent products.
also i genuinely lost an APP2 on a plane recently and it was a pain in the butt so i'm going to use my max's when flying from now on.
I havent heard how Airpods Pro 3 sound like but the consensus is Airpods Pro 2 sound better and if that is the case, Airpods Max are way better when it comes to EQ. I have both Airpods Pro 2 and Airpods Max lightening (not the latest USB C) and Airpods Max sound way better.
Good if you have multiple Apple devices for auto switching between them. Mine have not been getting much use since I picked up a Questyle QCC Dongle Pro.
Interesting, haven't seen this before. Which cans are you using with these now? And are you using the Questyle across multiple Apple devices?
Only had it a couple of days. Have used Bose QC Ultra, Shokz and a Fiio BTR7 with HD600s so far. You can pair multiple multiple cans. So far have used it with a Pixel 9 Pro XL (Apt-x lossless goodness), MacBook Pro, Fedora X1 Carbon and Surface Pro 11.
Worth noting you pair the cans on the phone app once, then they work with whatever the dongle is plugged into. The dongle looks like a DAC to the device and even works with Roon.
@mostlygordon: Looks like I've got some more to learn and research - I've seen the Fiio but never looked into them. Quite an interesting and neat setup you've got going on there. Thanks for sharing!
