This is all we use now. One bottle on the countertop above the washing machine. Two bottles under the sink. Restock when half price.

    • How much is half price in the past?

      • +1

I've been buying this for a couple years, I don't think it ever dipped below $25-$26 before S&S

        • I always select S&S, 6 months, then cancel S&S in that time. Seems I'm slightly off about half price: I paid $52.50 for 2 bottles on October 4 (Amazon Australia).

      • +2

We got it for $11.99 in 2019. Pre-coupon. Pre cashback. Yes, the 4L. Just like real estate, those days are over lol

1 in the brink 2 in the sink

      • What's a brink?

        • It's like an edge

          • @Poor Ass: I was on the brink of hurting my brain for a second trying to guess. So you mean like a bottle sitting on the edge of a counter or washing machine so it's out and ready to use?
I have a new saying to use then.

What is the best for greasy cotton polo shirts

    • +1

Although powders generally score higher overall in testing, Liquids tend to get better results with oil and greasy stains. And Omo ultimate is the best liquid.

    • +3

Create a paste with dishwashing detergent and bicarb soda.

Apply liberally to the grease stain and let sit for 5min.

Wash as per shirt label instructions.

      Really simple but effective solution.

  • What is better, liquid or powder?

    • Powder is more cost efficient than liquid.

    • Liquid if you wash with cold water most of the time. Powder if you prefer warm and hot water.

    • Powder cleans better according to Choice. I use Omo Ultimate Powder and have no complaints

    • The top performers in testing are generally powders. This is the top rated liquid if you prefer liquid.

Bought this as a recommendation on here and I got through 2 washes using this and I couldn't take the smell from my clothes any longer. Not necessarily a bad smell, just a smell that sticks around and makes you very aware that your clothes smell strongly of something.

    • +1

Compared to Omo Ultimate powder which has a very mild scent.

I'm always conscious of people when they walk past and their clothes reek of detergent scent or softener scent - it's too much!

      • +1

That's just something else to buy though and fabric softener shouldn't be used on towels etc. anyway so then different loads have to be divided up. I've gone back to Biozet Attack Eliminator which is my normal go-to.

        • +1

Softerner cant be used om towels? Towels are what i use my softerners on! What cant they be used on towels?

          • +2

@jecec: Because fabric softener drastically reduces the absorption of water on fabrics.

          • +2

@jecec: It coats the fibres in silicones which repel water. Think about trying too rinse hair conditioner, which are silicone based, out of your hair.

        • I wouldn't think so. Softerener will add even more scent.

    • +4

I use the OMO Ultimate Sensitive, the performance is much the same but it doesn't leave any lingering odours at all 😊

      • Choice rated the 'sensitive' versions of Omo worse at cleaning than the regular and Ultimate versions. I do like a mild scent. I find no scent at all the washing still smells a bit 'off'.

  • Hasnt these always been around half price

    • Quite often

  • This or Dynamo?

    • I tried Dynamo once and it smelled like vomit to me.

      • +1

        It is an odd fragrance.

Old Man's Old, those who know, know ;-)

    • +1

I always thought it was Old Man’s Out?

…and when they got home from exercise, it was FAB ;)

      • +1

It is, I just can't type. lol

I'm going to blame it on the wine though for not noticing my mistake :-)

  • Does anyone know how does it compares to Dynamo Professional 7 in 1?

    • +1

It's not in the current Choice test. In the past it's done very well, though behind OU.

      • Thanks mate, appreciate it

  • +1

Since when did laundry detergent start costing $50 a bottle? That is absolutely insane.

    • +2

      We can thank colesworth…

    • Even coffee beans are over $50 a kilo now…

  • +9

I use Aldi's Trimat Advanced Concentrated Laundry Liquid 2L at $13. Supposedly it is same thing as OMO. No need to stock up. Buy at anytime.

  • +2

what makes this significantly more expensive than the 4L Cold Power?

  • limit to one bottle only

    • yeah annoying!

  • What's the value for money with this one? Coles has its own cleaner for 2 or 3 dollars.

    • You get what you pay for. Cheap laundry detergents don't clean very well. Some of them reviewed by Choice are barely better than just using water. Over time you'll notice your white socks turning grey.

      • hmm okay, I'll buy one of these and try then, thanks!

      • Not always the case.

        https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/laundry-and-cleani…

Aldi's Trimat Powder @ $6.50/kg scored the same as Omo Ultimate Powder @ $18/kg (full price)- both 79%

Coles' cheapest powder also at @ $1.25/kg scored 67%

Water alone scored 49%. So while Coles' cheapest powder isn't the best, it's still performed the same or better than Radiant Advanced+ Ultra Power & Omo Powder Sensitive which you wouldn't call poor performers yet are much more expensive.

I personally use Omo Ultimate Powder (7kg tub).. when the tub finishes, I'll just buy the Aldi's Trimat Powder @ $6.50/kg as it scored the same and is cheaper.

        • thanks for the details, I'll go with the one on Aldi in future then!

        • OU Powder scored 86% with the blue box version 2% lower in the prior test. Pays to check with each new test.

          • @bogstation: Yes, I noted that.

If I'm buying OMO, I may as well buy their best one (Ultimate). But good to know that Omo Ultimate, Omo standard & Aldi Trimat are all very close to each other.

  • Good washing results but I hate the scent, way too strong. Much prefer the scent Biozet has.

    • +1

People have suggested that there is a sensitive version too. Try that.

    • What about using scent beads? Like this one:
      https://amzn.asia/d/1RYS17p

    • Biozet has about 4 different types. The one with softener smells pretty good.

  • Damn I bought the Omo active clean from Costco for $35.99

  • What to use to where you can mix colours and whites?

  • price now 33.75

  • +1

    Available again. Matching Big W.
