    Fees shouldn’t increase for more days off… The doc’s job is the same whether it’s 1 day or a week. Makes no sense to pay double just for extra days - especially for such a service

      Pricing is something that we're actively experimenting with.

      The difference between 1-3 day definitely seems arbitrary.

      However there is good cause for a pricing increase at 3+ days.

      This is treated as a “General Consult” by our doctors, requiring more time to conduct an extensive history.

      We appreciate the feedback and believe healthcare should be affordable and accessible.

        What a crap answer! You are doing virtual consults and even I, as a non medical person know that they are bs.

        How do you actually consult someone, or are you suggesting that things like:
        Blood pressure readings
        Paddle pop stick on the tongue
        Stethoscope
        Torch in the ears etc are all just things made up by gps?

        This is rich young doctors, leveraging IT to rip the guts out of Medicare.

        Hope you, and those like you get shut down.

          @Jetstream we don’t pretend it replaces a full in-person exam. If a doctor needs to check blood pressure, listen to your chest, or look in your ears/throat we will tell our patients to visit a clinic in person.

          Most of the time, telehealth is chosen for low acuity conditions - simply for convenience.

          However it actually creates better access in these specific scenarios:

          • Rural and regional patients
          • Conditions facing stigma or sensitivity (e.g. STIs, HIV, mental health)
          • People with mobility or disability issues
          • People with low immunity
          • People with time constraints
          • Parents with young kids or carers

          Many of these people wouldn't be seen otherwise, and we will always refer patients to a clinic in person if needed.

      This is not true and a sign of Butler’s propaganda.

      The only benefiting practices are the ones that were largely bulk bill already - now the earn a rebate closer to true inflationary value.

      Practices that were truly mixed or private billing only have not made the switch to universal billing due to the significant loss of income that it would result in.

      Online, asynchronous, medical consults and have never been a Medicare relatable service. In order to access an online GP service that is Medicare relatable via telehealth or telephone, the patient would require to be a existing patient of that practice with a face2face appt in the last 12 months, which is not possible for most of these companies.

        How does this business benefit private practices exactly?

        Seems a model which will encourage overservicing and delinquency, both of which this country can do without. I suspect the ACCC will have something to say about your pricing model. Does it have govt approval?

    Technically a statutory declaration is sufficient for medical certificate in Australia. You don't even need someone else to sign off on it.

      Statutory declarations are good in a lot of cases. Here's a brief summary on the differences and options available for sick/leave certificates

      Issuer Typical use Can certify earlier days? Backdate issue date? Notes
      Doctor Work/study absence; carer's leave; most official purposes Yes, if clinically justified and explained. No. Follow RACGP/AMA/MCNSW/MBA guidance; document findings.
      Pharmacist Short leave for minor conditions or carer's leave Very short periods only (often 1–2 days). No. Leave must not start before consult date; employer decides sufficiency.
      Statutory declaration Alternative evidence if a cert isn't available N/A N/A Accepted under Fair Work if it would satisfy a reasonable person.
      Workers' compensation Work injury/illness claims Scheme rules apply. No. Use Certificate of Capacity (Comcare/SIRA etc.).

      We also had mixed feelings. There's a sense of cheapening, and treating healthcare as transactional. Two things we want to avoid.

    Tbh if there any doctors gullible or poorly skilled enough to provide this service at these prices, you aren't going to want them anywhere near you or your family.

    If somebody's just wanting a day off just because, sure, but I guess the morals and standards left the building a long time ago in that case.
