Great little thing. Just used one this morning. Thanks for sharing 🙏

  • +10

Great way to port out/in between Boost mobile

    • Thinking of doing same, will there be any issue given both use Telstra network?

      • +6

        no, its all good
just recently did it for another year of Boost

        • +1

          Thanks, that's very helpful.

    • what do you mean by port out/in?
is this so you can buy a pre-paid sim, what are a lot cheaper than recharging?

      • There are likely cheaper to signup for a new prepaid plan than renew existing one.

I think this is a poor deal. Telstra were offering a 28-day, $39 sim for $13 up to a couple of weeks ago.

    • +4
      • At Coles I saw 2 packaging of the $39 starter kit from Telstra, the older packaging does NOT have the '28 day plan' printed on it. the newer does, i know for sure the older package allow you to activate on a 6-month low usage plan, not too sure if the newer package, with the '28 days' printed on it, would allow you do do the same?

    • +12

      This is $1.

      • +15

And I can't read. Negs warranted, upvoting to a deal.

        • Good positive "backflip" is there issuch a thing lol.

        • +4

I can see a responsible guy here.

  • +3

I'm only interested in receiving SMS. Any recent experiences please on how long Telstra take to deactivate the number once recharge ends? Thanks.

    • +3

Was about to ask the same as I always like to have a random number for things like Kayo, or TOTP on misc accounts etc. Most range from 90, 120 to 180days.
Quick Google search for Telstra Esims notes "deactivated 6 months after the expiry date of the last recharge".

      • I'm curious what is the advantage of doing this instead of using your normal number? It's still linked to your id.

        • +2

Example Only: Kayo New Customer = New Email & Mobile number. In turn can partake in any new subscription offers and so on. Once signed up, mobile no doesn't matter as TOPT can be via email.
OR if signing up somewhere new that requires a Mobile No, can use it instead of using "Primary".

    • +1

      6 months

    • I think Amaysim’s PAYG and top up for $10/yr is better value as it lasts 365 days and less likely to expire unexpectedly, plus remaining credit accumulates at top-up. However, I suggest turning off mobile data if you have a smart phone or even minimal background activity can slowly erode the balance, or else just put it into a dumb phone. My 2¢ worth.

  • +2

Wow, they let me complete the purchase!

    • +1

      still in jail :'(

Applied to port a number in, got an error. Tried to port the same number but with a different email - got the error: Something went wrong We’re unable to process the request at this time.

      • +3

I ordered a physical SIM. Did manual address entry straight up, just to be safe and it went through. Probably still will get the “Something went wrong” when I try to activate it though

        • I'm getting the "something went wrong" page just after clicking on the physical sim option.

  • +6

Got an error message saying couldn't complete payment and needed to go into a store or something and bring ID

    • +1

They want to know you in real person ;)

    • +1

Same! I wonder why. It says it's an online deal only so I wonder if they'd even honour it in store. Did you also try to order a physical sim?

    • Same - I can't make this work or activate it online. Oh well

    • +1

Does anyone know what triggers this message? I never got this error message on boost before.
I tried using VPN, different phone number/payment method/email/postage address etc

      • +1

I got a message like that and changed to a different card and bought two.

        • Yeah I tried using my boost data internet & still no luck with it
"Sorry, we are unable process your order online. For assistance, please visit a Telstra store"

I have a feeling the business address I'm using with 100 characters is causing the flag as I have no other way to pickup the order that requires signature on delivery

    • +1

Mainly wanted to do this to get the Galaxy Watch8 deal (not with Telstra). When they told me to come into the store to verify ID just gave up. Not sure why they can't just have ID verification online

  • +2

How many orders before they block you

    • +4

got 30 in last time, now im blocked

      • +4

Ill order 2 a day then

        • +1

Went into the telstra store as the error message said to do, they said my account was marked for fraud, which is probably fair considering my 30 pixel 7 purchase’s and the 30 sims

          • +1

@Quarter Pounder: Wow! What did you do with 30 of them Pixel7?

            • +1

              @markwid: resell them

              • +1

@Quarter Pounder: i was almost tempted to do the same but only bought one for myself after reading about the battery issue on the telstra sale thread.
Some buyers might claim faulty battery etc… I couldn't be bothered to deal with that.

      • Can I ask, what do you do with 30?

        • He has a buisness

          • +1

@easternculture: a business reselling or a bunch of different people that work for him that need one?

  • +2

How long they service will be cut off these days? 3 months or 6 months?

    • +6

      6mths after the expiry.

  • +5

Anyone knows how long the SIM remains viable for activation? 1 year?

  • I opted for eSim and Telstra activated the SIM now. Great ;-( really.

    • 6 months

    • Is there anyway to prevent this?

      • +1

If your churning your number, they cant activate it AFAIK

        • so do these work if you are already with Telstra?

    • I chose esim first but looking at the page, I was afraid that would happen so I opted for SIM instead.

  • Great for burner

  • +1

If we had a cancelled number (by messaging Telstra customer care) around 3 months ago, is it possible to get same number once again by any chance?

    • Nope. But ive heard people able to retrieve them when going through TIO

    • If your number gets disconnected, your telco must put it in quarantine for 6 months. This period is 12 months if your number was disconnected due to nuisance calls or unwelcome and life-threatening calls.

This means the number is generally not available to be issued during the quarantine period.

When the quarantine period is finished, your telco must give the number back to the 'donor' telco. This is the telco that was first allocated the number by the ACMA. It can then be issued to another customer. ~AMCA

I'm not completely certain if it's different for opt-in cancelled numbers, but that link should have all the details you need, general practice is to quarantine numbers for 6 months between owners.

Managed to order 4. 5th one errored out and asked me to come to a store with ID.

  • +2

Is it good to obtain a Telstra ID to be eligible for the Pixel deal?

    • Likely need to go into the store for ID verification

  • Does anyone know alternatives to Rebtel for international calls? My credit expired.

  • +1

    Activate by 02 March 2026

    • +1

Its usually 2 years from production date

  • Got esim setup in minutes. Thx

  • +1

I keep getting error ‘cant complete your order, please visit a store’. Does anybody else have similar issue

    • Yes

  • +3

    $1 for $10 JB-Hifi perks, $9 profit 😄

  • +1

    Thanks OP, got one

  • +1

Thanks OP - lunch sorted today.

  • Is a port from boost to Telstra possible?

  • I'm just wondering if JB Hifi plans are using Telstra full network or Telstra wholesale network.

    • +1

      Full network

      • Then I will take this chance to see if Telstra network is working well in my area. The other two works like… meh

        Thanks mate

  • it keeps asking me to go to Telstra shop for ID verification again. hopeless. i give up.

    • same - also given up. Telstra has proven hopeless to me on multiple occasions.

    • Same. Got problems activating the last $1 batch online. I had to go to a Telstra shop, for every single activation.

    • +1

the thing is i was only ID'd at the telstra shop last Thursday. pathetic Telstra is obviously worried that i will commit a fraud on this grand purchase of $1.

  • Can I just go to store and grab a physical SIM for $1? I just can't wait for it to be delivered…

    • Online only apparently. But if your phone can take an eSIM, you might be able to activate the service, and then grab a free blank SIM from a Telstra store to do a SIM swap?

  • +3

Now all I need is a 3g Samsung phone

  • The last time I got boost, it was disappointing beyond my worst imagination, and then I read it somewhere that Telstra is not more like before. Am I mistaken?
On Optus right now and not happy with their coverage either.

  • For the 6-month casual plan, does the call, text and 390MB of data reset each month or is that the total amount for the whole 6 months?

    • That's total for 6 months.

  • How long does the number last after credit expires?
