  • Bugger just switched via the previous $200 econnex to AGL

    • Same here - damn

      • Me three- but double whammy as mine routed through TCB and only getting $125! 😭

  • I'm unclear on what switch energy WITH AGL means. Does that mean from another provider to AGL or switch energy plans within AGL?
I assume the first but it's weird wording to not just say switch TO AGL

    • Exactly this.

    • Hi there, it means that you will have to switch to AGL from previous provider as we only have AGL for this promotion.

      • what if I am already with AGL and switch to this plan? I wont be eligible ? No where in the terms it says customers switching from other AGL plans are ineligible.

      • @Manyo "switch to" and "switch with" have two different meanings. It says "switch to" at https://www.econnex.com.au/agl-Offer, so I think that's what you really meant.

        • agree and it says switch to a AGL plan -> this can be inferred to signing up to this plan even if you are a current AGL customer on a different plan

          • @SydOzber: I find this deal super confusing with a title and description of Switch Energy with AGL, as others have.

Why did the OP not put Switch Energy to AGL. "With" implies that you could be an existing customer of AGL as does the description of "The promotion is solely for switching Energy plans with AGL."

There is nothing in the terms and conditions that reference switching from another provider besides: "If you transfer your service, you may have to pay a cancellation fee to your existing service provider, and there may be other consequences if you end your existing contract early." Even that could imply that you might be an existing AGL customer.

All the other terms could imply that if you are an existing AGL customer you could switch to another plan and still qualify for the promotion as it references switching to an eligible AGL plan, not stating switching to AGL itself.

The only thing that actually states switch to AGL is the heading on the web page.

      • Currently with AGL with my wife's name on the file. if i sign up with my name instead(same address) - will I be eligible ?

        • Yes, otherwise new owners of same house/address would not qualify

      • @Manyo and @Econnex I applied for the transfer from Origin to AGL on the 25th November under reference number: 1773323485. Only Gas transfer is shown on my AGL app. Could you please check and let me know, thanks.

  • TLDR: Mastercard gift cards (not credit)
    $250 Electricity for 30 days
    $150 Gas for 30 days

    • Best offer I've seen out of Econnex. And only 30 days is excellent!

      • Just be careful, I found out in Victoria you can only churn Gas once every 60 days, on a set date. If you're 1 day over, then you have to wait 59 days to churn, and another 30 days to qualify for the offer.

        • Sounds like a Victoria thing. I'm switching mine and my parents' properties with this deal. $400 is too good to pass up.

        • In NSW you need to wait until next meter reading of gas and it can be up to 90 days if just read.

          • @chrisharry53: Not necessarily - last year I had a gas switch backdated to the meter reading done 3 weeks before. I was prepared to wait 70 days, but I didn't have to.

At the start of September I switched gas to AGL via topcashback, I thought I did it in time for the next meter reading at the end of September, but it didn't happen. Topcashback paid out at the start of November even though AGL hadn't even confirmed the supply yet!

Last week AGL said they actually switched me in the middle of October and someone had done a special meter reading. I haven't been charged for the meter reading.

        • Can you provide a source for this?

      • I just left AGL via Econnex, under their November promotion,
and now AGL has a "better" gift-card promotion, to switch back.

Switch back to profit ?? hah

  • Ugh, currently on 41 out of 45 days from the September deal. :( Would be nice if it was running for more than 1 day.

    • Set you move in date a week or two from now?

      • I like this idea! Will give it a go tomorrow :)

If i applied on 15th October, does the 45 days start from that date, or the date the service was activated? Just want to make sure i allow enough time.

        • activation or connection date

          • @SydOzber: Yeah just realised my gas account from October still isn't active because there hasn't been a meter read haha. Going to just go for it I think.

      • When setting a move in date do we have to change to partner's name? If account name stays the same it wouldn't be counted as a move in, right?

        • I'll let you know in late January

    • Same, what to do

  • Be careful. I got a message for gift card sent to my email but I check spam inbox trunk .. for few days and didn’t see any. I sent them some email already but didn’t get any response.

    • Hey there, could you please share your reference number in private message so that we can help you accordingly.

    • Call them. I didn't get one of my gift cards, they sorted it out after one phone call

  • I left AGL in July.
I dont see anything in the terms and conditions about needing not to have been a customer with AGL for at least 12 months, etc

Am I right in saying this?

    • I think you are right. I left AGL not long ago and am returning for this deal.

    • If there was an AGL credit promotion, there might be a 12 month cooling off period. But this promotion is offered by Econnex, which means there's no such limitation.

  • Thanks manyo. Great deal

  • Is it fair to say this does not stack with any cashback?

    • Yes - i think so as the links are not accessible via TCB or SB

    • Yes, this is a separate deal from the cash back. To avail this deal, you will need to click on the provided link. if you click on cashback it will redirect you to different offer which can not be stacked with this offer.

  • What about brand new sign ups as I am moving into a new place (no transfer from a previous provider)?

    • You will be eligible to receive the gift cards if you fulfil the term & conditions.

  • rofl left AGL for red energy for the $200 deal, not sure if it's worth going back in for the $50.

    • Sure is if it's free money.

  • If I am already with AGL for gas, do I qualify for this offer if I switch my electricity from another provider to AGL?

    • Yes you will be eligible for Electricity switch from different provider to AGL subject to the terms & conditions.

  • No available offers in my postcode 2620. Seems odd since I’m sure I can get AGL here..

    • Using the incognito mode worked for me.

      • Made no difference to me.

    • Actewagl area?

  • Ah damn it, already with AGL for a few more months while I use remaining credit.

    • You can request a refund for credit with AGL

      • Try in app refund request otherwise need to talk to support to get a refund sent back to you.

    • OP just confirmed that you can still switch between plans and still be eligible for the gift card

  • How long is this deal valid for? Only 2 days lol

  • Are you able to switch at a later date and still get this deal?

    • I just signed up (gas). What do you mean? Like set future churn date? No it is immediate signup and they will transfer you eventually. You cannot set future date. Well at least for gas it didn't ask me?

      • You certainly can. For electricity, choose move-in; for gas you can just submit a manual meter read on the intended transfer date.

        • Can I still choose move in even though I'm not actually moving in and the previous connection will be in my name as well?

        • Is there a charge for a manual meter read ?

        • Have you done this future date connection and received the gift card?

    • Yes you can choose the move-in date and still be eligible for the deal but your connection date will start from the day you connection has started.

      • I think you guys should just change the "moving" question to if you need a future connection date so more people know what that option is actually for, considering a majority of your customer base would be ozb churners.

  • How long does it take to be issued the gift card?

    • "Eligible Recipients will receive the applicable Card/s by email up to 3-4 months after connecting to the relevant plan/s."

      • Make sure to whitelist rewards@karta.com.au as that is where the gift cards get sent from.

        • This! I had the gift card sitting in my spam folder for weeks. The gift card had a very short activation window. No prior or post email from econnex regarding the gift card being sent by a third party company. found out about it after a couple of weeks it expired. Messaged econnex rep here and emailed support but no dice. Apparently they cant do anything about it. Kinda dodgy I would say. Wonder how many of them they get away not paying for, doing this.

  • If i switch with this deal. can i later change Electricity plan with them to different one. ?

    • Don't see why not. As long as you switch. But check T&Cs. I would wait until you get gift card before changing plans or leaving AGL entirely.

      • ngl I'm probably going to leave like within 5 days after the 30 days is up, the only 2 plans I was offered was solar saver and it's offering 3c FIT which is $10 off my bill, the daily charge is $1.30 so around $40 a month

The problem is that I have a solar battery, I practically never require grid energy

Globird ZeroHero credits me $1 a day for no power during 6-8pm and to make sure I don't draw from the grid I simply export 4kwh or so during 6-8pm, on top of that they pay me 15c a kw

So 60c FIT earned exporting during peak time + $1 credit for not importing from grid = I earn $1.60 a day on average and they charge me $1.40 daily charge = 20c a day credit

So my choice is pay nothing for electricity every month + bonus 11am-2pm free power! … or … I pay AGL $30 a month

That said thank you Econnex for the money, that'll go nicely towards lunch for the week

        • Or join the AGL battery rewards, export 20kwh per night and get $400 gift cards every quarter. If you don't import anything you'll "make" $308 if you consider gift cards at face value every 90 days

          • @Brick50: unfortunately only a 10kwh battery (bought 3 years ago) and 6.6kw solar (roof maxed out) so 20kwh a night would be a bit too much but didn't know this existed, thanks!

      • I would wait until you get gift card before changing plans or leaving AGL entirely

3 - 4 months wait time before moving to different retailer? hmmm … max i would wait is probably 1 month and a bit then off I go looking for more attractive rates out there.

  • Could you please confirm whether this electricity/gas plan involves a fixed contract term (for example, a 12‑month lock‑in)? Also, are there any additional charges such as exit fees or other surcharges that I should be aware of?

    • For this, you will need to check the plan details on the plan listing page as it contains all of the information you are requesting.

  • Billing Options: Quarterly

So how would one leave after 30 days? Will a bill be issued if a quarter has not lapsed before going elsewhere? Prorated?

    • Just go ahead and sign up for a new provider after 30 days. You will receive a bill from AGL soon after you leave for how ever many days you had a service with them.

      • You can also change to monthly billing aith AGL. I did that so I'd get a bill a couple of days after the 90 days were up for AGL's (not Ecoonex) $200 credit.

Funnily enough, after switching out to another energy company - even though i rang them for a better price or a deal - they have now offered $250 to switch back to them, after staying for 90 days.

No doubt I'll switch out again after that.

  • I know it has been mentioned in the comments and says in the terms and conditions as well…. but again
"If I port out to another offer after staying connected for 30-45 days… will I still be eligible for the gift card and it will be sent after 3-4 months… even though I am not with AGL anymore?"

    • Correct.

      • Great… just made the switch request.

  • Not that it really matters, but why have an optional consent question about agreeing to credit checks? Why would people consent to this if it's only optional? I didn't check it and submitted it.

    • Is it optional? I thought credit check is compulsory, so hesitate to churn..

      • Yes it is optional. I didn't tick the consent question on the form and submitted the application.

        • ty! saved me yet another unnecessary credit check

      • Many providers don't run credit checks

    • Almost all energy providers do credit checks. And despite what some think it 100% CAN effect your credit rating. Had mine drop 200 points with no other hits in one year from churning 5 times chasing deals

      • Having a high credit score should be taken advantage of. For too many years I protected my credit score for nothing. This isn't America, credit scores are largely meaningless in Australia. So I would worry too much about the drop, especially if the check is utility related and not consumer credit applications.

        • It is largely meaningless but if you drop below 500 you can't even sign up for most utility deals and will be stuck on VDO or equivalent plans
