Is $25/TB a myth? I've been waiting so long

For anyone reading, Barracuda aren't NAS drives. Ironwolf or Exos would be the recommended spec for NAS. Not having a go at you Barney, NAS wasn't even mentioned in this thread yet.

You can still get sub-$20 for recertified. If you're doing raid6 with 4 drives, you have 2 drives of redundancy and can survive a little wait if you need to replace down the line due to failure.

Recommended source?

@Slippage: I've bought from east digital. They have sales that show up on OzB regularly. Bear in mind they've been used, but Raid6 allows for redundancy that reduces the risk on the lottery on buying a lemon. They still do a 3 year warranty I believe.

All of these were sub $20/TB in September

@Llampy Waiting for $25/TB when there are $20/TB drives available right now ? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/934940

This was like ~$370 the other week

bouthgt from amazon in 2023 for 189.47, need this deal again

Same. Foolishly only bought one :(

Same. Dreading the day any of my drives die.

New to NAS/Raid, pardon the ignorance - how come?

Because of the parent comment that I'm replying to? Cost of replacement is ~2x what I paid.

Was this the mix up between usd/AUD on Amazon?

5% extra off for buying 2+
Local stock is $428 after the coupon - http://ebay.com.au/itm/127031856770
Although I'm aware this is an older model of Ironwolf NAS so not sure how much difference between..
Amazon had the 10tb WD red plus for $305 this morning.
That is only $30/tb so is better value if you don't need the extra 2tb
The 3camels page indicates it is not on sale but it was when it popped up on my Amazon home page this morning: https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0F4R3YCL6

Thanks - got 4.
Funny enough it asks for the import charge when it it's over $1k order so had to split as 3/1
oh yeah good thing you remember

Did prices jump up? I got 12TB WD hdds a few years ago for less than this.

Yes.
The latest justification is increased demand due to data centres/AI.
But let's be honest, this isn't the first time HDD prices have gone up. Usually they just blame floods

$32.95/TB
