  • Any risks if I keep them for next year iphone

    • +3

No, but the gift cards ALWAYS go on sale. Just wait till next year, no?

      • Maybe there’ll be a new way of tampering in the future.

      • I remember being told that and this year, june and august did not have sales despite everyone saying they will be on sale monthly. :(

Lesson learned, if you need it, get it.
If you intend to use it, get it and use it up later.

        Lesson learned :)

    • +11

You can buy and redeem immediately, then keep the balance for as long as you wish.

      • I just logged into my Apple Account. I forgot I had one, though it might have been from around the time I had my 3GS iPhone .. (Still just going actually). So .. I think credit lasts for some time .. mine went in in 2009.

    • +3

You could unknowingly buy a pack that has been tampered with. When you go to use it in a years time you find someone else has already used it & neither Apple nor Woolworths will want to help you because you bought it 10 months ago.

If you don't want to spend it, at least load the credit into your Apple account.

But as others have said, you're better off just waiting until closer to the time. Otherwise inflation will into a chunk of the value.

    • +8

No risk, just load them to your Apple balance straight away.

    • +5

You'll get an extra ~5% off keeping the money in offset / HISA until a deal closer to the next release.

      • +1

Strictly speaking HISA will net you lower return - nominally 4 to 5% but you get taxed on HISA earning, so after some 30-45% tax you are left with around 3-4%. (Just being pedantic here)

      • even more if you put it in memecoins

  • +13

I’ll probably get bonus points from this promotion before the ones from Coles 2 weeks back.

    • Lol literally

      Everyday Rewards » Flybuys

      • Flybuys have had the better offers this year though.

        • +1

Yeah… I get way better & more targeted EDR offers tho.

I just wish FB would upgrade their antiquated backend

  • How much can I load on the gift card and if i was to go to the apple store how many can i use?

  • -1

does this stack with the 10% off mobile discount for everyday rewards and student 10% discount?

    • Everyday Mobile no, but you can stack with any discount from Apple EDU.

      • I'm new to this, does this mean i can use the gift cards to buy a new iPhone?

Thanks. Sorry for very noob question. Just want to clarify before spending $2k on gift cards

        • +2

You can use these gift cards to purchase devices from the Apple Store (in-store, online or over-the-phone at 133 MAC), including iPhones, iPads and Macs.

          • +1
          • @WookieMonster: I believe there is maximum $5k limit that can be stored as apple balance on apple id for payments right?

            • +1

              @itsok: I believe the limit is $4,999.

              • @WookieMonster: After its been saved to apple id , can throw away the gift cards right? No stickers anymore to keep as well

                • @itsok: Yeah, that is what I do myself.

                • @itsok: The old ones with the sticker are still around, just got some from Ampol today and they said they received them yesterday. But yeah, no sticker on the new ones.

              • +2

@WookieMonster: Yeah, and I believe you can still use another 8 gift cards together with the $4999 account credit on the same transaction if needed.

  • i need to buy 2 phones, can i buy 8x 500$ and pay in one transaction? can i pay instore ?

    • +4

Usually takes a bit of effort to convince the Woolies staff to let you buy more than $2k in the same transaction, but the T&C says the limit is 10, so they must honour. Then load them all to your Apple account and use the account credit to buy the iPhones either online or in-store, it is always safer to redeem them as soon as you buy them, I mean literally before leaving Woolies haha

      • I had nothing but trouble with that 2k limit. They bang on about fraud and duty of care.

You’re running a promo and I’m attempting to make use of it, not pay off a tax debt.

  • How does the variable gift card work?

    • +1

      Same as fixed

      • Sorry, I mean do I choose the amount at the register?

        • +1

Yes, you can choose to load the amount you want. I think upto $500 maximum in one card

        • +3

When you (or the staff member) scan the gift card's activation barcode at the checkout, the checkout will ask you to specify the amount you would like to load onto the gift card. If you are at a self-checkout, it may require a staff member to go into the checkout assist mode and do this for you.

          • +1

            @WookieMonster: Cool, thanks.

          • @WookieMonster: Does this mean the variable cards are inherently safer than the fixed value ones, since prior to loading they literally have no value (and no point tampering)?

            • +1

@theo96: The fixed cards have no value prior to purchase/activation either.
My understanding is that tampering involves recording the codes of these unactivated cards and try to redeem them periodically hoping that the cards have been paid for (activated) but before the genuine buyers have redeemed them.

              • @zonra: Ah ok… that makes sense — since the value loading/activation and redemption are 2 independent events, whether the value is preset or variable doesn't affect the redemption process.

  • +1

Having issue with one of five cards bought. The issue is the redeem code in the middle of 16 digits are missing about 6 digits. Going through the process with Apple support now, it has been 3 days still waiting.

    • +1

My $500 issue gift card just got resolved about 10 minutes ago, and refunded to my Apple account directly.

  • Thanks OP

  • Is it okay if I purchase a $2,000 variable gift card?

    • +2

Variable tops put at $500 per card, so you would need to buy 4 x $500 gc’s to get $2000 value

  • Hey guys,
I noticed it said it can take upto 14 business days for the bonus credit to be loaded.
So if I want to buy an iPhone immediately, its better to buy cards worth the full $2200 value of the phone.
Then once the credits come in use them for something else?

    Thanks!

    • Not sure what you mean by bonus credit. You’ll be getting bonus Everyday Rewards points which you can’t use to pay for an iPhone.

In any case, in my experience with Woolworths it’s almost always instant. You get the bonus Everyday Rewards points right after your Apple Gift Cards purchase. Not so much with Coles.

      • Thanks for this! I was thinking of buying gift cards with those EDR that I get. First time using this so wasn't sure how it would work. Thanks!

        • Just so you know you can't use the EDR points to buy the rest of the giftcards.

          1. On what purchase can I not enjoy my balance?

Everyday Rewards dollars cannot be enjoyed on purchases made in-store or online at a Redemption Business for all smoking products, gift cards (including Woolworths WISH Gift Cards, e-gift cards and iTunes) except where those gift cards are sold on Everyday Rewards Shop.

I guess you can buy Apple Gift Cards with your EDR points/dollars if Apple Gift Cards are sold on Everyday Rewards Shop which I don’t think they are but I haven’t checked.

        • You cannot use Everyday Rewards Dollars to pay for gift cards in-store. This is against the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions (as already indicated above), plus the in-store checkouts will not give you the option to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars to pay for gift cards.

You can use Everyday Rewards Dollars to pay for gift cards sold through the Everyday Gifting gift card portal on the Everyday Rewards website/app, but this bonus points deal does not apply to Apple gift cards sold through that portal, so I would not purchase Apple gift cards there unless you never shop at any other business accepting Everyday Rewards Dollars (e.g. Woolworths, BIG W, Petstock, etc) or you do not want to convert your Everyday Rewards Dollars for Qantas points.

          • +2

@WookieMonster: Thanks to all of you!
Will buy the full amount I need for the phone, the ERD can just be used for other stuff down the line. Thanks!

          • +3

            @WookieMonster: Hey,
            Just for future reference,
So I got the cards today at 7am, and I checked two hours later and I have 200$ worth of Everyday Rewards Dollars.

You CAN buy egift cards using these ERD.
I can also buy Apple gift cards.

Thanks for the help everyone, no other way I could have gotten 10% off on the phone.

  • -1

I have my EDR points auto convert into Flybuys for years. Is this something I should turn off for this deal if I’m intending to try get more ‘cash’ back? Probably got 200k fly buy points from EDR alone and no idea what to do with it

    • +3

You do realise that Flybuys is Coles’ own loyalty program, and EDR (Everyday Rewards) is Woolworths’?

Unless you are able to convert them via some other magical method I’m not aware of, I think you might possibly be getting them confused.

  • Got six cards last week. I got the staff to check for tampering. loaded the cards up straight away no issues.

Now which colour iPhone 17 should I get ? What are most people going for? I see a lot of the oranges getting sold and advertised.

    • From the many I've seen, it's mostly between orange and silver, get the one you want though

  • +1

The colour you like, you should get that one. Does it matter what other people are going for if you dont like that colour?

  • A novice question, can I use these apple gift cards to pay for the recurring icloud+ monthly subscription fees?

    • +1

Yes you can use Apple GC’s on anything across the Apple system now

  • +1

It’s my first time buying one. Do I need to go early in the morning? I heard some gift cards sell out quickly, so I’m wondering if that’s the case with Apple gift cards, too.

    • Just an update: I went there this morning. I got there early because I thought they might sell out, but they had heaps of cards, so I probably didn’t need to rush. I was able to buy five with no issues.

The new cards look really hard to open and reseal, but I guess tampering is still possible. Just in case, I scratched them right after paying and redeemed them to my Apple account before leaving the store. While I was doing that, the staff at the counter kept looking at me like, “What is he doing?” haha.

Anyway, everything redeemed fine. Thanks, OP!

  • Does apple price match with other Australian online/retailers if you find a cheaper Apple products?

    • Only up to 10%.

      • I mean, if I’ve already purchased these gift cards and loaded them onto my Apple account, and then next week Officeworks has an iPhone 17 Pro Max on sale for X amount, can I go to the Apple Store, reference the Officeworks price, and have Apple sell it to me at that price?

  • Hi, Does that mean I can buy and put credit in apple account straight to protect from theft. But how do I use it in store with this offer https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/934782 ?

  • +1

Hi all, I could not find this deal on woolworth or everyday rewards websites. I could only see one with ample but that seems to have a $500 limit.

Am I looking at the wrong place?

    • +2

      It’s in the catalogue.

      • Thank you I will look into that!

    • +2

Did you look at Woolworths' weekly specials catalogue?

The deal link is to this catalogue, and this offer is advertised at the bottom of page 29 of the NSW catalogue.

      • +1

        Thank you!!

  • Thanks for the post - got a handful of gift cards this morning, and the points were credited (then shuffled over to QFF) pretty much instantly!

The Woolies I went to had removed all the Apple GCs from the shelf and instead kept them behind the service counter to prevent fraud. I watched them tear open a fresh batch of shrink-wrapped GCs, so hopefully that's as safe as it gets!

  • My Woolies was great, they had them in a drawer locked away from everyone and then they also opened it up to check if the seal had been breached. Couldn't have gone any easier. All the codes worked.

  • I plan to do below

I buy $600 in Apple gift cards at Woolworths during the 20× promo.

I pay with a Coles Rewards Mastercard (2 Flybuys points/$1).

Then I buy an iPad https://www.apple.com/au/shop/buy-ipad/ipad/128gb-blue-wifi from Apple during their sale (28 Nov–1 Dec) for $80 apple gift card.

    In total, i get

$600 - $60 in everyday points to be used back in Wollies - $6 in flybuys points - $80 apple gift card that I am not sure what to do.

  • At my nearest Woolworths, the staff is so nice and warm, they also put the Apple Gift Card under the service counter, not place them at shelf. (Prevent SCAM, awesome!)
These card are version 2 (https://gcdb.com.au/article/gift-card-scams/#apple-gift-card…)

  • +3

Excellent experience at Woolies today. No variable cards on display so went to the service counters. Thanks to OZBargain users for the tip.

Staff said, variable cards are locked in due. Got $3k variable cards ($500 each). I almost forgot to scan the rewards card. Staff reminded me. I scanned and she asked, so you want Qantas points? Had completely forgotten my rewards were converting to Qantas. I was like not sure, she said, I can change it in the app. I told her let’s just go with the Qantas points please. Paid the lot at once. Came back to the car and redeemed all codes without any issues.

Opened rewards app and bang, all points including bonus to Qantas done ($300 worth)! Super quick system! Loved the transaction!

Now finally getting the MacBook Air M4 during the back Friday sale after using my 7 year old 2018 MacBook Pro!

Huge shoutout to OP and others for contributing to this thread.

    • +1

Wow you managed to get $3k in one go.
I went to my local Woolworths and was told that the manager has set a $500 per person per day limit. I spoke to the manager who told me that this was set by Woolworths head office and there is nothing he can do.

Can anyone confirm or refute this? It's just annoying that I have to go multiple times and go to multiple shops.

      • +1

I spoke to the manager who told me that this was set by Woolworths head office and there is nothing he can do.

I don't believe that this is a new head office rule. Make a complaint via 1300 767 969.

Can anyone confirm or refute this?

It would be in the terms if it was as the manager claimed (unless this is a very new rule - which is highly unlikely, given that this type of promotion has happened many times before).

      • I bought 4 gift card of $500 each. No issue whatsoever.

      • Manger pulling that out of his buttocks, head to another woolies

      • Yes, no issues at all. Staff over the service counter was pretty cool. In fact she even asked me “what’s the limit on this one?” Takes out the catalogue and checks the terms. “Oh it’s 10 per Cust. How many do you want?”Great customer service overall.

      • +1

I was told $1000 a day and go to another Woolies. I will also be lodging a formal complaint.

        • Some random in-house rule. T&C clearly states, 10 max card per customer. No $$ limit.

          • @BuddhaBoy: Yep, they don't care. This manager even pretended to call customer support and came back and said yeah $1000 hard limit Australia wide at Woolworths.

    • Thinking to get a Macbook Air or Pro, do you find Air is as power as Pro without heating issue?

      • Have been talking to a lot of people who use the Air and the feedback has been nothing but amazing. No heating at all. But again, these are not doing any video editing. Most of them are using it for home and work purposes.

I have always had a pro in the past, the current one, 2018 is still going strong, but does lag when I am working on multiple spreadsheets, using full office suite and PDF docs. This time, with the M4 chip, I think the Air will be the best for my use case scenario. I do basic video and photo edits for my business and Air will be more than capable to handle this. Ordering tonight!

  • -1

Excuse me for being a nupty but does this show in the catalogue? I can't see it…

  • +1

silly question perhaps but how do you upload the credit? i have never done this before. I don't have iphone or mac but I plan to buy one

    • +1

If you want to top up an Apple Account Associated Balance using Apple gift cards, you can follow these instructions.

If you simply want to redeem your gift cards during the checkout process:

      • In-store: take the physical gift cards with you to the Apple Store and ask to pay using gift cards. The staff member serving you should have a device on them that can scan the gift card redemption code. You can redeem up to 20 gift cards in one transaction.

      • Online: on the payment screen, there is an option to enter the gift card redemption code under the Have a gift card? section. You can redeem up to 8 gift cards in one transaction.

      • Over the phone at 133 MAC: I have not done this myself before, but I assume you can provide the gift card redemption code over the phone when paying for your purchase. I believe you can redeem up to 8 gift cards in one transaction.

  • -1

Man the piece of shit store manager Lina at Gordon Woolworth made up accusation saying I have multiple purchase of gift cards under the everyday rewards card (which I don’t)

So I asked her to pull it up and show me, which she can’t

I know they are doing their job, but don’t make people’s life difficult by making up shit

To make it worse she even made up bullshit $1000 daily transaction limit

What a piece of work for a store manager

    • -1

Negging this deal not because of the offer, but a waste of time dealing with Woolworth employee being a store manager and all

  • Sold out in Sydney town hall :(
