I wonder why the illicit alcohol market is not as prevalent as illicit tobacco - that being said I have seen from time to time shops selling suspiciously cheap alcohol that doesn't look like they have a licence
I'd speculate that it's because illicit alcohol would be worth far less per kilogram, making it more difficult to smuggle, among other things.
Drinkers of whiskies that cost hundreds of dollars aren't going to source it from the black market because they want to be sure they're getting the real thing.
You'd be surprised, there is a bit of grey market out there, which is just stock imported by rogue importers and put into the market. But it's all the same, Dutch Johnnie Walker and Aussie Johnnie Walker is the same. People are just making savings on the exchange rate.
Illegally distilled, is much rarer given the pain it is to get a liquor license, why risk for $10 upside on a bottle which you can't guarantee will taste good

Blended scotch is best mixed, but can be drunk straight. Not the best option, single malt is better straight. Blended is more budget-friendly

Try swapping your default store. Mine was set to Martin Place and the price displayed $53.95. After changing store to Bondi Junction it's now showing $43.15
