  • Can we use the "Department Stores Gift Card" at Coles? And Bunnings?

    • Read the description. We can use at Bunnings but not at Coles. I think we can use it at JB Hifi.

    • +6

you can buy coles myer card from myer to use at coles

      • Wow

        • +1

also can buy wish card from Big W then you can use at woolworth.

      • +2

Last I checked they only display Myer cards and hide the Coles Myer card.

        • +2

I bought a Coles Myer card at Myer last week. They had plenty of them on display at one of the registers, right next to the Myer cards.

        • you must be in Vic

        • Depending on the store, I've seen both

      • Can anyone confirm that it works?

    • Use report, otherwise you're waiting for one of them to random stumble upon your comment

      • Thanks. I wrote the comment above and also reported it. I don't think power users get the report but mods do.

You'll notice they were very quick and updated the deal with the incentive gift card tag in the less than five minutes.

        • Correct, only moderators can see submitted reports.

I am basically only a regular user that has the ability to edit other people's deal posts (as well as my own). I cannot add Related Stores, mark deals as Targeted or Long Running, see who has downvoted a comment, etc.

    • I tried to update the entry, but didn't seem to do anything to the tags unfortunately

      • Yeah you can only tag one product or store. If you want more only power users/mods can do that. Hence the comment and report by me.

  • great

bought 2 and they locked my account >:(

    • +2

Same - cant purchase anymore till it gets unlocked .
Not sure if it was the timing of purchases one after the other, the amounts, or just general activity as I also redemeed the cashback quickly

      • probably their way of putting a limit without stating "limit 2 per customer"
I bought several gift cards last time they had something like this with absolutely no issue

        • I bought 3.

    • bought 3 time now and I used almost all my limit

      • +3

You can always repay via a separate credit card to unlock additional ZIP funding. Almost instantaneous

        • can you repay while the transaction is still pending?

        • I repaid and placed the 4th order after 1 hour it still shows pending. I guess once you used all your limit, you need to wait to spend again. My linmit is $1500 so my 4th order is pending

      • Also bought 3. Now the 4th one won't check out, there is 'technical issue' apparently

        • same, done 3 and can't do the 4th

        • my 4th one still shows Processing after 15 mins

    • They "needed" to verify ownership of my credit card, even though the accounts are in the same name :/

the Department Store card is the GOAT can use almost everywhere. ans also can buy gift card to use at coles and woolworth. don't know any where sell Amazon gift card

    • Where can you buy woolworths gift cards? Big W? Don't they lock it at the software terminal to prevent it?

      • +1

this is visa card you should able to use it to buy anything from big w. I use the special big w card to buy apple card last Friday

      • Just tried to buy apple and google play and wish gift card at big w and as I thought it was locked and terminal said not allowed.

I tried apple and google play gift card at JB hi-fi and it was also locked.

This is in Brisbane but it shouldn't matter where.

        • Can you confirm they worked at JB in general?

          • @Mr-NPC: Sorry nope. I didn't have anything that I wanted to buy (besides gift cards)

            • @brisdaz: Damn well hopefully they do given the MCC code (not that I've even received mine yet)

        • Use the Department Store Gift Card?

        • +1

          To add:

Can confirm that Google Play and Apple Gift cards are able to be purchased at Big W. It must have been only Wish gift cards that are blocked.

This is in Brisbane Queensland although location shouldn't matter.

  • What does the "Rewards Goal" mean? Do you have to hit a certain goal before you can cash it out?

    • +1

Yes Reward Goals means you have to hit $10 before you can redeem and only multiples of it.

      • so ideally you need to buy $100 or $200 gift cards?

        • +1

Or $500. If you intend to buy for example 7 eleven gift cards then you may buy other than multiples as it adds up. It does however expire after a while (not sure how long).

      • Redeemable through the Zip Rewards program

How does one "cash out"? Do they transfer money to your bank/PayPal, or can you only buy other products from Zip?

        • +3

It becomes a credit to your ZIP account, so offsets the amount owing.
          E.g. buying $500 -> get $50 cashback -> redeem into ZIP account -> owing $450 only

  • +2

Is this card safe to stock up?

    • +2

Looks okay - I just bought one to check the expiry, and it'll be valid until Nov 2028.
Worst case, convert it into a Woolies gift card which doesn't expire.

  • thanks op

  • It used to work at Amazon, not anymore

    • I was hoping to add it to Shopback and then buy Amazon through them (MCC look-up says SB lists themselves as Department Store) but sadly they won't add my card as payment method

  • Thanks mate :)

  • is anyone getting the "exceeding redemption limit" when trys to conver the cashback balance to the zip pay? looks like it's capped at $120

    • +1

      wait 24 hours

      • will do

  • +1

How many can I use for a large purchase at David Jones or Domayne? For example, for a $2,000 item, can I use four $500 cards in-store?

    • +1

You can add all the e-visa cards into Apple Wallet or Google wallet, then ask the staff to split the payment, pretty easy. Just choose different cards and tap 4 times.

  • -1

sorry noob Q whats this "rewards goal" dont you get cashback to your credit card?

"AUD ‘Bunnings’ gift card (‘Gift card’) through the Zip App and earn 10% of the value of your gift card as cashback towards your Rewards Goal"
can you buy this on the website or need to buy via app (i dont have the app)

    • +1

This question has been asked (and answered earlier). Please search before asking questions. See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/17114803/redir

    • You need the app to buy it.

    • +3

Their cashback model is such that you can only cash out every time you reach the goal ($10 increments)
So if you buy $100 -> $10, meaning you can instantly can cash out into your ZIP account
But e.g. if you buy $150 -> $15, you can cash out $10, but the $5 is locked until you earn another $5 cash back.
Buying $500 -> $50, so you cash out fully, but over 5x $10 steps.

      • +1

Due to some messup on their end my cashback total was negative $40. I'd held off using Zip because of the 'bank error in my favour". This deal has me finally clearing that error and getting some JB cards stocked up.

  • Account got locked and had to verify ID to make purchase

  • Encountered error with the app. Whenever I clicked on the gift card, then the next page would be: You have successfully logged out.

  • +1

first 2 card ok 3rd card still shows pending and have not received cashback yet

    • +1

+1 I have the same error.

      • +1

        yeah diu

      • got my 3rd card now mate see you in Inala

  • thanks OP lucky I didn't but the post 10% gift card

  • Can anyone confirm that eBay Australia MCC is also under Department Stores (5311)? If so, can we add the VISA to eBay account and spend it online?

    • nah

go to department store and buy an ebay gift card instead

      • Do you know which department stores currently sell eBay gift cards?

    • They worked directly with ebay and Aliexpress when I tried 6 months ago on the Dept store gift card sold through Maxxia (not the Zip version).

    • +2

FYI I just used up my department store card balance directly on eBay, using the split payment feature to use up the exact amount (also paid some by gift card).

  • -1

So u need to buy gift card from physical store like big w right not online?

Max reward is $20, so buy 2x$100 gift card in same transaction?

    • where does it say max reward $20?

    • max reward is $1000

  • After buying the GC Zip declared I have reached the end, that sounds ominous.

  • +2

In case anyone without a Zip account wonders:
Yes, it requires a credit score check upon application.
