  • This is getting incredibly tempting. Still holding out for something just a tad bigger though…

Are you my ex by any chance?

        Anything’s possible.

        That is C6K

    • +2

As an 85" C855 owner, do it… great TV!

      • +1

        Totally agree

  • +5

Wish they drop $300 on C7K 85 inch

  • +2

    brilliant TV!

  • +1

    Wow bargain!

  • +7

I have the 75 inch and vouch for it.. it's impressive at 20 percent brightness

    • +1

Picture quality is great have you found the UI (google TV) to be a bit slow though when navigating menus and choosing a show or movie ?

      • +1

just update to the latest tcl firmware using the telegram channel. it makes that issue better.

        • +2

          1) Can you share a link? I wish to do this to my C8K.

          2) It is absolutely ridiculous that a Telegram channel is the best way to upgrade a TV in 2025.

          • +3

@ozbozb123: Bot for Firmware Files: https://t.me/FirmwareTCLbot

            Notifications of Updates: https://t.me/tclupdates
Discussion in the comments of each update post relevant to the particular firmware and reported improvements/issues from users.

Seems there is also this group for more general discussion, but I've never used it: https://t.me/tclupdates_discussion

            • @TheWiz: Ew, i'm not touching Telegram just to update my TV.

              • @chepsk8: It is really annoying that they don't just provide the firmware directly, but I've done a few updates on my C855 and haven't run into any issues so each to their own. Mine came with v135 out of the box and it never finds any OTA updates, so you don't have a choice unless you leave the firmware as is from the factory. They're up to v560 now and there are generally decent improvements to the interface as well as the software behind the picture enhancements that actually make the viewing experience better, so I'd recommend looking in to it.

                • @TheWiz: I remember having to find firmware updates for my old Hisense tv through forums… But it was cracking value for the time… So… Worth it in the end if its easy enough. Looks like I'll be doing this with the c8k too

                • @TheWiz: V509 is available OTA. That telegram channel only has newer 65" and 75" firmwares.

      • I did. I had the Hisense and a fire stick 4k max. And this is significantly slower. And a odd bug here or there. Thinking if I should buy a google tv streamer.. or a 4k max again

  • +2

I think this deal was still the best price so far around ~$2335 for 85" C8K and a Q65H TCL soundbar just something to keep in mind as black friday fast approaches

    • +1

I've been holding out for something similar for the 75" but might have to bite the bullet on this.

    • +1

      That was for 75"?

      • +3

read the comments in the deal properly please before negging me, it was a deal for both size options where the 85" was $2335

Go the 85" with the $700 voucher:

TCL 85" C8K Premium QD Mini LED Google TV $2636.00
TCL 5.1 Ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar Q65H $399.20

        Item Subtotal $3035.20

        After voucher: $2335

        • +5

There's three pages of comments…you could have said to check the comments at least.

Thanks for sharing though. $1900 for the 75" is pretty good.

          • +1

@Caped Baldy: If you just search for 85" it can be found quite easily its half way down the first page, if ozbargain let me link a comment I would have, the website should make it easier to find this stuff not me.

Bit trigger happy on the negcusation there mate. I've just +'d your comment…I didn't neg you.

Sorry for not going on a deep dive through the comments because you left out key information.

        • c8k 85 HN 2246 free delivery

    • +1

Agreed, I got the cheaper soundbar so only paid $2000 less than $2100 for the TV

      • +1

Nice one that sound bar had ran out before most got to that deal I think

        • +1

Same, so I called multiple WA stores and there was one left in WA ages away but they delivered both for $59 unsure how as one came from the store and one from the warehouse. Actually got the TV and soundbar delivered for $2150.20 so just under $2k for the 85C8K :)

    • +1

+1, got the C8K 85" + Q65H Soundbar and $700 Visa card delivered for $3,094. Sold the soundbar for $250 and got $110 cashback from TopCashback (already paid out) - so overall $2,034.

    • +1

wait so you think the prices will come down even more this weekend? genuinely asking as i was under the impression that BF these days is like a 2-3 week thing in Nov.

Im looking to get the 65", do you think it would be better to wait until this weekend to buy in case there is a better price/deal?

    • Sound bar not useful for everyone. Using giftcard on current deal is good enough for many. Using Hifi amp would be better

  • +2

Now where can I get 10% off JB gift cards?

    • 8% from Samsung deal?

    • Iam also looking for this. Did you find any deals?

    • +1

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/935943 - In 2 days, K-Mart 20x Flybuys Points.

      • TCN gift cards are kitten to have been guessed on pin codes. They're a security flaw atm all over the news

        • WTF are you saying? English please

          • @ticket65: That was a typo. There's a security issue with TCN cards it's been reported to TCN but they have not done anything. Avoid buying them as someone might be able hack the pin code after taking pictures of the card numbers. The guy did a YouTube video go look for it. Was also on TV. Once a card is paid, becomes valid as long as someone can guess the pin code then your funds are gone.

They utilise an automation script that constantly check for validation on cards until one works. That's cause TCN website is shocking

  • +1

Thanks OP, 75" purchased, great price…

    • +2

Likewise, thanks OP. I was going to take the c7k this week but this will do very nicely

    • +3

Brought the c7k 75” yesterday at TGG for $1,647 with delivery due Wednesday.. saw this today stopped in on the way home from work and they happily changed the order and price matched the JB price 👍 thanks OP

  • +7

    Any deals on 98 inch?

  • Feeling so betrayed after getting the C7K 75" on Saturday for $1595 😭 - I guess nothing I can do given it's been delivered and installed. Ugh

    • How is it btw? Why do you think C8K might be better apart from the extra brightness - which not everyone might need?

The reason I am asking Iis because I've been waiting for a crazy deal on the 75" C7K within - the range of $1400.

      • +2

The difference really is just more brightness and dimming zones. But I actually find the C7K extremely bright. Only have issues on very bright days with dark scenes which I imagine only a better anti glare panel would help. I spent some time today working on the image settings and it's an amazing TV for this price. I will be surprised if it goes down to $1400!

  • +20

paid 3k for this in july and have no regrets. no mrs, no kids, but my TCL 85" C8K is all I need in this life and the next

    • -6

Thank you for telling me your life and next life story…

      • lol

        • +1

Some people can't take jokes but at least you got it. Well done mate =) 4 others negged me for fun I guess

    • You on the 4K Blu-Ray train yet, m8? Perfect use for such a TV

  • Do we think these will go lower or nah?

  • Whoa!!! That's a great price. We have this one and its a great TV apart from colours being too bright.

  • Also bought a c8k 85" a month ago for around $2200 delivered with a soundbar (s55h though). Amazing tv. Very bright and great contrast and black levels. Shame that my family thinks it's amazing too, or I would get to use it more :(

    • where do you find that deal?

      • +1

It was a good guys deal, but I should have tried getting cashback on it as well. Was so surprised when I went in-store that I impulse bought. 🙄

  • +4

We got the 98' C8k from HN at $4050 few weeks back inc. installation on wall, delivery & tv bracket.

    • PMed!

    • Dang, would love to know how you wangled that! Everyone seems to be holding tight on price on the 98" ones right now.

      • The guys at the store were probably short of sales at the time. Nevertheless, the mgr approached us & offered $4500 with everything. They had 10% in value via gift card, bringing the price down to $4050 when stacked.

        • That is great! Are you able to please share a copy of the invoice (hide personal details)?

    • Hey Gold,

      Sending you a PM

      • Replied

Since when has TCL become a premium TV brand?

    • Since always…

    • since never

    • There is a difference between premium brand and premium product. Your mini-leds are being closely compared to OLED.

      • No they are not. Most houses have windows in living rooms.

TCL is running quantum dots, giving brightness significantly better than and colour similar to OLED,

C8K's have ~3k LED back lights, which removes bloom for standard eyes outside of benchmarks.

If you are running a dark room, OLED will look better. But you also had money to buy/build a home theatre….

For most people, with a tv in a room with a window, TCL C8K's are better than OLED.

(Ignoring response time/gaming as who competitively games on a 75" TV)

    • +1

I can tell you TCL is close probably on par to Samsung and LG and it starts from this model.

Just cause it's a China brand doesn't mean it's not premium.

EVs, TVs, Phones, Tablets and Solar Panels all great tech from China so not sure why you diss it

LG too expensive with its OLED, Samsung QD Mini OLED is not as good

TCL is at right price and quality

Many enthusiasts said this is TCL turning point and I reckon this is only the beginning.

Just like Toyota getting sales pulled by BYD on UTEs

      • +1

Thank you — the only genuine reply to my comment (which was made in good faith, I have no issue with TCL).

No idea why I got neg bombed.

        • I think it gives a negative impression on China made products and there are a lot of people dismis that, given the OP gave effort posting the deal. It might be true 10-20 years ago but no longer the case.

This is just my opinion usually people negged because they feel like expressing their opinions and disagree with comments regarding the deal is no good etc.

Saying it non premium people think you don't like TCL and just post hate all over.

  • Is the motion "smooth" on TCL tvs ? Particularly without resorting to motion smoothing options in menus ?

Motion judder is the bane of my existence.
Watching bluray/4K content without motion interpolation on my current 4k Samsung tv plays tricks on my brain enough to get bad headaches from the experience. Turning the motion smoothing on fixes it….. but then introduces thr motion being too fast for spoken word dialogue.

I'm a bit miffed that older technology handled it better (plasma tvs from the mid/late 2000s).

    • +1

If this is something that affects you a bit differently to others, you might want to have your eyes checked for Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD). It's not uncommon, but is under-recognized.

      • +1

Nah it's a Samsung TV problem with micro stuttering. I own a S90C and movies/shows at the standard 24fps for example have panning micro stutter issues.

Most noted when it's fairly slow. Higher fps YouTube vids or games don't really have this issue, or if it's there the extra fps makes it pretty unnoticeable for me. The smoothing enhancement he mentions is probably adding fake frames to remove the micro stuttering, but that causes its own issues.

For me, I'd take the micro stutters over the vomit inducing smoothing tech TV's implement.. But if I were to buy again I'd probably go LG… I went Samsung because the TV was (is? We moved, but still applies) in a fairly bright room and QDOLED was notably brighter than the C3 I was comparing it to.

        • I gather it's down to different resolutions and things but the internet apps and streaming services are fine, don't need "Auto Motion Plus" for them… even some other things (once again PAL content set on 25hz or 50hz) run as intended. It's disappointing that they can't nail the tech with LED-onward. As I said I had no issues with stutters/motion blur on Plasma tvs…. even :LCD's were fine

    • +2

AFAIK this TV is great for motion judder on 24 FPS content, 30 FPS content and 60 FPS content. However, 50 FPS is where you will see some problems even with motion smoothing settings enabled. HDTVTest on YouTube has a review of the C7K and he found that to be the case so I assume other than the dimming zones the panels are very similar.

      • After seeing lots of positive comments about TCL tvs in general over the last 2 years on here and other forums like whirlpool I did a snoop around online and while picture quality is great and up there with the bigger brands. I too read negative things about certain motion scenarios (particularly sports vision). While I have collected many blurays + 4K titles over the years…….. I still watch a fair bit of PAL (25/50hz) content so that kinda scares me off.

        • I have a C855 and if you use the right settings it's great for sport. The key is to not have any of the blur/judder reducing options turned on or on low, otherwise things like a spinning football (AFL) turn into a blur.

          • @TheWiz: Yep, HDTVTest in his review of the C7K found having the options off was best and not needed for 60 FPS, 50 FPS, 30 FPS or 24 FPS content.

        • Disabling or fine-tuning motion clarity, judder reduction, and interpolation settings helps smooth motion and mitigates artifacts like stutter or soap-opera effect. This might help you

    • I bought a 85" C7K a few months ago and IMO its Achilles heel is motion smoothing in streaming apps. Specifically, in dark scenes it can exhibit noticeable ghosting, it judders a fair bit with some fast moving motion and if a scene starts out with minor motion which then increases you can see the motion smoothing suddenly cut in. Strangely, motion smoothing with TV content is much better, suggesting maybe it is something related to the streaming apps.

It's not terrible by any stretch, but I just thought it would be better given how brilliantly it does everything else for what I mainly use it for - as a PC monitor and for gaming. I should also add that our main TV is a Sony 77" OLED, and the motion smoothing on that is magnificent, so I am probably just being a Sony snob with it all.

    • +1

First limited test of mine today since receiving it by hooking up a laptop and played YouTube via HDMI but the judder was terrible. Even after turning off Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction to 0.

  • Hmm… tempting but I don't really need a new TV. Going to wait for a deal I cannot pass like the GG deal from last month.

  • -1

Can they offer free TV installation…?

  • +1

Just bought the 75" C8K. Been holding out for a while to buy this tv. This is a fantastic price. Cheers OP.

  • +7

I got the 75" one during the sound bar promo and wifey say I could/should have gone with a bigger one… I take that as an instruction to buy the 85" and move he 75" to another room.
