  very tempting, but there are lots of 1 star reviews claiming they received counterfeit drives with invalid serial numbers which are slow or die quickly

        Aus consumer law allows the customer to choose between refund OR replacement. So you can demand they replace it with what you actually bought, rather than just give your money back.
