Great price. Have the g86 power. Fantastic phone. Battery lasts forever

    • -1

High-end phone users: minimise 30W charging? 6720mAh battery will die faster, especially charging on 25°C + days.
The same applies to heavy-use on 25°C days.

      • Fast charging doesn't have too much impact on battery longevity

        https://youtu.be/kLS5Cg_yNdM?si=iCtRm3JOr-Ub_dcF

      • How about charging a powered-off phone to 80% SOC during bed time every night?

        • It's a good-guide, but the parameter to observe is as per below.

Say, you 30W+ fast-charge overnight with summer room temp. 30°C+…see it for yourself?

Battery Li-ion: extend life by observe & manage,
          a.Temperature…< 45°C
          b.Volts…< 4.3V
          Install AccuBattery-APP & see-it for yourself.

I've started using this Motorola phone recently. I'm very surprised how great how great it is. it has exceeded my expectation for a budget phone.

    • which model

  • JB hifi will price match this?

  • +1

Bought a G86 Power a few days ago. I'm excited to see how it performs, especially the battery.

    • let me know how it goes because mine has been underwhelming and i'm not sure if it's a dud.

      • Underwhelming in what way?

      • +2

Decent experience so far. Although performance is somewhat lackluster (micro hitches every now and then), even compared to my ~3 year old Moto Edge 30. The battery is fantastic though, which is the main reason I bought it.

        • Thanks for the update. The battery only lasts 1 day for me. It's about the same as my 3 year old phone's battery. I was expecting at least 1.5 days.

          • @levqchi: Yeah that doesn't sound right, I'm only down 3-4% since I left that reply.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/935127 get Fusion 50 , pay additional $70..

    • +1

Is it worth the extra $70?

      Smaller battery…

      • +4

        And curved screen.

  • +1

It’s funny that the cheaper one has double the storage. Didn’t expect that haha.

    • +21

Wait until you find out what Google & Windows operating systems do.

    • +3

I didn't neg you. I don't like to neg anyone these days.

I guess Meta (Facebook) pays Motorola … How? There are Meta App Installer, Meta App Manager and Meta Services app in my Moto G54 as part of system apps. They can be disabled.

      @WatchNerd too

      • -2

I am negged by those who recently purchased a Moto ;)

    • +1

Motorola is Lenovo so it is Chinese

      • +1

it's funny cause the pop ups tlak about sending data ot the USA if you signup for moto acc egc

    • Motorola reduces software support costs: fewer Android-OS & security patches?

How many owners who recently purchase their new smart-phones will be using it as their main-phone in it 4th years of ownership?
Look at your past purchase of Smart-phones…shorter life-cycle?

      • i'm a budget phone user. my current daily driver is a moto. third moto i've owned. the previous two motos became glitchy 6 months before end of support. i've found this typical for all the chinese brands i've used. i don't know if it's the battery or because of planned obsolescence through their firmwares. the ztes i've owned went kaput because of their batteries. huawei better than zte.

samsung and apple are best for longevity when considering both hardware and software. just my experience.

        • Motorola-AU with 50% off RRP is bang-for-$ & hence resonate with many frugal OzBargainers

      Mossad hacks for sure

    • +2

Reasons to consider the Motorola Moto G86 Power 5G
      It's only $43.68 dollars more ($215.78 vs $172.10)

Reasons to consider the Motorola Moto G56 5G
Double the storage (256GB vs 128GB)
      It's $43.68 dollars cheaper ($172.10 vs $215.78)

      • I bought the G56 just a couple of months back for near $300 as there were no sales and I needed to separate my personal from my business, I have to say apart from being a little slow with all the apps on (notably the Tesla app is a headache) , it holds up pretty well and the battery life is superb. I struggle understand why anyone would pay 5x as much for an iphone.

        • +1

I don’t understand why people like iPhones either! It’s so frustrating when you run out of storage, downloading and backing up photos becomes such a hassle. Android makes all of that so much easier.

    • The Moto G56 also thinner, lighter and obviously cheaper too.

    • -5

Reasons to consider the Motorola Moto G56 = flat screen, none of this curved screen nonsense like the G86.
Easier on folks who want to add a screen protector and find a case that fits snugly.

      • +3

I think the G86 is flat too.

      • +1

The g86 went back to a flat OLED screen. I guess Motorola had so much pushback on going curved they decided to give the people what they want.

      • Both my kids have the g86 without screen protectors, using just the case in the box and I've personally seen them be dropped from kids shoulder height (1m) onto concrete more than once, edge first, screen first, and just shrug it off. I think the curve actually helps! it's a nicer (and faster) phone than the G56. Not sure on camera qualty but I've no complaints with that on the G56.

      • Bro, do some research before you post! The Moto G series are all flat screens! The Moto edge's are probably what you are thinking about.

    • +1

  • +1

JBHIFI has this for $199 now

  • Does the G86 have NFC?

    • In Australia Yes.

  • +3

Should I hold for the price of the G86 power to dip below $200 before pulling the trigger ?

    • I suppose the questions are really:

Where is the bottom, price wise? I'd say at it's lowest it might be ~$150 to $160

How long are you prepared to wait for that to happen, ~March to April 2026?

Will there be enough stock left to pick one up? That's the risk you run.

Ultimately from reports, it's a bang for buck phone at a ripper price right now.

You know the saying 'he who hesitates….'

      • +1

Haha, there is already one on the way as this deal stacked with CommBank offer, so for $190

  • Are these phones are good?

    • +2

Good if you are on budget.

  • +2

Hands full, short comment. Modern moto phones are awesome and fantastic value, defo recommend

  • +2

Black is out of stock, grabbed a purple. Coupon is listed on TopCashBack, so should be 3% cashback, possibly making this cheaper than the Allphones and Kogan-Dick deals 😀

  • +1

What has a better camera than this for sub $400?

      • Ah damn, no micro sd card slot! I should have specified that.

        • Unfortunately I dont think there is a sub 400 with a microsd card slot & a better camera.

For a good camera your options are pixel or galaxy series & both have ditched microsd

          • @mitt: Thanks. How are people managing that these days? Paying for google storage?

            • +2

@Villainous: Nope, you must be new to Android. You simply connect your PC with a cable and transfer files over like it's a portable hard drive.

              • @WatchNerd: Nope, Android user the last 10-15 years. A phone is a PC so I want to keep as much on there as possible for easy access.

            • +2

@Villainous: Sorry to reply so late but I use a modded Google Photos (using ReVanced) app to get free unlimited original quality storage upload.
              https://revanced.app/patches?pkg=com.google.android.apps.pho…
The original Pixel phones had a deal where it allowed anything you uploaded from it count as zero storage to your Google Photos/Drive account, so this patch just spoofs your Google Photo app to seem like you're uploading from a Pixel.
Free free to message me if you get stuck or need help.

            • +1

@Villainous: And this is what it looks like for a photo I've auto-uploaded today from Google Photo's side: https://i.imgur.com/yrkOg31.png

              • @venomin: Cool, thanks for that info 👍 I ended up buying the G86 and very happy with it. Much better camera than my G54.

  • I bought the g86, upgrading from my g84, but i have over 128gb of files. I put an SD card in the g86 to copy the photos and vids to, but they are all out of order, and also cant be sorted into the dates they were taken. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this? Or do I just need a phone with bigger onboard storage? Thanks guys

    • are they on same software version? usually shouldn't be a problem but idk

  • +1

You see mobile phone. I see best cheap instant Android Auto for my car ! Just connect via USB to car and hide it in glove box

    • +3

Wouldn't you run the risk of the battery overheating on warm days when it's parked outside? I'd be paranoid about the thing catching fire!

Also, wouldn't you need a separate mobile data plan too? There's wireless android auto adapters these days which convert your wired system to wireless. They're relatively inexpensive and connect automatically when the system turns on.

  • +1

I'll be coming from a S23, do you think the g86 power will have comparable performance for yt, chrome, standard function?

I'm over the small battery on the S23

    • +3

For basic phone tasks like that you wont notice a difference. The SOC in the G86 is slower but you wont push either one to their limits doing basic app/browser stuff.

The only tradeoff you may notice is the camera in the Motorola series is not as good.

    • +1

You will notice the difference. Theres a noticebale lag when scrolling or just going through phone compared to flagship phones. I can only imagine it getting worse the more storage is filled and more RAM is used.

Oled screen is a big dip in quality. Contrast is poor, along with colours but the G86 is very bright. I actually think its a LED on the Moto, as none of my other oled screens look like this.

Camera isn't poor but its nowhere near the quality of the Samsung. The speakers on the G86 power might be the best I've heard on any phone. Although the bass isn't that great the loudness and clarity is very good, with a virtual surround effect

Cant tell you much about the battery as my G86 wouldn't charge and had to be returned

  • Should I get screen protector and case?

    • +1

They come with basic cases but without screen protectors.

  • Both oos

  • +2

    Paid 300 a month ago -__-

  • Any recommendations for a usb c to headphone adapter?

  • I'm using a Samsung S20 FE 5G now, is it worth the upgrade to the G86 Power?

    • +1

That's an awesome phone. Replaced my battery in April so hopefully it will last another couple of year.

  • I placed my order with JB yesterday and saw this
Could not buy it using the voucher only to find out I am not an eBay Plus member anymore.

Oh well. Was worth a try.

JB gave it to me for a deal @ $246.51 down from $249 and the case and screen protector down to $24.95 from $29.99

Not a bad deal I think

  • Um, question for anyone in the know. I am looking at getting the G86, but have suddenly found there are two versions (the Power has a bigger battery)? G86 Power and just G86. Good Guys have the G86 listed, specs listed as the bigger battery (6720mah, suggesting the power version), yet the model number: 11901342060 (google suggests this is not the power version). https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/motorola-g86-128gb-spellbound…

    • -1

Put both models into gsmarena compare feature to see any differences.

      • Thanks Skinner. I think TGG has the G86 Power version, as the specs listed on the website all seem to match the power version. Just the model number threw me off a little. Hopefully will get there in the next day or two to get it (as have some store cash to use on it). Cheers

  • Does anyone know if the G86 Power has NFC (tap to pay) some sites say it does but others say it doesn't.

    • Mine has
