It's the definitive way for new and old fans to experience these beloved titles, particularly the universally acclaimed Suikoden II.

    Massive temptation.
Just got to learn to resist…
I will see how long that lasts lol

  • +3

    Suikoden such a great classic

  • +5

    Oh thy back..log…

    • +4

at least its physical, so you'll be able to get through your backlog even when the eshop shuts down….though we know that backlog is gonna outgrow any completion rate.

      • +1

        I know lol
It’s cheap - unlikely to be any lower

        Question is ps5 or switch?
        Is the platinum fun?

        • +1

I don't do disc based any more, so I can't really comment on the ps5 copy.
But I played this on switch and then sold the game a while back, only just re-buying it now.

Solid game either way man. You'll enjoy it.

          • +1

@Knowledge: Grabbed both. Will pick em tomorrow.

I understand the ps5 version is 60fps whilst the switch is 30fps….not sure if it matters in a jrpg. Although the ps1 versions were 60fps, hmm…

            • @YoursTruly: Damn, so switch is inferior to PS1, never thought I'd see that

              • +1

                @halil23: Wow….

I tried this on the switch first - and I couldn’t feel it or connect with it. The writing is superb but the theme of war isn’t my cup of tea….

Now I remember why I didn’t buy them back in the day, it’s the same thing (couldn’t feel it - and the collection of 108 characters/ castle building/ war theme isn’t to my taste)

Unfortunately returned them both. I’m sure someone else would find more enjoyment out of them.

                • @YoursTruly: You opened and played the Switch one and returned it? 🙄

                  • @FrugalNotStingy: Yup. Ridiculous right? Also the ps5 version

No way id play it and couldn’t force myself to like it - unfortunately. Reflecting the same feeling I had when it originally came out in the late 90’s.

                    • @YoursTruly: You treating the store like a library. You're just creating more landfill as no one is going to buy this after you unless its like 50% off

                      • @Fuzor: Whatever spins your disk mate.

It was an open copy to begin with.

                        Anything else?

    • +2

      Yep..

  • Used my perks $10 off code for signing up to bring it down to $19.
Gotta get it delivered because I live in the middle of nowhere, but only $2.29 shipping.

  • Ouch that price drop hurts. Great deal

  • +1

That's a really good price,i wish steam had it for that. Perfect price for this imo

  • +1

Great games. Still have my ps1 copies.

    • +2

      Collectors piece now!

  • +2

    Best story in a game!

They’re making an anime of it (Suikoden 2)

  • Hope the fast forward doesn't speed up the clock and you can get Clive's ending in 2

    • There's a toggle in the options to pause the timer for Clive's quest, but I think it's off by default.

      • Nope, its not. I ended up missing it when i first played

        • Sorry, I meant off as in the timer keeps going.

      Thank you!!

  • +6

Suikoden 2 is one of the greatest games ever made. Forever in my top 10 list.

  • +1

Good price! Is it in English only?

    • +1

You can change the language in the setting

  • +2

Thanks OP! Was considering to get the switch 2 edition, but with this price cant find reason to pay $75 for switch 2 version

  • +1

The second game still has one of the best boss fights I've ever experienced in gaming.

    • Is it tough? Didn't get the chance to play these games.

      • +1

If you're not prepared it will catch you off guard and kick your arse. But the presentation and the fact that it would be very hard to emulate in other games makes it stand out.

  • Got one somehow 2hrs late

  • Thanks Op, bought a copy.

  • +2

Suikoden 2 is the GOAT. Made even better if you've played the first game.

  • Killer deal. Just wish this was the switch 2 version that can go 4k/60fps

  • What a game x 2

Mine is still in it's shrink wrap, but only paid $20 more for the privilege of it sitting in my draw for a month

  • Suikoden 2 is my all time favourite JRPG and while Suikoden 1 is not as good as 2, it's still an excellent game as well. Getting both for $19 with Perks coupon is a steal. Thanks OP.

    • Same and same. I’m ridiculously excited over this.

  • Where does this one sit relative to all time jrpg greats like chrono trigger?

    • +2

Suikoden is almost top 10 in every list of ps1 RPGs and pretty common top 20 in lists of all time RPGs.

Both are landmark JRPGs, but with different focuses:

Chrono Trigger is known for its tight, time-travel-spanning story, accessible active-time battle system with "Techs", and a smaller, highly-developed core cast. It's often praised for its perfect pacing.

Suikoden (specifically I & II) centers on political war and revolution, with a massive, memorable cast of 108 recruitable "Stars of Destiny" that contribute to a growing home base. It features different battle styles, including duels and large-scale army warfare.

In short: Chrono Trigger is the master of focused narrative and innovative combat, while Suikoden excels at epic scope, world-building, and character collection.

      • Thanks for this mate

Chrono trigger hit me very hard in the feels back in the early 00’s.

Such an enjoyable experience. the battle system + its cast + music are a chefs kiss’

Looking forward to try suikoden in the near future.

  • Always wanted to play this when it came out on the original Playstation in the '90s.
Grabbed this deal and looking forward to finally playing through nearly 30 years later.

  • +2

Bought this last night for my Switch 2 but then cancelled the order this morning after doing some reading.

The Switch 1 edition runs at 30fps 720p in handheld and by accounts the upscaling on Switch 2 doesn't look very good.

Konami also haven't released an upgrade pack for this so the only way to get the Switch 2 upgrades is to pay for the entire game again which is a slimy practice I don't want to support.

    • +1

I've come to this same conclusion! I did not order it though, see a good deal to just add to my backlog when I want to play it, with me getting a Switch 2 next week this version does not make sense for me either! I do have a JB perks though bring it $19, so I'm a little conflicted now

      • Curious, how does one get this perks code more than 1 time per mobile phone number?

Is there a trick to get this multiple times?

  • Incredible games

  • Got this on PS5 alongside 2 for $30 today
The Precint Limited Steelbook edition and
    Dragon Age Veilguard lol

For $59, I think it was.. Fine?

  • console gamers are eating good lately. I've had this on the steam wishlist for a while and I don't think it's ever been close to this price

  • +1

I thought this would never go low before going out of print. Never say never.

    • +1

Best to grab one before people start asking drug money for them lol.

  • +1

Bought my copy on release for full price and it's still shrink wrapped. I should really stop buying games… I just didn't want it to go out of print or price jacked up like some other titles. Looks like I'm always on the losing side.

    • +2

Dw I did the same lol.

TBH never saw this price coming.

    • Same boat as you guys… it's gotten to a point where I don't really know which games I own now, especially when setting saved eBay listings.

      • +1

This is a real problem. I no longer know what I have, therefore I've bought dupes for a few games, lol!

      • +1

Same. Everytime a deal is on here for a non new release game, I had to go through my emails or pile to check if I have it already.
I went through one of my piles just then and I was surprised with what I got that I thought it was still on my to-buy list. Not to mention I got the same game on different platforms.

  • +2

i never really understood the hype for Suikoden 1 + 2. During its release it probably has the worst graphics next to granstream saga ( bible drawing faces) and wild arms.
Maybe because there was so much Jprgs out at the time and suikoden just got lost in the wave and wave of final fantasy 7/8/9 /tactics/Xenogears/legend of dragoon/Vagrant story.

Years later your saw 3/4/ and 5 being release on ps2 but they never really had the same hype/prices people were asking for them on ebay.

    • +2

I mean it's a pixel-art game with background 3D effects, but no one hyped it for the graphics. If anything, being as highly rated due to its story while still releasing next to the Final Fantasys and Xenogears even after all this time says more about the game than ever.

  • +1

Delivered today! Suikoden II is GOAT for me. Regretted returning my cousin’s PS copy to him years ago haha. Then not buying a secondhand copy I found for $70 shortly after. The price is insane now. But no more! Can’t wait to play it again.
