        It's morbin time

        • did you see the latest one.

          "it's Tronin' time"

  • It is a great film. Almost as good as 28 days later. 28 weeks later was rubbish.

    • +9

28 Weeks opening sequence is amazing. the rest of the movie stinks though, unfortunately.

      • +3

Agree. Sets you up so high at the start and then degrades into rubbish.

        • +4

But where is 28 months later?

          • +5

@shkippy: 28 mins later. in the end everybody dead. that's how quick.

also watched Gone in 28 seconds. nicolas cage kills them with the car he stole.

            • +1

@skibidigrimacmoggr67: I watched 28 Seconds Later. There were people getting eaten, but it was not a zombie flick apparently.

              • +1

                @Munki: sounds delicious.

I watched Frankenstein. some parts had me sus like in Shape of water. the woman wasn't impressed by Victor Frankenstein's dorkiness. she was more attracted to the undead. was seriously expecting them to bonk in the next scene.

      • +7

Danny Boyle was unavailable to direct the 2nd movie because he was making "Sunshine".

He, however, did direct the opening scene. It's so superior to the rest of the movie.

        • 2nd movie because he was making "Sunshine".

I love that movie. I keep rewatching it. really good scifi, even though 28 days and trainspotting apparently were bigger movies. I think 28 days is the biggest? but not so much scifi imo more like a zombie movie.

    • +18

I thought this movie was horrific lol. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

      • +7

You are correct, it was horrific.

      • +11

Correct, the only movie I've watched in the cinema where I pondered if I should walk out halfway through, as others did. I endured the pain, keeping hope, but alas the disappointment endured :(

        • +6

yeah it was terrible. unnecessarily gory without a strong narrative and performance unlike the previous films.

          • +14

            @gorr80: Semi-spoiler alert…

I thought it was good until the scene:

"So your mum's got cancer I think"

            "Ah geez"

            "Anyway…. here's her skull"

            • -2

              @shkippy: There was a semi alright! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

          • +2

@gorr80: Agreed. Absolute garbage. Literally nothing happened in the movie.

            • @adehmar: I saw it at 9pm at night. I had the whole cinema to myself, I was nicely tipsy, and it was still a wreck. Pacing was all off.

I was really hoping that if they were going to do the people-find-a-way-to-survive angle, that we'd see some really strange yet practical adaptions. Kind of like the Fremen in dune.

Liked the worm eating dudes though. That was a nice addition

      • +6

amen. terrible movie. took the genre and story in a weird direction. removed all subtlety

      • +2

You are right, it went downhill fast after 20 minutes in or so

      • -1

Agreed, had no link to the previous movies. Awful!

    • +1

Have you rewatched 2 recently? I originally thought 2 was weak but I rewatched it just before I saw 3 and think it's alright and that 3 was a massive let down. The last scene of 3 was particularly terrible and really should have been cut as it brought a bad movie into joke territory.

      1>2>3

      • I think the tone shifts and especially the ending, come from the change in whose “eyes” we’re seeing the story through.

The first act is from the dad’s perspective: intense, serious, high-stakes. His mum even comments on it during their night of camping.

The second act feels lighter because it’s told through the mother and son, and their bond brings a warmth and softness to the story.

The third act and the ending shift again, this time to the son’s and the doctor’s perspectives, which is why things feel a bit unusual—because the doctor is a little “out there.”

The ending ties back to Spike wanting to bring his Power Ranger toy to feel safe. When he sees the people coming to help him in their jumpsuits, we’re seeing how he imagines them: arriving like real Power Rangers coming to his rescue.

        • -2

It's a B grade zombie flick with a weak cast. The last scene was not congruent with any part of the movie. There was no reason to make that callback just for that quick action sequence, and that scene is widely panned as being terrible. Jimmy should have been part of the main story for it to fit in at all. If you want to justify it as being esoteric that requires a big brain to find decent then fine.

          • @studentl0an: It's both a call back and an introduction to 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which is released in January. If you want to watch a film as a stand alone bit of entertainment, fine, but you shouldn't be surprised that a series that started over two decades ago makes grabs various bits of the timeline and foreshadows others.

    • +1

Highly disagree. You really think a little boy with zero survival skills is somehow making his way to the Skull Tower? It felt like one of those teen/kids fantasy movies—like Chronicles of Narnia or maze runner. Lol

    • +6

Imma wait for 28 Decades Later. They'll have figured it out by then.

      • I heard on youtube latest observations show the universe is shrinking/contracting/dying.

so 28 universe life cycles later, is possible.

  • +7

watched this last night, wow absolute terrible movie

  • Stinka

  • +3

    Shocking movie

  • +2

The trailer for this movie was awesome. 10/10.

Pity the movie itself is a 6.

    • -1

Giving it a 6 is very generous!

  • +6

Don’t listen to the negative Nancy’s. This is an amazing zombie movie.

    • Agree.
I don't like horror or zombie genre, but this one genuinely had me writhing in my seat.

      • +3

        Maybe you have worms.

    • +2

If you liked this, you might appreciate The Long Walk. Saw it last month and wanted to bash my head against a wall to get rid of the memories cos I could feel them making me stupider

    • +1

First half was amazing, then turned to a drama movie . Still loved it and cant wait for Bone Temple

    • The ending was gold, Jerry…. GOLD.

  • i really wanted to like this movie, but its bad…..

  • +1

    The ending was jarring…

    • The ending subverted all expectations, but not in a good way.

    • +1

It was, but the reasons for it were reasonably clear. Movies that are nicely wrapped up and have you walking out of the cinema thinking about where to eat rather than what the hell that was about are definitely commercially preferred, but this style of movie and its jarring ending work for many of us.

  • Almost as good as the original imo.

  • I'm glad this is available, and I hope people check it out to see what they think. As a lover of the first film in particular, however, I thought this one stank.

  • I saw this when it came out at the cinemas. Was excited, trailer was banging. Movie started well and stayed alright but the ending was pretty anticlimactic and strange… what a shame

  • nice added to wishlist thanks.

just a fyi, this is part 1 out of 2 parts. I didn't realise this until a week ago.

same with the Mission impossible movie, didn't realise there were 2 parts and you are only getting half the story. 😐

    • I thought it was a trilogy. More the merrier

      • oh there is a part 3 of 28 years?

      • +4

Yes, it's planned to be three parts. The next one, Bone Temple, is complete and coming next year. The third, untitled film hasn't entered production, and if the monetary performance of the first mirrors the sentiment here, it probably won't happen, which is a shame because I loved this.

        • +1

Yes, it's planned to be three parts.

ok thank you I had no idea. only in the last week did I see the poster picture for Bone temple, and thought it was just a alternate title. but after looking it up learned it was Part 2 of 28 Years later. I was fully expecting 28 Years (Part 1) to be the complete story, so lucky I learned about Part 2 before I watched it otherwise I get disappointed when I didn't know there's more to the story.

  • +3

Maybe worths to mention that it's not fully free to watch like before

  • First movie was great, second was meh and this one was worse than meh.

  • +3

I really liked this movie as instead of rehashing the previous two they took it into a new direction whilst filming it just like the first in a unique way.

I was on the end of the seat during that chase scene.

The ending was so off the wall yet tied so well to the start of the movie.

Wish there was more sequels that took risks like this one.

  • +2

Terrible movie. 28 days was so good. Apparently there is a sequel to this one coming out in February and has the 'jimmies' story hence the ending

  • -2

Not seeing a bargain here. The movie is shit.

  • +1

I liked this more than the second one (after the opening scene cause that's absolute cinema). Actually enjoyed it overall.

  • +1

All 3 are on either prime or Disney plus, going to watch all 3 over the next 3 nights. Thanks for this.

  • I actually really enjoyed 28 years. I think people overhype the first two. I rewatch both of them the day prior to seeing the new one. All of them have pretty big problems.

Thunderbolts and The Naked Gun were 2 other movies that suprised me too.

  • I liked it, it's just a pity it looked like rubbish about 50% of the time, wish they'd spent the time figuring out how to use the weird camera setup before jumping in.

  • +1

shaun of the dead > 28 weeks opening scene > 28 days > WWZ > dawn of the dead > 29 years > rest of 28 weeks

    • I liked WWZ. a nice blend of zombie and will smith's I am legend. didn't like I am legend as much as WWZ.

I am legend also kind of had plot similarities to I, robot.

  • Man this movie sucked, I really enjoyed the other ones.
