As an owner of the S330, they are known in the community to have massive QA issues. They aren't well waterproofed (especially via the rear weephole) so if you are going to have them outside (as you would think with a solar camera) they will eventually have ingress and fail.

There's also been numerous issues with the solar panel coating peeling off, but newer models seem to have mostly rectified this.

I am currently in a claim with Eufy and they're awaiting stock until mid-December as they are replacing so many. Just a word of caution. I say this after being a happy happy customer with my prior EufyCam 2 Pro's for a number of years. My camera failed after 5 months.

    • Is that something that can be fixed with a silicone cover? There are some from aliexpress for $10.49AUD

Mine failed even with the cover. I had exactly that cover. For such an expensive camera I wouldn't go for this deal but choose a different eufy unit. You only have 2 years of swaps and then you're on your own. I believe the water got down the back of the cover and into the weep hole over a number of months until the camera failed.

I know 2 people with these cameras, havent even got to those issues yet as the motion detection is so hit and miss, 1 would only detect point blank waving in front of it and another had largely diminished detection after a few weeks.
I have Eufy S340s and cant fault them but these i cant recommend

    • I'm going through this process too. I'd taken them down because they're so shit but they wanted a screenshot of where they were facing. When I told them I've already taken them down and factory reset them because they're useless, they asked for photos of what the cameras were looking at.

FFS, it's a known issue, the solar panels clearly look all messed up, why do you need a photo of what the cameras look at? This coupled with them taking 5 days to respond to each email is really infuriating.

I think they just want me to give up and throw them in the bin or something.

      • Yep eufy support is atrocious now and is all AI driven. I loved them for their local only approach but I don't trust them now to spend $$ on their higher end gear given how these have been going.

I’ll go with another brand next time and use HA to bridge them together. Likely Reolink.

  • I wonder if the E40 Kit fixes the issues of the S330 - https://www.bunnings.com.au/eufy-e40-2-cam-kit-homebase-3-eu…

    Need a sale however!

    • I believe so, the S330 Pro apparently is better too. There's a reason why the S330 are on clearance at pretty much every retailer. They've been trying to clear stock for months.

My S330s were not able to capture motion clips for a while with a mechanical hard disk in the homebase. After I swapped it with a SSD there is no problem anymore. One of my cameras' solar panel coating was peeled off, and it is installed under the cover.

    • Do u mean wouldnt detect motion?

      • I couldn't view any recording clips in the Eufy app, but when I walked past the camera, the red light came on, so it was clearly being triggered.

I have the same setup with an old mechanical laptop HDD and have the same issue. What model of SSD did you buy?
I just removed the HDD and notifications now work but I want 24x7 recording back

      • Hi I'm using a Silicon Power Ace A55 256GB SATA SSD. I don't wanna spend too much money on that so I just bought a cheap one. I've been using it for 7 months and so far no problem at all. I don't think the Eufy wireless camera has 24x7 recording.

        • There are now a handful of models that now support 24x7, however in addition to having a compatible camera you need Homebase 3 with HDD. The camera needs to be powered externally, so I use a external solar cell which means it only does 24x7 during the day (albeit that you can get a rechargable solar cell from aliepress now) and it will seamlessly resume in the morning.
There are a couple of youtube videos which show you the settings to enable (only visible when the cameras are hard wired)

I have it running on a mixture of indoor and outdoor camera models (the e40’s night vision is great)
I was curious about the SSD as I think the mechanical drive takes a beating with so many streams, so been watching out for a Samsung EVO sale during black friday sales at they have high durability

          • @Markusaus: Thank you very much for your useful information! I'm not sure whether my S330 and S220 support 24x7 recording or not, and I will definitely have a look. I just bought a Crucial BX500 4TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 on Amazon three days ago for my desktop and it cost my about 312 dollars after discount.
