This morning I've been up since 3am, outside looking at my mint plants, pondering 1 single thought which I still can't get out of my head, "is the discount too much, am I making a mistake going this hard on the value for money offer on this Black Friday Super Sale…" Anyway, given I planned to post this deal 30 minutes ago and I've made no progress on my thoughts since 3am, I'm just going to post it now before I come to my senses and reduce this discount, adopting the "when in doubt, just go for it" approach haha

      With the cost of shipping constantly rising I’m not surprised. Even if you’re on the highest discount band with AusPost smaller parcels are going to cost between $10-$15 for most addresses, possibly more if it’s a regional address (for which you’re given little or no discount at all). That’s a fixed cost which comes directly off your selling price, so if you can defray that in any way it really helps to keep profits stable which can be reinvested for keeping the doors of the business open. Anyone who complains “Shipping kills the deal” ought to try sending something themselves to see what the real costs involved are.

        To be honest Tom (from the TimTam factory) I read that post but was expecting the minimum to go up a bit, say $79, rather than nearly 50% to $99. That's a big jump to me. Realistically means now need to buy 4-5kgs minimum to get free delivery.

          As mentioned below to @team teri we regularly audit everything to ensure continuing the norm doesn't risk the future of Lime Blue Coffee and as soon as we identify a risk to the future we make needed changes, even when it's hard to do in the moment. However, any large changes like the free shipping threshold we transparently let our terrific customers know about, [as per the the deal posted a few weeks back,] (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/929606) we provided the opportunity to lock in close to 8 months worth of orders before the free shipping threshold increased and when it increased we dropped the flat rate shipping cost for orders under the free shipping threshold. I know sometimes changes can be frustrating and not welcomed with open arms, but somethings regardless of the reception a change is needed for future existence. We were at $69 for a few years without changes, even though our costs went up each year and at $99 we're now aligned with the norm for ecom free shipping across all industries in Australia. In terms of the quantity requirements, there's a number of our blends at 40%-50% off which will quality for free shipping for a 3kg order of coffee beans and you could always get 2-2.5kg and some sort of coffee equipment or accessories to bump you to free shipping if 3kg is too much. Once again, thanks for speaking your mind, good, bad or indifference, customer feedback is so important to us :)

            @LimeBlueCoffee: Hey Tom, I know there’s a squeeze in margins and volatility in coffee / logistics, I really appreciate how you give us all the heads up and also ability to schedule future orders… the free shipping rise is a real shame in my view, mostly because it’s always strategically a smidge higher than the cost of certain number of bags… when $69 min you had to buy 3 bags @ approx $28 = $84ish. Now for $99 min you’d have to get four bags around $112 depending on which you choose.

            I’d love to give feedback that you did free shipping for any others 3kg+ :) :)

      As serpserpserp said, it is subjective. I rate ALDI's single origin beans and happily buy those. Lime Blue also have some great offerings. Definitely worth trying.

      I like Aldi's dark roast but the price of this has risen dramatically and it's often hard finding a fresh(ish) batch.

      The Moments to Memories is really nice (I mainly drink long blacks). And of course always super fresh. On sale not a huge amount more than the Aldi beans. Personally didn't rate the Aldi single origin but maybe I got a stale batch.

          Very helpful @maybeamacy I think our Pancake Party Blend may be the winning ticket for you. However, the acidity kick sits closer to a medium. If you want a bit lower acidity and are happy to miss out on notable fruity notes (still present, but chocolate and caramel outweigh) then go for our Moments to Memories Blend :)

          Same coffee as previously available…it was a bit less a while back, but that would have been months ago, it's been the same price for the last few deals which have featured Decaf. Decaf is always a bit more due to extra processing and shipping (needs to go from origin to Canada and then to Australia) :)

      Will dispatch on the day you choose. Speed depends on who you choose - it dispatches from MEL. Aus Post may have some slowness now due to Christmas, but I saw my postie deliverying parcels last weekend, so that's probably happening now. Have "fun" moving. ;)

    I've been progressively working my way through their beans, this is my very subjective rating. All coffee done through my espresso machine, YMMV using other techniques.

    1. Columbia Cauca - Great for both espresso or milk. Very smooth, sweet, tangy and with some floral notes. Super versatile.
    2. Peru Chanchamayo - Very close to the Columbian, slightly more subtle. Still very smooth, goes great with milk. My wife prefers this one.
    3. India Baba Budangiri - Super interesting flavour. Kind of earthy. Unique aftertaste compared to the South American beans. Better as espresso IMO. Not for everyone, I think you either love or hate it.
    4. Apple Crumble Blend - It's okay, not as tangy or sweet as the name suggests. Didn't work with milk, better black. Wouldn't order this again.
    5. Brazil Sao Paulo SO - My least favourite. Found it a bit harsh & smokey. Tasted bit cheap. No real interesting flavours like the others. Wouldn't order this one again either.

      Maybe I had a bad batch but my batch of Brazil SO was really "average". Very minimal crema and just a meh flavour. I really like the Moments to Memories. I generally drink black.

        Maybe the Op can share some light on it.

        Brazilian seems to peak April to July for my taste buds.

      If you buy 2 @ $25.80, delivery is $7, so it equate to $29.3/kg or buy 3kg will work out $28.1/kg. That is very reasonable..

      I generally split my 1kg lots into 3 x 1/3kg (about enough for a week) and double bag (so the small bags go into a larger plastic bag).

      I think you can put the whole beans bag in another zipper bag, squeeze as much air as possible, zip it and freeze
      or even better, if have a vacuum sealer, seal the whole beans bag then freeze it

      I also heard that another approach is to first split the 1kg beans into smaller portions, vacuum sealed and freeze
      then defrost what you need in the coming week

      I have put the whole bag in the freezer and decant when needed with no issues.

      I also bought some 500g bags from lime blue and nowadays I decant 500-600g straight into the empty 500g bag when I open a 1kg bag and then load the coffee machine and whatever is left I leave in the 1kg bag in the freezer and use it first.

    I love your coffee, and I love a good bargain.

    But, having already got one pre-order from the last deal (and another one hopefully arriving today, from an even earlier deal), I can't help but ask: is your business profitable? Or are these deals needed to get pre-order revenue in to keep the lights on right now?

    All the savings of years would evaporate if one order never turnes up, especially now that I would feel compelled to order $100 worth of coffee to get to free shipping :-)

        @swamp potato: If you look at today's commodity price for Arabica beans, that is USD 4.15/lb.

        That converts to AU$ 14.05/kg. If they now sell for $25.xx, that's roughly $23 ex GST. Allow for $3 for shipping and packing, that leaves them $20. $6 margin to cover all their overheads: rent for storage and factory, electricity (I would hope they use that to roast), and wages. That is not much to play with.

        Hopefully they have locked in lower coffee prices via long term contracts and don't have to buy in the spot market…

        But definitely worth asking the question I asked :-)

      A very fair question. First, please only order to the extent that you're comfortable with, if the future arrival of an order will be in the back of your mind "will I actually get the order? Will Lime Blue Coffee still exist when my order is scheduled for dispatch?" then please don't place the extra future dispatch order, simply because we really do want you to have a great coffee experience with us and feel like you've secured a high level value for money deal and those thoughts being in the back of your mind will significantly take away in a negative manner from the experience we're working hard to provide.

      Yes, we have been profitable every year we've existed and paid the income tax on the profit accordingly and early. That said, although we tend to just focus on us rather than what others are doing, reading in between the lines, our business model within the wonderful world of coffee is somewhat unique and quite lean relatively speaking. Our business model is simple, instead of paying Meta $50+ per lead or 40-50% to supermarkets and other resellers, we simply pass on those costs as savings directly to our terrific customers; as such our margins have a similar thinness to supplying a supermarket so on that front it's an even playing field, just that we're likely much spanner an operation as we like to punch above our weight. Ongoing survival requires the continued discipline and self auditing we've historically done and will continue to do. For example, looking into the future our prior free shipping threshold was an economic risk as such we transparently addressed it with this fantastic community and amended it as to not risk the future of Lime Blue Coffee. Another example was a while back identifying ground coffee as an economic risk to Lime Blue's future along with being a diminished customer experience to beans, as such we bit to bullet to lose that revenue in the short-term to ensure potential for a long-term future. Furthermore, future dispatches have green allocated based on today's costs to us and we do not take on more future orders than I could fulfil with a full time job it something drastic happened. Additionally we offer payments via customer centric protection approaches, such as PayPal. Over the last year and a bit we've been working on a drastically positive expansion move, which is getting closer and closer to revealing, there have been lots of hurdles along the way, but it has been an overall exciting adventure thus far. The more orders we can get, the more single origins, discounts, new blend, experiences and all sorts of other goodies we can offer customers, so if we like to think of it as you helping us, helps you, help us to help you again and so the cycle continues :)

      I prefer Lime Blue, if you like Roosevelt you will probably like the Sao Paulo single origin

    Was really impressed by the pack of Sao Paulo I got some time last year. Came back for another pack not too long ago but the coffee tasted weaker than before. Has been using the same machine and settings so I wonder whats changed….

      Nothing has changed on our site and I can understand this from you perspective that you haven't changed anything.     The date selector only seems to have the Dec dates available. I am trying to schedule a delivery for June 2026. Is anyone else having the same issue?

            India is available, but there's not a huge amount still available, so that one you can delay up until the end of December, whereas Moments and Colombia you can delay up until June next year if you'd like :)

      I'm not a huge cold brewer, but when I do make one our Colombia Cauca Single Origin is my go to :)

    I just received Brazil Single Origin from a previous order and made a cup, absolutely delicious. I had to grind it coarser than the beans I was using previously but once it was dialled in it produced a very rich syrupy shot with plenty of crema.

      If you could please let me know your preferences for the below I should be able to point you in the right direction :)

      1) Along with the coffee tasting like coffee would you like it to also be chocolatey, caramel, fruity or a combo?
      2) Low, medium or a high acidity kick?

      The tech allows for 1 dispatch date per order, so if you'd like things sent on different days, you'll just need to place a separate order for each dispatch date. Another good option is to get it all set out at the same time and simply freeze the extra bags until you need them, as they'll stay fresh while frozen for months and months :)

      Hey @charmandad the featured rotating Single Origins can be be scheduled for dispatch up until the end of December, as there's not a huge amount of those coffees left and once they're gone they're gone. Whereas our ongoing Single Origins, including our Brazil, Colombia and Peru you can schedule the dispatch as far into the future as June next year :)

    Any other way to store 3kg of beans if I don't have enough room in the freezer? How will they store in the cupboard?

      The goal here is to slow down the oxidation of the beans. There aren't really any domestic options rather than freezing.
      I mean, their bag is pretty good and has the one way valve. If you try to squeeze the air out as much as possible, I think it should be fine in the cupboard.

      Hey @3jidaddy sounda like a terrific plan!!!

      You'll just need to place 4 separate orders, selecting a different dispatch date for each order to achieve your goal. Alternativly you can simply get all 4 bags dispatched at the same time and freeze the extra 3 until you need them to keep them nice and fresh :)

            @dyc198613: Hey @3jidaddy and @dyc198613 never hurts to double check, splitting orders is a good way to make friends with your neighbours, def better to be friends, if possible, than have disputes with neighbours!

            Do you have any thoughts on how I could word it better? Thought I covered our system in the "some helpful info" by writing "…multiple orders…" and "One dispatch per order," but it looks like perhaps I can do better, feedback always most welcomed :)
