    Better than Eufy?

I'm in the Reolink ecosystem, so can't comment on Eufy, but can't complain about Reolink. All my cameras have been rock solid

I'm on the reolink system too - the cameras are "fine" (I had some RLC-540A which had very noticeable smudging (but they are cheap). The nvr/software is definitely very basic.

All in all its cheaper, but you get less engineering effort for it.

I don't regret going reolink, and will probably get this haha.

I had the Eufy from a previous deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/910558 AI tracking was great, but the thing constantly went offline. I bought a new mesh router for better WIFI signal, but the same problem. Returned it to JB HIFI and the guy wasn't surprised. Purchased this Reolink and its rock solid! I miss the AI tracking but don't miss the hassle. This price is cheaper than what I paid.

    • How did you know it was going offline? Do you mean you went into the app and it couldn't connect?

Heads up this is NOT PoE / Ethernet cabled, its 240V Wired + WiFi. this basircally turned me off :(

You can also buy direct from Reolink. Use code coupert8off and total price delivered is $218.95

I bought this a week ago (for more dollars but had convinced myself I needed it straight away - grrr).

    A few quick notes:

This hardwired version is made to easily replace an existing floodlight.

    If:
    - you are reluctant to do that yourself
    - you don't want to get a sparky for a 2 minute job
    - you aren't replacing an existing light
    - you aren't installing a new junction box

Then, you can buy it bundled with an AC cable from Reolink for an extra $29 so you just plug it into any AC outlet.

There is a rumoured PoE version coming "soonish" that was apparently accidentally launched on Amazon Canada about a month ago but quickly taken down. It's entirely possible that it won't be quite as bright owing to limitations of PoE.

The older, arguably uglier but more commercial/serious looking duo floodlight PoE is on special for $189 both via Amazon and via Reolink.

It is not as bright - 1800 lumens. And you can't adjust colour temperature.
But it has a bigger vertical FOV.

The floodlight on the Elite is awesome. It's very bright at max and there are multiple adjustments that you can make.

BUT when a person is detected there is a delay when you hear the IR click off and then it takes at least a full second - maybe 2 - before the flood light comes on. So, it's not just that it's slow but that you lose IR vision for the period of that delay AND a potential intruder could very easily notice the sound of the IR turning off - and notice the little red lights disappear.

Reddit Reolink enthusiasts seems to think that delay should be fixed when it gets it's first firmware update, but I am not aware of anything official on that.

I have also been a little disappointed in how close you can get before a person is detected, but to be fair it is not setup in an ideal location for a 180 camera (lots of varying gradients, some close jutting out bits of carport and retaining walls that could be causing IR reflection issues, etc) and I have not had a chance to try and tweek it yet.

    • Is this actually easy to DIY? I don't mind getting my hands dirty. As if it;'s really 2 minute job, a sparky quoted almost $100 to install for each floodlight camera =/

Can't stomach paying that in this economy, especially if it's 2 minutes job
