    any chance bigger inverter?

    50kw battery with 5kw inverter will take 10 hours to charge

      I can't see specifics but if it was a hybrid/DC inverter, then it won't be limited to 5kW charge.

      If it is AC Coupled then yes, you will be limited to 5kW charging.

        hybrid inverter won't be limited only on the DC side (e.g. charging from DC coupled solar panels), but still restricted in terms of charging/discharging from/to the grid, and also supplying house loads.

            @fractalsonfire: Sure, but charging can take place from the grid, not just the panels. So any grid charging would be limited to 5kW, even on a hybrid inverter. Especially when taking advantage of the current and upcoming "free x hours of electricity during the day" plans, you only get half the charging rate during those free hours on a 5kW inverter compared to 10kW.

      Hey, the Alpha system comes with its own inverter, and because we’ll be using an AC-coupled setup, you won’t need to replace your current Fronius inverter.

    I am with CitiPower and have an existing 8kW Fronius solar inverter, single phase.

    Does the additional battery inverter count towards the 10kW inverter limit?

      No — the Alpha ESS battery inverter doesn’t count toward CitiPower’s 10 kW export limit. Because this is an AC-coupled installation, the Alpha ESS inverter works only on the load side and doesn’t export to the grid. Your existing 8 kW Fronius remains the only exporting inverter, so you’re fully compliant.

        What about the 10kW inverter limit (not export limit) imposed by CitiPower?

        'Single phase: 10 kW inverter limit. 5kW export limit. Anything over these capacities may be allowed but will require a generator agreement to be signed by the customer. Battery inverters count towards inverter limit.'

      A 50 kWh battery with a 5 kW Alpha ESS inverter can provide whole-house backup (essential circuits) as long as the home’s peak load stays under 5 kW, and it is fully compatible with Amber.
